That's a good idea. All the most popular apps and things are skinnable now, so give us a choice of "skins" and let us choose the one we want. I personally don't care for this new look either, it looks to me like the windows are going to cut me. I prefer a more organic look to this industrial sort of design.

I don't like the new interface. I liked the western style two interface updates ago. Looks too futuristic and overall kinda ugly. Don't really like the new loading screens either, I'd kinda gotten used to the old loading picture. Then again, I might get used to these ones, too. :P

They also removed the only thing left on the tab to the right of the screen.. I liked that tab. Having your friends list, guild list and settings on one place was really nice. Now I have to use alot of silly windows for that.

I wish they'd implement the old interface as a skin, as someone suggested. *shrug*

You know, the entire interface (at least, regarding what things show and positioning) is easily changed. First thing I did March BWE was move the experience bar to the top-left, then outright removing it a few minutes later. Everything could be removed and repositioned, even the chat window, compass and skill bar. And yes, those four weapon bubbles could be removed too.

I like that ability, I just wish they'd offer a few different "Skins", or do like EQ "Shudder" did a while back. They opened up the interface and allowed people to create their own skins which they could then open up for download.

I also dislike the new UI... as Spooky said, it's mighty Space-Age... :P I dunno, it just seems TOO sharp for me. Perhaps if this is what we had in the first place, I wouldn't even notice. It justs feels like I'm running WinAmp or something now, lol.

And yes those bright blue clashing weapon bubbles have been there for a while... along with the annoying blue menu bar. Strange how blue really doesn't fit the GW menu AT ALL and yet they use it. Well, I'm sure a broken blue might fit it, but not the almost glowing blue they have had for a couple events now.

I do like the idea of changable skins, however...

i would like a gui choice as well. that way each person can use the gui skin they like the best. plus updates every so ofter or have a gui skinning contest and that way it eliminates Anet from having to build a bunch of them.

I thought they might be headed toward a new "look" when I saw the character creation area in the last BWE. I enjoyed the old, and will probably get used to the new. It's just a great game, no matter how it looks.

um, like frostfyd says in his post. you can get in yourself. about the focus, it was the best one i could find give me a break i had to start the guy from lvl 1 again because i had to start a new account to play. also, you can get to all screens that we are hosting at http://www.odins.org/stills.htm or you can go through the menu from http://www.odins.org like everyone else

I dislike this new interface for a few reasons:
  • the heading/sides are too bright compared to the transparent body that is darker because of GW's gloominess
  • as mentioned before, all the decoration is taking up even more precious UI space - the old decorations folded mostly behind the content
  • it amplifies the feeling that the customisation brought to the UI for me - it's becoming awfully brittle, glassy now with these window-panes, lacking the 'solidity' the black borders had, as if clicking too hard will irrepairably alter the interface somehow.
I was rather hoping they'd finish the customisation section, which initially undressed the UI to facilitate the resizing/moving of elements, but lost a lot of elements that gave the game/UI a 'finished' feel, making certain parts of the game look more 'work in progress' than they did before. Ofcourse progressing often involves taking steps back, but I still hope they will address this before game launch.

I personally love the new UI. The only thing I don't like is having to manually reposition windows every time I open a menu. I really enjoyed the Diablo II-like properties of the original UI where the screen simply resized to make room for the menu. No clutter, no mess

Yes! I suggested to the Devs awhile back that they consider enabling it so that windows stay where you last opened/positioned them. I'm hoping this happens somewhere along the line.
