Petition: More character creation room
Djinn Effer
I believe it has become self evident by now that everyone needs more than the limit of four characters on their account. Deleting our hard worked on characters just to experiment with other classes and/or builds is simply not acceptable. I'm making this petition in hopes that Guild Wars will consider making a change to allow us 8 characters, which seemed like a reasonable number - being one of each class and a little experimentation. If you would like to participate please post below with one of your character names and when I e-mail this to Guild Wars, it will have everyone's name listed under signed by. Now, I realize making a petition for a game change may seem a bit over doing it, but I want them to listen and I figure the best way for that is showing that their customers all want the same thing.

I'd rather keep it at 4, if it goes any larger than you start having massive problems with people who use ebay, and other online stores. Also, it's really not too evil to have 4 characters, just pick your 4 favorite professions(meaning you ignore 2) and have them as your main characters, because later in the game you are given the option to change your secondary, so each character can then become 5 different characters(provided you do the quests) and total, that'd be 20 characters. Plenty of variability across 20 different characters...and if you get bored with 5 of your characters, delete one and create a new primary profession and play it that way. Also, it makes it harder for people with macros to operate, mainly because people can't set up 1 of each profession and 2 pvp characters through macro and have things done while they sleep. There's a lot to consider when making larger accounts, and one of the most material things would be with the servers. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that your GW characters are held on GW servers. The power to use these servers is given to us for free, and I would be happy if they gave us all one character, because it's not every game that does things like that. So...not all their customers agree to having 8 characters, and these are just a few reasons, and I'm sure there's others.

I have a lot of opinions on why the character limit should stay at 4...or else be lower than 8. Eight, IMO, is a real big stretch. But I don't want to upset the original poster...
In these kinds of "petition" threads, where you really aren't asked for your opinion on the matter, is it okay for people to come in and state why the petition should NOT be signed in a civil manner?

Four is plenty. There's no reason for power-players to get that much more of an edge on us casual people. And as previously mentioned by someone very reasonable -- you pay no monthly fee, if you really need more characters, what's another 50 bucks for a second account?

4 would be fine if it was reserved for roleplay characters, and if PvP test builds did not count towards it. However, as it stands now, I have a Mo/Me, W/N and E/Mo as roleplay characters - seeing as I NEED one slot for PvP test builds, I can never play a ranger, and I dont want to delete the other RP characters I invested so much time in. It would be less painful to delete RP characters if they could be re-created at level 20 (with access to explorable areas) and with all skills that were already unlocked.

Great Gjl
Don't forget to mention you'd have to buy all the expansions TWICE (if you plan on getting them that is, which I don't doubt if you're willing to pay twice the amount for a game just to have more character slots).
6 Characters please. There are 6 different primary professions for crying out loud.

Yeah but with 6 professions you can have 3 characters and use all the professions and have one slot left to switch out PVP characters in.

bump it to six slots

Actually an Anet Rep said in an interview that with Expansion, comes more slots, With patience More slots for characters come...
They'd have to do some serious upgrades for character slots to be added, and since the game is free, they only get a large leap in new revenue with expansions, so when expansions come, we'll get more slots, it makes sense.
Rhunex was quite right, there are 4 slots, so pick 4 mains you like, I mean there are only 4 good main classes, y'know since everyone says Necros and Ragners(spelled wrong on purpose) Suck=P
ArenaNet does listen to the people, its kinda wierd playing a game where the company does that, last game I played, World of warcraft, the company (Blizzard) Seemed to go out of its way to ignore people.

Four is fine for now, be lucky you have that. You forget this is a free game and funding isn't flowing in constantly. They have to pay to store our characters and two more slots could be a million more characters. I agree 4 is frustrating, but you need to understand if they could afford to give us more they would. Maybe when the expansion comes out they can up it using the money that it brings in. But for now it should be left at four, it might not be enough, but it is the most for now.

I like the idea. Put me down for an increase to at least 8. Maybe 10 or 12.

I'd be pretty happy with six. I would be willing to wait until an expansion to get any extra slots though.
evil.E
4 is more then enough especially if you use 3 out of the 4 to unlock all the different classes/skills. IMO experimenting is what you 4th toon should be for anyway.
BTW Loviatar did you ever play SOF2 on the old EQ servers?

4 is fine. If you're like me and enjoy both PvE and PvP, you can have three characters, each with a unique primary and secondary profession (ie 1 R/Mo, 1 Me/E, and 1 W/N) and one interchangable PvP character.

I'm not agitated or irritated with those people who so desperately want slots that they really don't need (don't bother to deny it) but I am worried that ArenaNet may go bankrupt or something just because people aren't content with the spacious 4 slot accounts they already have.
So we can expect more slots in the expansion, then? For sure?

I personally do not agree with raising the character limit. Most other games you have to pay for receive less character slots than we do per account. We should consider ourselves lucky.
The fact that we can create and dump PvP characters should be able to make up for any issues with account space we have. We are now capable of equipping our PvP characters with our own weapons from storage. I understand the time you have put into a campaign character may have left you attached, but this is just another example of hording. PvP characters are there so we can replace them with ease; character names are even bound to your account for 60 minutes.
If there were a penalty to deleting PvP chars, I would wholeheartedly sign this petition. As there is none, I stand by my position that we don't need any more inventory space and the ones who want them simply haven't come to appreciate the use-and-reuse value of PvP chars.
However, I do agree with the notion that expansions that include new professions should come with an extra slot.

6 would be good considering current professions possible. I would hate to delete one of my pve characters just to grind up a new build and unlock skills on a profession I had not tried yet. Maybe for chapter 2? huh huh? maybe pretty please. lol I think this is a posibility since I have been hearing rumors of a max level jump as well in chapter two to level 30. Which means more skill points and more skills to unlock and more attibute points to distribute.
True we can replace with the PVP when needed, but I still like aspects of exploring the maps on my own too... so I like to maintain atleast one pve at a high level to be able to do that... and to help others unlock skills and finish missions in my guild so they too can have a decent pvp skill to choose from.
currently I have a PvP for Guild battles.
1 Pve lvl 20 completed game, another leveling up with alt professions.. and another left in presearing to help newcomers to the game for our guild.
Thats my 4... so when I get the 2nd one finished I'll delete the original one and try a new profession set with that name again... Prob Mesner / Necromancer since those are the two I have not touched yet. But it would be nice to have the ability to have 1 of each primary possible.
I'll admit I miss the beta days when we didnt have to unlock anything but the ellite skills, and rune / weapon upgrades... Oh well, thems the breaks...

PS I agree on the hoarding problem Slade. PVP characters should not have bags and backpacks since there is no pickups to be found in PvP battles. Only a belt to hold weapons in for PvP / GvG builds is needed...
Bags and Backpacks for PvE characters ONLY. Otherwise people will treat the PvP characters as another type of storage with 45 slots to fill.

should have 12 slots though... because then you could have 2 of each proffesion And 2 different builds for each primary proffesion...
or have a PvP side of 4 lets say and a PvE side of 6
I think GW should have a level jump of 20 each chapter... the first lvl cap=20, the second lvl cap=40, etc.

4 character slots is rediculus, for obvious reasons stated above we need a bump to 6.

Nah, i think it's fine... really you unlock the skills/item upgrades/runes whenever you play the rp character... i mean... if you have that many characters, it's obvious that you don't use some of the others... and therefore you have room for another character... And that would make WAY too many people create mules... and other such characters for just item storage.... creating a big unbalance between power gamers and casual gamers...
And COMPLETELY retarded... wow... seriously... 12 slots is not only insane, its just stupid... no way in hell you're going to be using 12 characters at one point in time, Ever... think about things first... really... you might "think" its a good idea, but that's only because you left out the "thinking" part of the thought.
If gw had higher lvls it would be rather pointless, considering attributes wont be raising, and it would raise your health by 20 or w/e each level... really... quite pointless, and makes balancing with higher health much harder... i dont like it.

I think it would be much better if there were 5 or 6 character slot instead of the current 4 that is available. But I guess in order to leave something to look forward to they kept it at 4 with the hope of increasing it more in the expansion packs. I only wish we didn't have to wait so long for them to come out but that is what happens when you get attached to such a great game.

6 may been abused, I'm happy with 5
And why the hell would I pay 50 bucks for more slots? The one thing I really love about this game is unlocking everything, if my guys are on a diffrent account, that kinda defies the point.
