I agree, guild capes should have an option to be turned off or on

There doesn't NEED to be any compomise! those who wish to toggle do it, those who don't, don't!

I almost disbanded my guild yesterday just to be rid of the damn cape. A toggle would be much appreciated.

Here's my viewpoint - make them toggle-able in town. And when you are having a nekkid dance party in front of Grenth waiting on favor. If I take my clothes off to dance, the cape should automatically come off. And for christ's sake, why won't my ele armor dye the same blue as my cape? No matter what color mix I use, it turns out pale baby plue, while my guild's cape is a vivid blue. I am beyond annoyed with dye right now.

What about a badge instead of a cape when the cape is toggled off. A badge on the front left side of the chest or for those whose armor is naked on the chest, on a buckle at the waist or armband or such. Would make everyone happy, no? Heck just an armband with your guild colors instead of a badge would work.

I just had a crazy idea. Make your underwear your guild colors when your cape comes off. Yeah baby!

I accidentally started a new thread on this because I couldn't find this one the other day

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=32395

has to do with options instead of on/off

badge/buckle/cape/etc...what do you guys think.

I don't see why people still come up with elaborate, half-witted ideas and excuses, when a simple toggle when not PvP'ing would solve all our problems.

Some people want to be identified by guild but not have a big hankerchief hanging behind them. Since most people look the same because the costume options aren't the greatest in this game it would be nice to have these kind of options. Apparently you can tell who everyone is on sight by not mousing over them and finding their names or having the CTRL key pressed down all the time. I'd like to know what your secret is so we can stop debating having these kinds of options.

I'm afraid this won't help much

1) Badges will ruin the looks of armor just the same
2) They're even worse, because you surely can't distinguish something as small as a badge (or a handwrap) from any other badge
3) They would take more time to implement, because there would be lots of new graphics to design, whereas simply adding an toggle on/off ability can't take that long.

So just make Guild Capes toggleable

I'm not saying to not make them completely toggleable, I'm saying for those who want them, to have these options since there are so many people complaining that people MUST have some way to identify themselves but don't want the hankie flying in the wind. There is a difference.

1. Less visible, less ruin.
2. The armor is detailed enough that you can see them.
3. I know that you don't wave a magic wand and implement something. It was worth suggesting to those who want to be identified by something other than a cape.

Slightly off topic:

Gold sink:

One nice thing for those who actually -like- their capes would be to 'purchase' upgraded cape logos. This might involve an "elite" set of emblems (usable only by X number of guilds) that AN keeps on hand and/or the ability to upload custom logos. Of course, these would need to be approved by AN and would then become 'public' property.

My elementalist already has a trenchcoat, why would he wear a cape over it?

aNet still hasn't put in the /cape feature, so it's not toggleable yet, and I gave up on them a long time ago because they're probably working on a new dance-sync option and other important stuff, but here's a workaround how you can toggle capes:

Get in the water and sit down.

I haven't checked it in all waters but the water in the early Ascalon has magic powers and makes your cape invisible.

Good old water

Well it seems we have to wait another week for the next patch, which is fine, since a patch every 2 weeks is ok. I hope they make capes toggleable... I really want to join a guild, but not till they don't force me to wear a cape 24/7

i haven't read this thread in over a month, so i might have missed a lot of things, but:

after i deleted my old guild with capes+guildhall, i made a guild without a cape for 7 people last week. i bought a sigil a couple of days ago and tried to buy a guild hall but the cantha person said i needed a cape to OWN a guild hall so they can "put our guild cape design as banners".

i can understand the need for capes during PvP, but capes are totally ugly and unnecessary in PvE. cape toggles for the win, please.

It seems silly you need to have a cape to get a guild hall, why not just allow people to buy banner designs?

I did not mind much having a cape... Until I bought a druid armour with a male ranger...

Not to mention some players don't want to join guilds only because they don't like the look of capes... whatever cape design you pick!
+ Since Anet "golded" the guild tag, it's much easier to find guildies in outpost, and cape recognition is even more of a fashion accessory. As such, making it toggable would be nice...

(and when thinking about goldsink, more "fashion accessories" can't hurt... as long as toggable...)

Make it compulsory for GvG if you so wish, but otherwise, a toggle would be much appreciated.

Just yesterday I was asked to join a guild (well, I get asked everyday, and promised officer rank, and anything, but this time it was a serious offer), and sadly, I had to turn down the chance ("I look way too good to wear a cape"). The guild leader said he was already used to that. I can only guess that this is something that needs more work than any of us would expect, but it is still the first thing I look for in new updates.

What if I don't want the girlie cape. I would rather have a nice long flowing cape that is more stately and regal.

we can take off our armors but we can't take off our cape? are these cloth surgically grafted onto the skins behind our neck or something? c'mon, we should be able to remove/wear them like an armor piece (as a toggleable piece, not tradeable item.. of course)

I whole heartedly agree to include a toggle for capes, sometimes i just don't want it to be there because i just don't want it to be. Either i get tired of it flapping around like a piece of paper (not like cloth at all really), i get tired of looking like superman or i simply want to see my armour.

I agree with this so much that i registered just so i could make my voice heard and sign.

I really REALLY hope anet read these forums and notice this huge thread.

Man, Rangers just look retarded with capes on, in most cases. It looks good on my warrior, okay on my Ele and Necro, and just bloody awful on my Ranger.

I joined a real life friend's guild. I bought 15k pyro and dyed the whole thing silver months ago and I really miss the large silver flames.

Toggle is a good thing. It would allow you to prove that you actually got to granite citadel/marhan grotto. :P

Edit: Watch them make it if you toggle you have to have to have the cape in our inventory JUST to spite us.

It should be like the pet name command , /petname.

Make it /cape = cape on (mandatory for GvG and tombs not PvP).
and /capeoff = cape off

It shuld not be toggle all capes because some people like to show their capes.

Wearing a guild cape doesn't bother me as any class. My main is a Ranger, and I don't think it looks bad at all.

Also, considering the guild tag issue I brought up before, where another guild could have the exact same tag as you, not wearing a cape could end up being detrimental. You might be confused for a member of the other guild, who could have a bad reputation. The only indentifier you would have for these people is the 3 or 4 letter tag after thier name.

I can see the reasoning behind not wanting to wear a cape. Some of them aren't the greatest look... but on the other hand, the confusion that could be generated by people running around with the same tag could be damaging to one guild or another.

If they can fix the tag issue (so that all guild tags are unique), THEN I'll agree that capes should be toggleable.

I am full agreement with the toggling of capes idea. My current guild does not have a hall nor capes. We could certainly afford it but the mandatory cape wearing pre-requiste holds us back. The art in this game is spectacular and the capes look good on most characters. Some players, just dont like the capes. I think we should have the chioce, possibly in a future update.

im so sick of capes. even tho the cape i designed for my guild rocks, it got old fast. there should be an option to just make yours or all capes off. that way, if u still wanted to get a cool pic of ur entire guild with thier capes, u just need to turn capes on and u can see every1's even if they have thiers off.

All minor things which I would like to see changed, simply by making the cape toggleable (is that even a word?). I know it ruins the way of identification thru capes COMPLETELY, but hey, who the heck knows: "oh thats the cape with the skull, fire and castle-like end of the cape, so thats (insert name) guild."? Nobody does. Or just the ability to put the banner on your shield or sumtin.
its a bit sad innit, cos u can't c all ur armour lol

So, they should implement it anyway since it wouldn't affect you at all, you'd be able to stick with your "capes make me 1337" attitude and everybody else, could turn theirs off.

Most games don't have any identifiable insignia such as capes for their guilds.

There is absolutely no reason to force people to wear them if they realy don't like them.
