it feels good to help the poor

i went to la today and gave away 20 free major runes, it feels good to help poorer players, we should make a national charity day in la once a week where u give away all the items you dont need to poorer players.

that could lead to beggars ala d2 (bring free soj, bring free tals, etc)

It is also difficult to seperate the needy from the scammers or greedy.

It would have to be something kept quiet. Over the course of the day, randomly give a major rune to someone. Do it privately. That should keep moochers out of the way. Of course, you might be giving it to someone's alt, and they might have thousands in their storage, but that's a risk you take.

Well just don't give them to anyone who asks for them... it's really simple.

We have a weekly iQ giveaway in Ascalon, we usually have 300-500 minor/major runes and fun weapons/shields/foci from the week of farming. It's really satisfying, although we usually have more runes than noobs, if you can believe it, but a lot of stuff piles up over the course of a week.

I usually ask people to meet me at storage and if they're in pre-searing armor, they get it otherwise, not.

I don't know many people who actually would hang onto pre-searing armor just to mooch. .. or maybe I am being too optimistic. =/

I go to LA dist 1 and play little games with people for runes. Hide and go seek is fun! I fill up my inventory with runes and spend a few hours having fun with people.

I give away my "junk" by running up to random low level characters in Old Ascalon, whispering, "Here, I'm giving you this for free," and trading them a high-damage weapon, minor/major rune, or weapon upgrade.

I'm sure I've given greedy jerks some goods for resale, but I'm also sure I've twinked random newbies with bitchin' weapons and the minor/major runes needed to meet their skill requirements.

So, do any of you Mother Theresas ever help the poor in real life?

I personally have, though theres Hobos comming out the Ying Yang in Austin.

Though I restrict my Monetary/Item charity to my guild mates myself. Though I often help people thru to the next areas.

Qi Ang is a poor monk here in Tyria... He spends most of his time healing ungrateful adventurers who pay no heed to the level of the monsters they wish to attack. At a young age he became addicted to mixing and applying dyes, wasting all of his savings. He also needs new tattoos to keep his healing skills up to par. Won't you please help him? If not now... when?

1000 gold a month... that's like only 33 gold a day, something you make off a couple mob drops easily. How could you say no to such a face? Please, help now, and give this moocher a better life

The newbie giveaways are quite enjoyable, but we try to organize them spontaneously to reduce the number of vultures who come begging for runes (level 20 characters who only want to turn around and try and sell the things we've been trying to give to those who want to use them.)

Honestly though, the hardest part is holding all the excess runes til the next giveaway. If only we could get an extra bag for our characters for donation items. A bag that you put runes into and once in there, they can only be donated to lowbie characters. Let's call it "Donation Storage". That'd be something we can bring to ANet to implement and feel good about.

That, and runes need to stack. Please please please let them stack.

I give away alot of items on a daily basis. especially items that I'm only going to get 5-20 gold for at a merchent. I give away alot of lower end swords, bows, hammers (7-10 9-13 dmg)....yesterday I gave away a Minor Mesmer Rune and a Minor Necromance Rune.

if you don't need it and you don't need the money for something else...why not help out some of the lower leveled players.
