LOL - yes it would be fun to have other options for our cyber dolls...I would like to see our weapons hilted in the city

There are many valid reasons listed here, I too made a guild so I could:

- Make a cape
- Make a web site (www.guildwarsarmy.com)
- Try a military guild concept
- Stop all the unsolicited guild invites

PS Mistress Eyahl, is your avatar a picture of you? If it is, I have to say WOW - beautiful eyes!

Here's an answer. People have joined this game from traditional MMORPGs and have found that they miss the feeling of community that they get from playing with a more consistant playerbase. If I ever thought I'd ever see a given player twice a year in this game, I might strike up a conversation. But in this game there's no community larger than a guild.

So guilds with only one/two player(s) in them dilute the feeling that we're playing in teams.

Now, that's not a good enough reason for me to care one way or the other what people do. Go for it. But it's a reason that I can see for a complaint.

I hate capes. I made it until Droknar's before I got sick of the random guild invites and the never-ending questions from those I partied with.

"Why aren't you in a guild?"

I hate the cape! Male elem, the cape looks terrible. Give me a cloak! That would actually look good IMO.

Ya capes are crap. I want an option of putting the Emblem on my shield instead of cape..

How about THREE-man-once-four-man guilds!? Huh? Huh? o.o

Though we all still hate having capes >o>

I mean our design rocks, but sometimes it clashes with our outfits.

In *my* personal opinion, I think in order to make a guild there should be 2 conditions, which are:

1) Must have completed the final mission
2) Must pay 100k

Once you do those 2 things then you are able to create a guild.

When you create said guild you would get a free cape and a free hall.

wait till I've done over 100 hours game play before I can use guild chat etc to chat to my buddies... I don't think!... I think you should have a min amount of Chars to open a guild though

how many guilds are there that stand for nothing more than a bunch of people who wear the same cape?

i don't mind how many members a guild has - and all those [Dark/Skull-whatchumakakus-leet-wehaveahall]groups pretty much amuse me when i see them spamming for ppl.
[no offense but a sarcastic smile aside]

i wish there were more guilds that try to act out their roleplay in public.
my guild may be small and we are pretty picky when it comes to new members: most people don't want to participate in rpging aside the normal pve-content.

This is my opinion on the subject:

A Guild of one is no Guild.

Inorder to be granted a permanent Guild there should be at least 8 members and you should have to maintain that membership for 3 days after its inception. Guild Wars is a TEAM game, there is NO solo aspect to it regardless of what part of the game you prefer. With 8 members you can participate in missions, quests, arenas and be a team in HoH. If you are a single entity and would like to be in a guild then try and group with people that are in guilds and show them with your actions and skill that you would be a good addition to their Guild and try that route.

If your thinking is going to be why doesn't someone join me and you see 10 others going "join my guild" for this reason or that, then maybe that is the problem. I can tell you that if you're breaking your arm trying TELL me or us how good you are please don't wonder why we don't respond. We have never advertised for members, we have been in pug's with people that we were impressed by and or played well with and invited them to the Guild but it was always with the intention of helping the Guild.

Wouldn't that sort of defeat the point of having guild mates to play the game with?

this sounds about right with one notable exception. i think that if you don't have 8 members 7 days after the guilds inception it should be disbanded automatically. if have 8 after the week long period then you should be permanent until you decide otherwise.

I think ppl who insist guilds have a minimum number of players are just selfish. If you enjoy having x numbers of players in your guild, then power to you. But trying to enforce your playing style on others, who paid the game and the cape/guildhall is plain obnoxious.

3 days, 7 days either way is good but there should be a hard time limit in order to obtain the 8 members. Also there should be a 7 day wait until you can try again or you'll have the bozo's that will exploit the system and just restart the Guild every week.

Nothing bugs me more than this chat line in EVERY district:

Join Boil on my Ass Guild (BAG) (or something similar), we have KOOL KAPES and a hall soon"

No announced purpose, casual or hard core, PVE or PVP or GVG, just "we have cool capes" and we plan to get a hall for no reason. Bulk recruiting, quantity over quality.

Pathetic.

PS;

We don't "recruit", we invite after interview and partying for a mission. And we don't charge anything either.

How many guilds actually play through the game from say immediately after searing, down to the end of the game, with guildmates?

I did probably 90% with one guild mate, probably 15% with 3 guild mates, maybe 25% with 2. After yaks though due to RL's of everyone involved, it was more of a chat system and less of a group with your guild only system, more like me + 1 other + NPCs the whole way through.

I guarantee that 99% of the GW crowd does not do guild groups all the way though, 99% of guild war guilds cant even field 8 people on a good day, which is the whole problem.

Also, the RP explaination would be that after you took down the powerful end bosses then you would create some sort of legacy and people would want to train under you and all that.

Like there is any RP in this game anyway.

From others games I am used to leading 50ish people with 28+ on in peak hours.

In GW, due to the outlook of the general public, such things are almost dreams...

However, I guess in those games there was actually something for 28 people to get together and do, or 54 or 72 for that matter.

GW might just need content that is guild group only, missions that start from your guild hall, and NPCs cannot be taken in, and stuff like that.

Any amount of players is fine to group together in the guild hall and do guild missions. 28+ is NP you just have to split the loot 28 ways.

Or make your have a district in your guild hall where your hall is under attack, and anyone can jump to and from that district at will, and all enter at one common access point while there base is being overrun. 28 people can zone into the district same time and try to fight off waves of enemies from every direction. Say like 50 bosses in a sea of like 300 enemies, each one drops some gold item, and each enemy is at least 28th.

Thats the kinda stuff GW needs.

Then people would actually benefit themselves by going away from the 2 person guild model and more into the 50 person guild model...

I registered my guild back during the early betas. There were originally 5 of us in the guild, but since that time the other 4 have all broken off to form their own guilds. I am now a one man guild, with both a cape and a hall (from a sigil that we won). I have not sought to recruit any other members because I don't want to at this time. Eventually I will, but right now I am content with exploring on my own. Should I be disbanned? Even though my guild is older than most? Even though the hall was hard earned?

I don't get what the problem some people have with a small guild like mine is. Other people's guilds, no matter what the size or make up is, have absolutely no bearing on you or how you play your game. The argument about there not being enough guild prospects because they are all in one man guilds is nonsense. Get over yourselves and stop trying to dictate the way you play to everyone as if you think you are mightier. If how these small guilds played really affected how you play I could see the reason for complaining, but the truth is that they don't.

By definition a one man guild is a oxymoron. A guild is an association of persons formed to protect mutual interests.

I've talked to a few girls who I was trying to get into my Guild. I've gotten the "Oooh, no ty I don't like capes" one alot a few times. From posts above I can kind of see now that this isn't just a proverbial "I have to wash my hair" deal.. Interesting.

I'm in a two person guild, mainly becuase everyone else is already in a guild. If you ask me, they really need to take out the one Guild per account thing, it's not easy at all trying to get even five people becuase of these pointless monopoly guilds. I'de like to see the guild roster capacity shortend to around 30-50. Who needs more than 25 active members anyway?

My idea of recruiting is to do quests with people, if they are nice and i like them, then I ask them to join my guild regardless of mark and cape. I have little simpathy for spamming clans, or monopoly guilds, all thoughts of 1 man guilds aside.

So you dont have to disband your guys or vice versa.

The only reason I formed a guild was to put an end to getting "Would you join my guild" whispers and guild invitations without so much as a hello every two minutes. Why on earth would someone accept a guild invitation from someone they've never adventured with to join a guild they never heard of?

If I ever decide to join a legitimate guild, I'll turn my guild over to someone else. Right now, it's a guild for people who aren't interested in being in a guild. We only have one rule...don't use guild chat!

I have to admit that I've invited random people to my guild.. I don't really like to do it, but so far i've been lucky, they're all pretty good... (not that i've managed to get many people or anything) Everytime i've partied with someone really good who i've wanted in the guild, and i ask, they're already in a guild.. and well, I have to put my own enjoyment first, quite simply I want to do some guild battles, and if that means I have to invite some random people in order to do it, I will.. worst comes to worst I can kick them out or never use them for guild battles :P
I also think a merge guild option would be great, I've been trying to persuade a couple of small guilds to merge with mine, people are definitely interested in it, but they dont like to get rid of their name and cape, and i'm not willing to throw away the 80k i spent on the hall.. especially now i have 23 gold in the bank

Our guild is heading for 30 members, we never openly recruit, and I have personally met 20 of the guild members. I find if I want new members to my guild I get a friend to play the game a bit and they end up buying it. It's the best way to do things, jsut get friends an family addicted and your guild will grow quickly becasue they will get their friends involved.

I'm at a birthday party tommorow where I will recruit another guild member, I have already spoken to them and it's just a case of gettin net access to login and send the invite.

I'd also say it's a 50/50 split of male and female players in my guild. Mainly because I get a friend involved then their partner want to know what it's all about so they join. This help becasue their is usually always 3-4 people on line to play with.

Blind recruiting is not our thing, we like to know who were dealing with so we either have to play with people or know them. Oh and if you see any member of Obliviata Wolf [Owlf] openly recruiting without having played with you. Let me know I will soon demote them.

I was invited and joing a guild within the first hour of starting the game. the guild AND cape sucked bum hairs (everyone offline all the time) so I left.

I had the moeny so I made a guild and my own cape design.

got invited into an RPG group, disbanded my guild. got MAJORLY sick of looking at the BRIGHT white capt with the light red cross design. and the leader didnt even entertain me paying for a cape change.

so I left and recreated my original one-man guild

I now have 2 other people in my guild. my guild is becoming the "I dont want a guild" guild LOL

I like to look cool. Most guilds have horrific capes. Thus, I made my own guild to create my own cape that actually looks decent on pretty much every character I create. If I could maintain this cape within another guild I'd be delighted to join, but I can't. As such, I will always be in my own guild with my own, rather attractive cape.

Seriously, what's with the flames and that sword?

Talk about over-used.
