Idea: Stylist NPC (Possible Money sink)
MithranArkanere
THey have lost millions of sunk gold in April's fools...
Many people would have their hair changed for the party...
I HATED all the male versions of my characters but the paragon... I almost cryed seen my poor monk with that... thing on her head... XD.

Please let us also change the sex of our chars. I have male warrior and monk who are real far in game so I don't want to delete them, but I totaly like female chars. (The armor looks better and I'd rather spend a few hours looking to a woman than to a man )
Please Anet? plz plz plz plz

I think that this is a pretty good idea but I bet that the rich players out there are gonna abuse this system and change their appearance every 10 minutes or so.
it wont stay traditional to the mmorpg style in which you make a character and stick with him or her. Although i like the idea of the small changes like earings and such.

Just by saving the server date and time into a variable, you'll be able to prevent new changes until some time has passed.
Warn about that in the stylist panel:
"You won't be able to change your appearnace in one day/one week/one moth/one year/one love/what ever, are you sure you want to make it?"
And done!
Not staying like traditionalmmorpg is something that I think is strongly 'good'.

Small/Reasonable changes should be allowed, should there ever be a Stylist.

The small changes would be things like I have previously listed.
Hair Style, Hair Color, Goatee, so forth. Ways of obtaining and having these, again, I have already listed and will be happy to list them again.

This would be a great addition. But only the obvious, logic changes like hair color/style, beards/accessories.
Face change, sex change, size change is too much and ruins the point.
The options mentioned above would be more than enough to kill the "cloning" problem.

I'm sorry you guys, but if you want your face changed, create a new character. Face change is to much to the "extreme", even ANET could do it.
Start accepting that, and enjoying the fact that they are working on (and hear our call) to have a Stylist! Not a Plastic Surgeon..

It'd be really good if we could get some feedback from the developers on this...if they are never ever going to do it ( and this idea was suggested years ago) then why not just say?
I'm sick of wanting and waiting for something that may never happen =s
Guild Wars 2 is in the works and still no idea if this will happen for us..? Bit ridiculous.

Gimme Money Plzkthx
It'd really be nice if we could get some word from anet on whether or not this will happen.
chembaron
A lot of people have had this idea (including myself). If it were me I'd limit it to hair/facial hair and color.
Lydz
Just simply changing your hairstyle and colour would be fine imho. That way we have variety without much coding needed
sneakysmith12
/signed also I'd liked them to change facial expresions as well.
Issac
/signed they come out with new styles in other expansions but we still have to stick with the ones from prophecies, yeah I need to make my characters look cooler lol.

They can make reconnects possible but not a simple hair style change? I'm all for the idea and I'd definatly want it to be possible.

Well, perhaps we'll see a hairdresser one day, perhaps not. But if we do, it will be in a distant future.

i think it will take anet along time to implement the idea in to the game; i beleive they said it was more compleex than it looks.
Some people are sayingn they did at april fools but this was merely changing your hair to the corresponding hair of the oppisite sex.

Hair are HATS.
Notice that the Halloween pointi hats or the Yule hats replace hair?
They can add tittles, titles are variables much larger than a mere two cypher number for a hair type.
If they can add titles and make hats replace hair, the can make hair stylists.
It's no to 'change' the height, or the skin, not even the hair!
It's just to 'cover' the saved hair with the changed hair, just like it has a hat type head gear.
It is possible. Don't put forward a 'Gail said'. What she said is that it won't come as a minor update. That's all.
But we have already had some mayor ones already.
In suggestions, we never say 'We want this now', we just say 'We'd like this'.
When, How, or even if it is possible at all, its' something for them to decide.
If they add it, we'll see it, if they don't we won't. That's all.

Lovi, are you like struggling here to get the argument through? She said the answer was a big no for a simple three day weekend event, but not for an over all Hair Stylist.
It's been said before that Gaile has said that it will take time. A weekend event is just a massive joke and is ignorant. But, a permanent way won't come for a while more. A Hair Stylist is something I expect in a massive update, or in a expansion like the up coming GWEN.
She has also said that they know we players (who want this) want this and that they are working on it.
No, don't ask me to show you quotes as I read these quotes in either this topic or other topics regarding this and didn't think of saving them to debate people with..

It's settled. Make the NPC Stylist. Anet reads guru and they are reading what the consumers are demanding.
NPC STYLIST..NOW!!!
It would be fun to have since Guild Wars is already boring.

I think if this feature ever gets added it's likely to be in GW:EN, or at least I hope it's in GW:EN, because I can't see them casually adding this in some big update but I could be wrong.
I'm a little confused about GW:EN actually, cos as far as I know you need a campaign to play it cos its only an expansion. So does that mean you can't create a character in GW:EN-you have to use ones you've made in previous campaigns?
Correct me if I'm wrong but, If thats true, I'd imagine there won't be any new hair styles/faces as we've previously seen with every add-on because you won't be able to create a character in this expansion? (in theory)
And if thats true, I think It'd make sense to bring a feature like this in GW:EN, because they could offer you new hairstyles (and all the old ones) through a new means being a stylist. So I'm crossing my fingers! ^^
Hope I've made sense ^^;

In my opinion, A.net should change their business policy.
It seem they constantly try to give players everything for free.
One example is additional storage, for which they had to make a software development (money) and reserve more storage space in their servers (other money).
So, they invested their money to make a free gift to players.
And despite of this, many players complained it was not enough, it came too late, and started to ask for more and more (of course for free).
This approach has a limitation, in the sense that if they don't have money to develop a feature, they don't.
My suggestion is to use an approach similar to Oblivion, in which Bethesda sold mini-upgrades (like for instance horse armors).
Game balance, hard mode, elite areas, new missions and so on are "core" features of the game, and it's correct that they focus on them and use their budget to develop these core features.
Character re-customizations, additional storage and those kind of things are not essential.
But instead of saying like Gayle did "it costs thousands of dollars to develop and we don't have", why don't they develop and sell this thing on the store?
They insist in their policy of giving everything they can for free, and it's a big mistake.
Let's throw some figures for example: how much could this development cost? 60.000 $ maybe?
Well, do it and sell on the store a code that allows a complete character recustomization for 1$.
There are 3 million copies around, is it so difficult to think that 60.000 customers will be available to spend 1$ to save hours and hours of work?
I think that this cost would be immediately recovered, and the month after many players will be again unsatisfied and will change again, and maybe for more than one character.
Cheap things sold in big numbers would represent a constant money flow, that would finance also further game improvements.
Those who don't want to spend money because they don't consider this essential, simply don't spend and concentrate on essential things.
But this would allow players who are interested in non essential features to have them, and make a selection between real fans who want to support the game and whining kids who feel themselves entitled to ask for everything and more for free.
Conclusion: give for free the essential updates, sell the non essential and purely estethic ones.
I for myself would be available to support economically A.net with such things, because they made one of the best game ever and since I've been playing GW I haven't bought nearly anything else.

Just my opinion, but you should take more care and/or time over character creation if you know it's going to be with you for a long time.
Additonally, to those that stated this would reduce the number of clones, I believe the opposite would be true if it were implemented.

This screams Custom items.
Most suggestions like this are denied for two reasons.
Time and money.
I hope arena net listens to the common user and creates something like this but it leaves a big decrease with production time.I support this idea all the way but we will need to have some limits on this because ppl will abuse it and some stuff is not guild wars related Examples: Metal Hair Ties, Overly done rings, Modern Necklace, etc...
Things I really want to see.
Dye Preview
Armor Preview
New Hairstyles (2K Per change)
Ability to dye your hair (Dye Cost)
Tat's for all classes (Requires Quest)
Custom color schemes (Requires dye)
(Abnaxus please dont encorage over pricing.I do agree if they charged for the new stuff as an all in one extras pack with collectables like the game of the year stuff I whould be fine with that BUT buying it little by little sux and takes too long. It should cost $10-$20 MAX)

And many has been remodeled or improved over time.
So, the 'should take more care' does not count. Since is impossible to choose a hair style that does not exist.
