Free Tutorial for Trolls Farming for W/Mo or Monks
Dumah
Whats the equipment to use with the monk primary? I would think it would be the censor's since it has the +10 versus physical. Anyways, must I use the exact stat distribution? I'm also using Healing Hands instead of Mark of Protection mainly because I haven't captured MoP. Also, does it matter how many trolls I take on at one time? The problem is that I die right before they die (they have about 1/20th life left before I get killed).
Edit: Never mind, I followed the exact build and it works quite well.

Hey guys.
Im a W/Mo, and Ive tried to get this farming setup to work without luck.
I cant get this to work. Are my atributes way off?
Healing 8
Smiting 12
Protection 9
Tried with Protection up to max and healing down to 0, but didnt do much good....
I keep dying after 3-6 sec, and Im getting worn out. Im using the following gear:
Fiery Long Sword of Fortitude (HP +20)
Protective Icon: Energy +27, HR -1, HP +30
My armor is +85, complete, with bonus vs. physical attacks.
My HP is 560.
Energy 47.
Hope someone can give me a clue

From the other thread I posted this in, changed it a little...

Sealots fire/divine boon spammer still works in many places with only melee mobs, problem is you want many of them at once. I'ts not a "I can take up to X number of enemys" build but a "if there are at least 4 enemys I can take them". 20 seconds of melee dmg invurnability. Mo/Me Smite 16 (sup) Prot. 12 (min) Divine. 7 (min) Major vigor. Item with "Enchantments last longer". ~42+ E (didn't start with these items tho... ) Spellorder: Balthatzar's Spirit (get energy on hit) Essence Bond (get 1 energy on hit)<- not really needed if you fight against a big group Zealots Fire (48 Fire damage) Archane Echo Mark of Protection -> and that is copied to A.echo now. Will be available as the first one ends. Symbol of Wrath (35 holy, 5 sec) Balthazar's Aura (26 holy, 10 sec) Divine Boon (spam to trigger zealots fire, heal 42h) Mark of Protection (the archane echo copy, as soon as it's available) spam more divine boon and symbol of wrath. Dont forget to turn off divine boon as you prepare for the next group. |

I assume these trolls never shatter enchantments and such? How long will that remain like that? :P
Luggage
Minotaurs and trolls don't shatter, they do have interupt attack tho that can get you if you are unlucky

The Avicara that essentially protect the trolls are your enchant removers. I'd say 1 out of every 5 runs will be blocked by Avicara. It's possible to beat them but quite a pain.
For any Mo/Me out there, use Physical Resistance stance in the Inspiration line of your mesmer skills. You don't need to put any attribute points in it and you'll get 30 seconds of +40 armor vs physical damage. Definitely take this over protective spirit. Compliments well with healing hands too!
Trolls aren't worth it anyway though...

I hit those trolls when I want a get a quick skill point. It's nice to get an occasional gold drop and I was lucky enough to get two from the trolls in the caves but that was just a horse shoe in you know where
super dooper
based on the amount of time it takes, how many of them there are, and the fact that they are one of the few places where it works really well.. they're worth it.

I never die unless I forget to cast Zealot's Fire, haha.. I've been farming them for gold, but once in a blue moon I get a rare Shield, got an awesome rare Runic Hammer once, too... booo! |
Are you taking on the whole bunch or trying to draw 3-4 of them out at once? Either way, how do you do it? The whole mob overwhelms me and trying to draw a few only triggers the whole mob to chase me. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, it's been 2 weeks since this was first posted. Does this farming spot still exist?
Zenos
Yes it does

Seriously, they do seem to be on a spoil-sport mission at the mioment. Maybe they like destroying the fun things which they create? It's like inviting everyone to a party but telling them they can't eat or drink the stuff on the table, don't you think?. |
your not just gonna get over 500k for materials and craftin just by doin missions.

It was nerfed a while ago in that nothing good drops anymore. You'll get plenty of troll tusks and raven staves and you're lucky if something purple drops.....much less gold.
As for the build, the key is either doing damage fast or being able to keep your health up. If you don't have the skills, go for damage fast and pump smiting to 15 or 16.
Only once was I able to use just monk skills and kill the main group and taking 2 or 3 was no walk in the park either. I used all sorts of combinations but here's what worked:
Healing Hands, Orison, Reversal of Fortune, Symbol of Wrath, Balthazar's Aura, Zealot's Fire, Retribution, Balthazar's Spirit
I played around with different elites and something other than retribution but they never worked. The only way I can consistently farm trolls as a monk though is to use my mesmer secondary, Physical Resistance.
Even without any points in Inspiration you get 30 seconds of +40 armor against melee. You can't lose. That plus healing hands and the trolls will actually start giving you a little health. A +5 armor on your staff couldn't hurt either or +% enchantment length as healing hands and balthazar's aura will last longer. Unfortunately, Symbol of Wrath does not.

I think you're running low(er) on energy because of the extra energy you're putting into healing yourself without Mark of Protection.
Really Granamyr? I do it pretty fluently with my Monk, only die if I cast wrong or forget to cast something.
