This thread is meant for PvEers to say exactly what they want. If you are not a "PvEer" do not post here. Do not disagree or try to disprove someone else's point of view. It won't work, if there's anything I've learned.

As I consider myself a PvPer, my post stops here. Continue.

Where is the PvE&Pers thread? I do believe they make up the majority of the players in Guildwars. They rea not straight PvP and they are not straight PvE, most of them develop a char in PvE to be used in PvP.

Er.... I dunno... Either make a new thread, or post in both?

What I would like to see? More maps, many more maps. More "tournaments" not just HoH, but in other locations too. Perhaps maybe even special monthly tournaments for unique weapons

I'd like to see more of a variety of weapon/item drops (more purples and golds since I haven't seen but 1 or 2 going through the missions lately since the various patches), and inclusion of different types of armor (than the assortment we have now). I'm happy with the skills/spells.

I'm pleased with Guild Wars, but there is always room for positive improvement.

C'mon guys, this is fair and he's not flaming or complaining.

What do you want as a PvE player?

I want Dungeons, very very difficult dungeons, like underworld but more dungeon'y.

I want Glint+ Glint is a very hard mob and needs a strategy to defeat. I want different Glints, the perfect thing would be a Hall of Glints (HoG) with every Glint having different skills.

I don't want dungeons. I don't want very very difficult dungeons. I just want new areas with pretty scenery. It can be as easy as pre-sear.

I don't wanna fight mobs. That gets tiring too. I just want a nice, tranquil area, much like pre-searing to hang out and watch the scenery, explore together.

A nice and in depth story to accompany would definitely be a plus.

Hmm...loaded question I'm sure. But in light of the current uproar, I'll bite...just because.

What do I want in my PvE content:
1.) Exciting and interactive quests and missions - done.
2.) A compelling story and a part to play in it - done.
3.) An expansive world so there's always more to do - done/in progress.
4.) Large array of items and rewards - in progress.
5.) Character customization and depth - in progress.

What do I want in my *game*:
1.) Many options of combat abilities/roles to choose from - done.
2.) Ability to practice combat on my own terms in my time - done.
3.) Meaningful PvP to participate in - done.
4.) Combat based on strategy, style, and skill - done.

ANet has done a great job of meeting all my expectations and wants for this game. The small complaints I may have (such as the original collectors interface) are being resolved in as timely a manner as I could ever hope for in an online game. Additional content is being developed and "Chapter 2" will be here before we know it.

I am a happy camper.

Disclaimer:
The feelings expressed above are mine, not yours. I was asked what I wanted so I have provided answers.

If you're happy, then I hope we meet in-game sometime as teammates or foes, for both of us will walk away having had a good experience because we're both doing what we enjoy.

If you're not happy, the world is a very big place and there's a ton of games out there. I'm sure there's something somewhere you will be happy with. May you find it as quickly and painlessly as possible.

1)The end of the complaining when new fixes come out from both PvPers and PvEers.

2) Ok I'll say it, more char levels/level cap increase on the PvE but if they were to add this, they would have to formulate some type of roll back so that if that character does enter arena/HoH, they aren't above and beyond the PvP only group.

Better yet, why not make PvE strictly PvE go to who cares what level and but still be able to unlock gear for PvP and make PvP strictly PvP. much like how in Diablo 2 you can play Ladder character but they can't interact with non-ladder characters and HC char can not interact with non-HC chars.

3) More shiny objects to collect. Can't help it, I like to see gold and purples and horde them, knowing a) I probably won't use 75% of them and won't trade 90% of them.

4) more room for storing my shiny new baubbles.

5) The cubbies to win the world series and for the Tennesse Titans to actually make an attempt to put a legitimate team on the field or confess that they know they are going to be a turd this year and they are waiting for the next few years for the cap room.

6) For the US government to open the JFK files and the Roswell incident. I know aliens have landed here dangit. and I also want my cake and be able to eat it too but I don't lie in the bed I made.

Outside of numbers 5 or 6, I really don't care if they happen. I enjoy the game so I won't be upset in the least if it never comes to fruition. Just my wishlist.

Why I want the end of the favor system?

Because Favor depends on PvP matches, as a PvE player that pretty much have done it all the only thing left is the bonus maps that we can only get when we have favor.

When europe gets favor and I go to ToA can you guess what district I end up with?

English 4.

ToA gets full of lv20 players because there is nothing left and we are fully dependent on PvP guilds to win favor.

Customization!!!

Lots of different weapons/armors/aesthetic mods and so on. I dont' care if the stats are the same, this is a fantasy game, who doesn't want to look cool AND different?

Think about it...new updates could bring sheer variety of items...the hardcore grinder would be happy (oops, one less player for World of Blockcraft), and even the casual gamer would appreciate it.

Good try at a post Weezer. Buts its been hijacked by the pie brigade.

I would first like to see Guildwarsguru.com place topic area for PVP and PVE. ie Camp Fire PVE and Camp fire PVP.

All of my posts are PVE issues. I never post a comment on a PVP issue because its not my Scene. Nearly all my posts are flamed by a PVP player who comes along spots the post and doesnt read the previous posts. A lot of the arguments on the website spawn from cross wires between a PVP player and a PVE player.

Please give PVE an section where we can moan away together and cry on each others shoulders every time update Wednesday comes around and we feel we have been stuffed,

Then I will tell you what I really really want

  • New areas to explore, something to do other than UW or FoW.
  • Deeper magic item system.
  • Super unique items.
  • More customization to appearance.
  • Much more variation in armors (not looks wise).
  • The ability to capture elites earlier in the game.
  • Upgrades for armors.
  • A voting kick system.

I would like more money. I blew mine on armor. Maybe Anet will give me money. . . . hmm . . . probably not.

I met Glint last night. I was going to try to kill her but, gosh darn it, I liked her. We got along really well, even though she didn't give me any money. This bothered me at first, but then I realized that nobody's perfect.

What do I want in PvE? Nothing, really. I'm pretty happy. Maybe some more money.

Ok, I had posted a thread but no one seem to be bothered in replying to it on the idea I had. Anyway, I have copied it, and pasted it below.

Hopefully, this will get some sort of feedback.

We have 4 seperate weapon sets that we can set up for our characters. However, for example. One of my characters is an Ele/Mo and I am currently setup as a Fire Ele.

What I would like to be able to do, is setup different Weapon Sets based on the different weapons and skills of my characters and have a set of attribute points for each weapon set.

So, if I want a full on Fire Ele, I can set my Attrib Points to give me a full on Fire Ele, set a second weapon set and make a full on Air ele.

What I would like to be able to do, is set my Weapon Sets and have Attrib Points for each Weapon Set. THis way, I can switch between the weapon sets, try out the different weapons, without having to worry about refund points that often.
Obviously, we only have the same 200 Attrib points across the board but depending on which Weapon Set is used, depends on how the Attrib Points are issued between the skill sets given in that weapon set.
In effect, if we have weapons in Set 1 and all the attrib points have been used, we go into set 2, and we have 200 attrib points available to use for the weapon we wish to use in set 2.

So if you were a warrior, you could go from sword to axe and play around with them without having to worry about moving attrib points around. This would increase the fun factor, enabling people to have more enjoyment out of different skills and weapons sets available and also help people to learn about the different skills a lot more quickly.

Obviously, when going into GvG or PvP, arenas etc the weapon set you choose before you enter is the weapon set you have to play with. There is no changing weapon sets in mid flow. Just like there is no way for you to change the skills after you have entered the gaming zones.

Same goes for Questing and Missions.

At least this way, if you had areas where you just wanted to try different sets out, you go into town, change over weapon set and off you go again. No worries about changing attrib points.

The only reason to have refund points, is if you needed to change the attrib points around, to try different combinations. However, the refund points would stay very similar to what they are now across the board to at least balance it out, or just a few more refund points to go across all 4 weapon sets.

Obviously, one thing I noticed in one thread, was related to having Skills on a Quick list. So, if you have your favourite skills, you click the Skill Set saving you having to go through the whole list choosing skills.

Also, with the above two options, you could lock in certain skill and weapon sets, saving you having to choose the different sets related to your weapon or skills.

Anyway, just my thoughts on helping to improve gameplay and helping people to try out more weapons and skills a lot more easily.

Voting Kick System! I like it!

How about something similar to what Diablo 2 instituted where Diablo would appear randomly in someone's game (in GW's case, a mission). The system would throw out a 'warning' that it was coming then BANG! Some lucky party gets the chance at an ultra-elite that can ONLY be found this way. Perhaps it could be triggered by...well, I don't know, but you get the idea.

Also, and this would apply to both PvE and PvP: If a player gets dropped, allow for a certain amount of time (say 5 minutes) for them to REJOIN their party. It's so annoying when someone honestly gets dumped by their ISP and can't rejoin the party.

For me, I'd like to see an end to the favor system as well. I think if we really want to seperate PvP and PvE (as they should be: they are completely different game types), then whoever's winning in the Hall of Heroes right now isn't really important to whether or not I can gain access and clear the underworld.

Speaking of which, where are Melandru's, Dwayna's, and Lyssa's WaW places?

The main reason I don't like PvE very much is cause all the enemies are stupid. Better AI would help... Then again, fighting 3000 human-like players would suck... So it would be more fun, but harder. You'd have to balance it. (really... why do they stand in Symbols of Wrath and Firestorms?)

More stuff to hunt down. I managed, out of pure luck, to snag a pretty cool looking fellblade for my smiter. Where are the rest of there collector's items? There's... what? 2 cool looking swords? That's no good. And we've all seen several hundred dragon swords - they're no longer cool.

More customization... and I don't mean dyes. "Hey! Look! My smiter looks exactly like... every other smiter in this town!! maybe I'll give him a generic mustache! That'll be real different"... ... ... Er... I dunno... We need more different looking armours. Even the 15k sets aren't a great way to differenciate ourselves anymore. Weapon customization would be cool. Infact, make it like making a cape: You get a series of different designs, etc. for each different type of sword (function wise. like rate of fire, etc.).

In a perfect scenario? A 5th character slot. When? On the day that, if it ever comes, they put PvEers at a disadvantage to PvP-only-characters (I think you guys are already screwed using your RP characters in PvP, but PvP requests would probably make it worse).

Anyway... there's my 2 cents... the other 98 are in the PvP thread

More varied Missions. I think it'd be interesting to see a mission where there is NO fighting. Maybe there's a heavily boobitrapped area where you need to go in like Indiana Jones and fight not mobs, but assorted traps, solve puzzles, discover clues, and such.

I also think a mission where you're just a small cog in a larger war would be interesting. Picture yourself on a huge battlefield where mobs and npc's are battling each other and it's not your job to directly turn the tide, but maybe you need to just get from point A to point B.

Another big thing is interactive missions...missions where you make choices, and those choices have consquences. And not necessarily obvious ones (ie, if you save this guy's life, he'll help you later)...choices with unforseen consquences. Maybe there's a dam that you can take out which would wash out bridges and slow enemy approach and strengthen a base's chance of surviving an assault, only doing so will also leave the base completely isolated and unable to receive reinforcements...so the choice is between a short and potent battle vs. a longer but somewhat easier battle.

I do have some experience doing this type of stuff on games, so I know it's a real pain to impliment and balance, but in my experience it's usually worth the time and effort.

The script and voice acting could also use some work in the missions.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the PvE game, but I do think there is room for improvement.

Oh, and this is in addition to the obvious "more flashy weapons and armor".

Something along the lines of Fissure / UW not dependant on PvP outcome (working at night means I miss a good half of our Favor, and I feel bad for the Euro teams)

Somewhere to mindlessly farm for however long I want to mindlessly farm for. In all honesty, 99% of anything you can get from drops are straight vendor bait, including purples/golds/superiors, as anything weapon wise has to be better than collector items to be bothered with (i've seen 1 staff and 1 sword that fit that criteria, and I've thrown 2 characters through the game, 2 at LA, and farmed several places until my eyes started to bleed), and most upgrades on items arent worth the salvage kit to disasemble. That or the removal of the anti-farm measures for good, its kind of pointless as it happened way too late to bother the majority of people. All its doing is jacking up the prices of cool looking items, since top of the line weapons are as hard to find as water.

Challenging content... thats not challenging only because idiots / bad players play PvE. For as stupidly repetitive as FoW/UW are, they arent hard if you have a solid group that knows what they are doing. I would wager the hardest part of both is doing them enough times to collect hundreds of ecto and either shards or the $ to buy Vellum.

Content worth putting in the time to do. Once you beat all the missions, its FoW/UW runs or level a new character (and if its not 7-9pm - 4-5am, one of those is gone). I honestly fail to see the point of both. In other MMO's, I've always had characters with top of the line gear, max tradeskills/professions/whateveryoucallthem, max or near max alternate advancement, ect. I hate having to make and play new characters to enjoy playing the game, and thats where I am right now. Doing a billion fissure/under runs just to get my monk a really cool looking Robe ranks about as high on my to do list as jumping off a cliff.

Items worth getting. Gold is worthless after less than a week of playing, the vast majority of item drops are worthless, all but a small number of runes are worthless, all but a small number of upgrades are worthless (mainly due to the majority seeming to be +4 AL vs elemental, very bad energy/hp mods, or Xslaying instead of being halfway decent)., there are no dropped armors with differing stats/looks. Someone using forge armor + collectors items with random halfass upgrades is as effective as someone using Fissure armor, the absolute best mainhand/offhand, and top notch upgrades. While the rare items being better would cause a lot of problems with people who dont want to bother getting them, making the same is just discouraging repeated playing of the game.

I know Guild Wars is not my game, and I've accepted that from day 1. I honestly cannot tell what type of game its trying to be. Its PvP could use plenty of work, its PvE is badly, badly lacking, simply due to the nature of servers (no community due to everything being inctanced completely, low max on friends lists to keep in contact with people who dont suck, ect) and lack of replayability for anything other than unlocking everything through pve.

It needs work, in my eyes, on all fronts, but I am the epitome of "grumpy old bastard hardcore MMO player", so it could just be me

WOW, I'm impressed Weezer, really I am, no sarcasm, usually your posts are very one sided and it would seem, this was a step out of the box for you, I applaud you.

I do both PvE and PvP and the one thing I'd REALLY like to see and I think it could be fun for both "sides" of the gam, is to have not only more customization but different races and and body types. Humans are typical and blah, but throw in a dwarf, a Hill Giant or a Tenru maybe even a Ghost or undead something a bit outside the lines would be fun.

1: More bonus areas in Temple of Ages. one for each statue. currently we have 2 of 4. Underworld and Fissure of Woe.

2: Also I would like to see the Guild Hall to be upgradeable to be able to be used for PvE styls siutuations along with being a meeting place for Guild battles for PvP.
Meaning Interesting stuff int he guild hall to make it usefull for guild members that use it that are doing PvE.
Armory, Crafters, Traders, Treasury, Events, ect... I have suggestions for upgrades and how to use them (mostly suggested way back in betas actually) here.

and 3: Able to buy weapon upgrades from the weapons crafter on customized weapons to eliminate inflation issues on upgrades, as the rune trader did for rune inflation. This suggestion is explained further Here.

I would like to see quests or missions that can be accessed at any time by anyone that has completed the game which are extremely difficult to do, and give huge rewards.

I would like to see hidden areas, or far away areas which do not have an outpost near them, so you have to journey for hours to get to it....but it actually has stuff there that people would want to get to.

I would like to see seperate obsidian armors (as opposed to how all of a class' armors look the same from FoW) and Platemail included.

I would like more statistics about PvE stuff. Numbers, numbers, and more numbers. It doesn't have to be important or insightful, just a lot of statistics on useless shit.

I would like to see one 20-player-party mission which is extremely difficult and near impossible to beat. Something along the lines of Onyxia (or whatever the name is) from WoW where it takes like 60 people to beat her.

Above all, I would like a more sophisticated chat filter. Whatever it takes to get people to stop spamming trades in all chat.

I want to be able to travel to underworld or The fissure, and gather a group there. Then if your group dies you go back to the begginning again where you could work on skill bars, tactics, or join another group without having to pay another 1plat to enter. This would help the player that is not in a guild they know and trust to group with, and lessen somewhat the disadvantage of some random PUG's.

That would allow me access to all the PVE content.

I really just want ArenaNet to stop band-aiding every problem....stop catering to the voices of people on the forums...while listening to your users problems and concerns is a good way to get a grasp on what is wrong with the game or what people want to see...you only get one view...the view of the people that aren't happy. Immediately patching whatever they are unhappy with is only going to frustrated the numerous people that never had a problem to begin with.

Essentially...I want ArenaNet to start running their company instead of allowing the users to dictate what they should be doing.

though I do believe this would work best for both PvE and PvP....we have a large conglomerate of whiney children who have been shown that complaining will get them the changes they want. This shouldn't be the way a gaming company does business....you've built a product....not everyone is going to be 100% happy with every feature...but don't start band-aiding problems in a futile attempt to hush the naysayers.

  • Farming or some other other way to make cash.
  • Better item drops.
  • Removal of the gimping conditions: +3 to an attribute but -75 to health? +damage all the time but -10 armor? It makes what would be the cool stuff unwanted in most cases. Backward rune prices anyone?
  • The ability to place one elite skill from each profession on the skill bar at the same time.
  • The ability to use runes from my secondary profession.
  • Built-in VoIP.
  • A dye system based on the color wheel that everyone learns in grade school.
  • Some sort of auction house for the buying/selling of items.
  • Henchmen commands.
  • Improved Henchmen AI.
  • Henchmen with secondary professions.
  • Add an energy bar for each party member to the Party Window.
  • Add a toggle for system messages in chat.
  • The ability to truly solo. No henchmen, no other party members. Just me, myself and I.

I'm pretty excited about a company that pays attention to its customers and tries to accommodate them. I agree that this can go too far and that a great many people never voice their opinions on forums, but at least many of those who do have some assurance that their opinions, wish lists, etc. don't go ignored. On the other hand, fixing one tenant's plumbing can sometimes break another tenant's. That's a risk in all evolving games whose dev teams frequently tune and balance things. I personally think that Blizzard balances their games to death and their fans wind up with godawful messes. So far, Anet has brought more wisdom to their updates. They try to make the vocal fans happy, but they seem to have a good understanding of their responsibilities to the larger fan base as well. Even so, this is dangerous ground to tread.

Make Fissure / UW avaible after you beat the last mission in the game and not dependent on PvP.

More mission / quests (I know I have to wait for the expansion for a massive amount to be added)

More armor graphic varations for the diffrent armor levels (can have same graphic but make it more fany / impressive the higher the armor value).

More space for vault or option to upgrade vault to a lvl 2 with more space.

A "completed" quest log of what I've already done.

I think Weezer's hit on a pretty cool idea here. What if there was yet another expensive armor set, that was basically a color palette and a bunch of styles/designs/emblems/patterns a la cape creation? You'd only need one per profession, and you'd still be able to get tons of mileage out of it.

Algren Cole , I believe arenanet is going out of their way to make the game more interesting to people that have been playing it for a long time... both PvP and PvE. why? to keep them interested till the next chapter. as it is we have seen an large drop in people playing guildwars and moving on to newer games that just came out. And that's because most have finished the existing missions and bonuses and Quests... and now all that's left is the grind, and most people HATE that... Grind is the Bane of RPG existence. but keeping new things happening gets people to make new characters, or replay the game to see whats new. Chapter 2 is going to be Very nice, because it will be new to EVERYONE. and it is expected to have a Very very short beta period, so beta testers will only have played a portion of it...

As it is, the game is still not actually complete. Meaning Chapter 1 has not seen the last mission yet. so NO ONE has actually "Finished" the game as I constantly see people saying... its a RPG, it evolves and grows... the suggestion made in the fan forums are what the developers use to see what the FANS might have an interest in. There is no pleasing everyone, all the time though. so I guess we all just have to deal with people like you that would keep it as a stagnate pool of the same thing over and over and over forever.

Well, I don't think he wants a stagnant game. I wasn't getting that from his post. I think he has good reason to be apprehensive about too much fan accommodation. It can lead to problems if Anet doesn't have some kind of master plan that governs smaller changes.

I thought you wasn't going to post

1: I hope to see ALOT of items added. And I mean a WHOLE LOT. I've played Ragnorok online before and they are loaded with them.

2: I wish that you could custimize your charater more. Doing so would make you feel like you are him/her. I think that is part of the PvE expeirance.

3: More levels. I liked the max level 20 idea at first, but upon thinking about it, I remember enjoying the high levels in Ragnorok Online because there was always something mroe to obtain. Now I'm not asking for high high levels, but maybe bring it up to 40 or 50. But make it VERY hard to achieve.

4: I wish each person could have some kind of service or job he can do. Like perhaps be a merchant or crafter, or even a dye mixer. Doing so would make you feel like you are helping people out with your talents in specific areas.

UP the droprate... It is getting seriously aggravating to have every form of money making nerfed (I understand the reasons behind it), putting all the top quality weapons forever out of my financial reach (yeah, 250K for a max damage sword with decent mods...), and at the same time, there is just NOTHING dropping. My E/Mo has been using the same crappy loot since she was level 8.

I mean, if I DO find a purple drop, it has no mods, and yellow drops 9 out of 10 times now convert into a 25 gold rune. Woot!

I know the mantra being chanted is that "items are not important", but I have all the skills I want on my character, I am level 20, so what else is there to find? I like to have SOME form of character progression.
It's fun to FIND something decent, it's not fun to watch early abusers and their developer endorsed monopoly on gold sell all the quality loot to each other for 100K plus 7 sigils plus 700 black dye, while I have 20K in my bank account, which currently buys nothing. (well, a good binge of dwarven ale I guess )
I;ve had four characters, I've yet to find ONE single item that I'm using. Every thing I'm using now with my characters I bought before bots and farming wacked the economy, now there is no real chance of buying anything.
(well, anything decent anyways.)

The craptastic lack of good loot in this game is just pathetic. I get purple wands with no mods falling in the southern shiverpeaks from lvl 24 avicara. Somehow, the devs appear to be under the assumption that this means "no grind".
Well, I guess if there is NEVER a chance of anything dropping, that does mean no grind...
