All kidding aside, 12 hours in a year is absolutely AMAZING work.

Eastern is only 3 hours ahead of Pacific, I call my family back in Seattle all the time ... so it's 3am-7am for everyone on the east cost: midnight-4 pacific, 1am-5am mountain, and 2am-6am central.

The thing that I can't determine is, when they say 00:00 on the 30th, I think they're talking about tonight, since at the stroke of midnight (PST) it will be the 30th ... I suppose i'll find out tonight

I hate you, you suck. This thread sucks and should be locked ASAP. Mods should ban you and beat you with sticks. Also Anet should give me my money back.

No worries, dargon: I just didn't want some random person cursing your name when the server cuts out in the middle of his UW/Fissure run or something ... i'm not the correctness police

And Rayea: not my keyboard or my hamster, i'm a total neat-freak I simply did a google search for "Computer powered by hamsters" and that's what came up ... I was trying to get a picture of one running in a wheel *inside* a computer, but settled for the keyboard.

Heh. Kidding again. The times I posted are GMT which means they are always expressed in 24h format. That would be [a few seconds pass while he calculates with his brows creased] 8-12AM for those in Greenwich but since you don't seem to live there, most probably you will need to calculate the time for yourself, considering your time zone.

Edit: Checked your profile. It is 10AM-2PM for you.
/Pedantic hat on - Actually for those on the Greenwich Meridian it's 8-12PM not AM, 12AM is midnight.

Yes, tonight. As in about 4.5 hours from the time I am posting this note.

Tell ya what: I don't usually make this generous offer, but just for you: I will personally pay you back your monthly fee for March. Sound good?

I'll match you're pedantic and raise you two: There is, literally speaking, no 12:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. They are the top of the hour, the switch from day to night, and during that single minute only, on both swings, there is therefore only the practical and accurate term of 12:00 Midnight or 12:00 Noon. You can check me on this, but common usage does not accurate usage make.

So, who's your favorite storage hardware vendor? EMC? IBM Fast-T's? Network Appliance? What about storage array management? Veritas? Sun? Database: Oracle, UDB, SQL, Informix? Any E15k's onsite? Inquiring minds want to know! j/k, the less we know, the better

To be more precise it is 8am gmt to 12pm gmt.

And I, like a previous poster, get home from work at 12am pst. I usually relax with some good ole GW before catching some ZZZZzzzzs. Oh well, I can watch that movie with that big monkey in it that I bought on Tues.

Anet also gets props from me for all their server uppityness.

You know, the very first time I read this, I thought to myself "Wow that's really nice, but does she know what she's saying? Now everyone is going to be wanting that, it will be anarchy ..."

... then about 15 seconds later my brain started to work, and I got the joke. It's official: I was just owned by Gaile Gray. I feel like an idiot ... honored, but an idiot nonetheless

12 hours downtime in one year is brilliant, well done to Anet!

I liked the 'in order to prevent a catastrophic failure' line...meaning 'if this PC goes Pffft everything is dead?

Gaaa. No amount of Pedantisicistry will make me get that AM/PM thing. I better keep sticking to the military time and stop trying to convert time for other people. My brain just is not cut out for it.

What joke are you talking about? I just sent an inflammatory mail to her and demanded all my monthly payments back. She said she would be wiring the bucks to me shortly and I checked my balance and voila! There it was - not only for March but for all the months I have been playing. And you know what? She said she'd give me one extra character slot just for good measure and I logged on and one of my characters with FoW armor was gone and voila! An extra character slot that I can use to my heart's content!

Yeah ... it's on www.guildwars.com, it's been broadcast in the channel for the last, oh, 2 hours or so maybe, and it's on the login screen.

If it came as a surprise, I don't really know what to tell you
