Deleting a character you played for hours

I've deleted my ranger and ele, which had done everything in the game... Several hundred hours for each.
Ele was painful to play in pve, and ranger just didn't work out.. But I got lots of unlocks with them.
These days I have n/x, m/x and w/x. Each has all the primary skills, and several secondary profession skills. Oh and pvp-slot, which I used for factions char, and now released it to pvp, once more.

Deleted my necro lvl 20 with two 15k armour sets and tons of gold spent to her and all missions done to make space for one PvP slot. Made a fortune with her though and it was fun to play but eventually it got little boring and from group of Warrior, Monk, Elementalist & Necromancer that was the choice I made...
I've deleted a couple of characters here and there but ones that I finished the game with will forever live.
I get too attached and do not have the heart to delete them.
I always regret the name of my necro and would love the opportunity to rename him but there is no way that I will delete him and start from scratch.

I never really paid attention to the amount of time spent playing these but I have deleted a few. My 1st was E/mo that I played to somewhere between lvl 13-15 then deleted. Then I had a Mo/me that I played to lvl 16-17 and got rid of. As of Right now I have a N/mo that's lvl 12 and I'm thinking about deleting that one to go back to a Mo/me or E/mo. I have two accounts and 6 characters over those accounts so I have a pretty diverse group to play with anyway.
Why did I delete them?
1. E/Mo was on my brothers' account, so once I bought my own copy of the game he was gone. Still one of my favorite combos though.
2. Mo/Me - I actually really enjoyed playing this character as a smite + illusion/domination. I would go healer now and then but at the time it just wasn't fun for me to be the healer. Anytime I got in a group I was expected to heal and really just wanted to play as a damage dealer so by lvl 16-17 I had enough and deleted for a R/Me instead.
3. N/mo - ehh, it's ok I'm not to into it. I don't want to be a MM, it's not for me, just thought I tried the combo to see if I could do a blood/heal combo. It's ok, but I find myself making minions anyway and that's not what I'm interested in doing. So I may give the healing thing another shot with a monk. I've tried to brush up on some healing in PvP and I'm thinking it shouldn't be much more difficult now in PvE.

I have no emotional attachments to my avatars, but I keep them if possible to have options.
I just deleted & then remade 6 characters accross two accounts and before that i deleted a total
of 6 characters too! All fully ascended and completely completed the game for good measure!
Deleted them because i wanted a fresh start with all of them basicaly, i get to
gain all the wasted skill points i used all that time ago and get a fresh start on
all of my characters, new names for some, new armour/s, experience and so on!
Grand total of 2000+ hours atleast i can imagine, i fancied spending the new
found spare time i've recently come accross on playing guildwars and getting
my characters all the way through the game once again,
it's been the best
few weeks of playing guildwars to be honest.
The ammount of un'complete characters i've deleted is unimaginable to be
honest so i wont even get started on that, but you probably get the idea.
And even though i've spent all that time playing, i've still yet to find time to make
myself a mesmer! i've tried them all exept mesmer,
So coming soon i guess!...

I deleted my first character, a R/E. Played with that one for around 150 hours, used him as a trapper, interrupter, and beast master. Finished the storyline with him, even. But once I started playing my next 2 characters (W/X and Mo/R), playing him became rather ho-hum. I deleted him to make room for a Me/N so I could have a taste of every profession. I love playing my Mesmer, even though lately I haven't been playing her much.
Edit: The story of my ranger's untimely demise: One day late in the fall, while out questing with his pet bear Monte, they were fighting a particularly nasty group of critters. Since it was the time of year when hyperphasia (extreme hunger where bears will eat anything in sight getting ready for hibernation) set in on the bears, Monte's blood lust was & rage were at such a high point, that after they finished off the mob, he turned on his master and ate him. So if you'e wandering the southern Shiverpeaks, beware! For Monte is said to be wandering around endlessly seeking out victims to gratify his newfound taste for manflesh!

I have done that alot. I'm sure everyone has at one point or another. I went through the whole "trying out every character to see what their dance looks like" phase. But I also logged in about 20 hours into a Warrior/Monk, he had only gotten to lvl 13, then I decided I'd rather have an axe than a hammer, deleted him, and remade him into a Warrior/Ranger with an axe. Both of them were called Beorn Trollslayer
.
.Two months ago I deleted both of my level 20 characters, one of which had been with me since the start of the game, and both had completed everything, when we added a second computer and account to our household. One of us had to start over in order to play together, and since I actually enjoy redoing quests and missions, and the hubby doesn't, it was kind of a given that it would be me. It hurt, especially starting from scratch on XP again.
