Ecto at an all time low, and still dropping

I was planning to start a thread on this, good thing somone else did. Back in the day, i said "if ectos drop to 5.5k, i`ll buy a fow armor for my ele". Now, it would be the time, but I changed my mind.

Anyway, it's funny. All those ss/sv and 55 monks farming ectos when a warrior or ranger can easily solo farm shards.

IMO shard farming is a bigger money maker than ecto farming (considering the current prices). You can get 3-7 shards in one run (that should take no longer than 30-40 min). With the 50/50 system i doubt you get 2-3 ectos/farmer (making it 4-6 ectos in 1 run for the team).

Also chest are much more available in FoW than in UW.

The price of ectos might also be dropping because of ToPK. Say whatever you want, but it's another place where ectos drop. So even if it's not a good ecto source, it still increases the number of ectos in the economy. Also ToPK ectos are "cheaper" ectos than UW ones since you don't need to pay to go there.

The price is dropping are because most extreme gamers already got the FoW armors.
And most smart players release how suck the GW is compare with other games.
And most Adult players sick with play a game with 3 years old. (Due to no monthly fee)

Therefore prices are dropping, and it will keep dropping, even if you can ban all farmers.
And I have to tell you, most farmers are in U.S., Europe, Korean, Japan and Taiwan since GW is not officially released in the China yet. (Assuming Taiwan is not part of China)

In any games or products there is a market window, as newly develop game’s market window got shorter and shorter. Anet are stupid enough to release their lame faction, which content only few new skill, 10+ new weapons, 10+ new armors and most of them all with old concept of area, better little better and different graphic. And surprisingly that company survives till now.

In Conclusion:
The game has exceeded its market window, and it is dieing!
And stop bitching about the price, it really getting too old.

Did you pay attention to anything you just typed Fantomvz? GW is like 1 year old. It's still practically a new game.

By 10+, you can say I mean the set. But also look at the newly released armors.
Elementalist AR 60 + X HP
Ranger AR 70 + X HP
Warrior AR 80 + X HP
… And so on, I would only call them 1 new item, as they are duplicate items of the same ideal.

I have never said I don’t like GW, as it is the first and by far the best of its class.

“The release of Guild Wars in April 2005 represented NCsoft's investment in the possible profitability of an online RPG with a one-time fee. Guild Wars did not share many of the distinguishing features of typical MMORPGs such as an undivided gameworld (outside of cities, the game was played on a private copy of the gameworld), the lack of instant world travel, the subscription fee, the large time investment required to enjoy end-game content, and the largely server-dependent software architecture. As such, it was termed a Competitive/Cooperative Online Role-Playing Game (CORPG) by its developers. It is most often referred to as an OCG, or "Online Computer Game".”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mmorpg

Like the article said, the gaming concept and the design of GW is truly amazing. But that is in 2005. As successful Global releases of GW, many I mean MANY newly develop games has implement the similar concept of GW. With only a better job, for quick example a newly released Korean MMOPRG “SUN” or “Hulxey”.

Of course Hulxey is a MMO First Person Shooting Game with role-play, which allow 3000 players shoot at each other on the same map. Due to it’s not release yet, it is a bad example to compare with GW.

“Mournbalde”:
From first release of Black Screen TV it take 20 year for it to exceed its 1 million units.
Color TV: 12 years
PC: 6 Years
DVD: 6 Months!

As the new technology advance, a market window is become shorter and shorter for the edge product. This concept is also applied to newly develop games. Don’t know if any of you remember Diablo 1, or Diablo 2, from blizzard. How long till they release their expansion not with in a year right?

Anet themselves also release this, that is why they have continue update to their game. Now can you still says 1 year old game is still as fresh as baby? You may want to think again.

Also back on the Chinese golden farming Issue:

“On August 4, 2005, the Chinese government announced a ban on all "violent" gameplay for minors under 18. Chinese officials defined 'violent' as any game that involves player vs. player combat, a common feature among MMORPGs. Later in August the same year, the Chinese government imposed online gaming curbs so players will gain experience and items in game at a decreased and decreasing rate, until it hits zero after five hours of consecutive gameplay, after which the player must log off for five hours to get the full rate back.”

lol did you seriously site wikipedia for your arguments? Call me crazy but I think sites that can be edited by anyone are never reliable sources.

As far as the ecto prices dropping I think that just has to do with everyone planning for the new factions FoW armor equivalent. Or people who were planning on getting tatoos for their necro or monk, the two classes commonly used to farm ecto, may have gotten discouraged since with a recent update those armors now require shards also. As a result the could of just decided to get rid of their ectos as fast as they could.

Did you even read what I just post?
You can call other name all you want, if that makes you feel better.
But who are trying to convince yourself or me?

Without a value argument you just proved more that I am right.

GW is a game, each has its value, and so what is wrong of making money of something that has value.

Also as I said before, most farmers are from U.S. and Korean…etc, as result most ebay seller and buyer are from U.S. as well. Also remember whithout buyer, there will be no seller.

If they have an official reference with information that cannot freely be edited then link to that, the Wiki can be edited by ANYONE. Meaning I or anyone could edit it on a whim and put total BS in there. A source that can be edited by anyone is not a reliable source as it can be easily changed.

Also Fantomvz thought I do disagree with your first post in this thread, I dont care enough to debate it, but im sure others do. So If you have something you want to prove with sources then all I ask is that you use good/reliable sources.

Fact. The ranger armor I started with in Factions blows away, in my mind, FoW armor. As a result, I dumped my ectos on the trader. I don't want to be bothered trying to sell to someone for more of a profit, so why not the trader?

Ooh... good point.. I still have shards to dump. I wonder if I will see the price drop doing it?

You should check your dates on how old products are. I know that PCs have been around since 81 or maybe even earlier?
It doesnt even matter how old the game is, people still play Diablo and how old is that game? The age of the game doesnt really matter, it will always have a following. You were just saying how GuildWars was not released in China, so why bother telling us of this ban on their games? And it seems most of the farmbots are from Taiwan, but I believe its more common for the asians to use farmbots than Europe and America. They treat it as a business since they have no laws prohibiting it. Back to the ectos, I wouldn't be suprised if they dropped more before factions. Though they will probably stabalize when people have a better idea of what GW:Factions offers them.

Oh! I take it all back. You're a Chinese entrepreneur. Sorry for not making the distinction. Now that I go back and read your post I see a lot about market windows and value propositions, etc.

P.S. I still think you farm gold and sell it on eBay.

Can someone show a link of ANET saying "Fissure will still be the most sought after armor" and alink of ANET saying "Jade and Amber are the new Ecto/Shards"
Cuz formw ut i hear there is a new beetter elite armor, and also I hear you can get jade/amber in ch2 by turning in faction points, which makes paying for it useless.

Yes there always players to play a game, doesn’t matter how old it is.
I myself still play Diablo 2, but this does not mean the game is not exceeding its market window.

Well since I already got complain of my reference, I will let yourself to do some research what is meaning of “Market Window”.
But as tip here is a class slid from Portland State University.

Oh, you can. 1000 faction points gives you one of either the amber or jadeite, depending on your faction. Brilliant, isn't it? They've completely destroyed the bot market for the rare items needed for highly desireable armors. I suppose the potential will always remain for amber to drop... but trade faction for it and you're good. No gold required. No ebay.

Sweet.
