PVE World Championships?

Way back in Alpha there was an interview and Jeff Strain said the current top guilds would have their guild flags brandished in towns.. We sure as hell don't have that and that was AGES ago. And there was supposed to be a town crier and all that.
Supposevly in factions there is some kind of PvE ranking for Elite Missions (look under the faq). Im not sure if it's a PvP/PvE mix. Also I was hoping before the release of GW:P they would of had a PvE Gladitorial arena, where you fight increasingly harder waves of random mobs (to elimiate pre-mediation) To the point where it is almost impossible at very high levels, and rankings are kept by waves/challenges passed.. Something like that, no drops - just a score of some sort. Gives PvE'ers something else besides running and questing the same crap.

people with r12: a handful
pvp is definitely a bigger challenge, besides whens the last time youve seen green letters come across your screen saying:
_____________ has received a Glob of Ectoplasm in the Underworld and is one step closer to Fissure Armor!
Oh... and without active pvpers you couldnt go get your fissure armor kkthxbye
PvE
Player vs Environment
Guilds can do PvE, there are full PvE guilds out there.
What do PvP players care about?
Afaik: who wins, how he wins and the rewards you get from winning.
PvE:
I see that they care a lot about style. On one side you have the dark evil warlords and on the other side the holy paladins of the silver steel...
They care about money too. Items.
How do you turn that into a competition?
Fashion show!
Ok seriously. They also care about their builds and they try to make builds that fit the situation.
Do it like this:
Let them stay in their guild hall and make them protect their guild lord against a random mob of enemy monsters... Lets say... a weird breed of titans, liches and Gwens.
In a championship, several guilds could be fighting the same mobs in their own guildhall. Allow them to resurrect archers, footmen and bodyguards.
You could play stronghold O.o
You could even make them fight eachother.
Both teams get 30 titans... eh that would be PvP again...
My vote goes for: It's possible but tricky

Thanks Don Zardeone,at least you brought something to the table and not just a one sentence dismissal.
The unpredictability lies not in the AI but in the limited access to an area. A start time, stop time, and a common seed of mobs that each team will meet.
I do not understand how you could actually think that you would be able to farm this area. Example: You find out that Factions has an area like the UW that no one has been to. This area is available to any Ascended characters , but you can only be there for 1 hour. You get 1 chance at entering. You can have a party of 8 enter this area.
What will your party consist of and what will the builds be?
Just post what you can come up with? (If you can
)

)Honestly I don't see why people say PvE'ers need some sort of separate or unique way in which to be glorified or put in the spotlight. The idea of running through a gauntlet of enemies while being timed seems a little too much; especially considering how PvE'ers collect gold, rare items, dye, etc. and get to craft/collect unique armor that PvP'ers cannot get. Drops are your reward for being good at or just simply doing PvE.
I don't think that these are bad ideas since the game modes suggested are found in other games and can be rather fun; but considering all the 'perks' that PvE'ers already get more focus should be placed on broadening the PvP side of the game.

Honestly, I don't do a lot of PvP (as if you couldn't tell
).
They should broaden the PvP side - that I don't doubt. Some in my guild are into PvP and if they find enjoyment in that aspect of the game, then that is great!
But present ideas and options on what you would like to see and maybe how to implement you vision.
But, you have to admit - recognition and something visible to other players of your stature is something that all players would strive for. I like the trim the winners of the GWWC get on their capes.
That kind of idea.

hrmm...
-triple sb mo/me that has two sets of armor... since this IS pve; if it can tank successfully in this area then it stays 55, but if its facing a large amount of "blood necro" or shatters/e-denial that it cannot handle with the sb's, it will switch armor and become a semi-utility monk
-echo ss/sv nec since thats the rage these days
-w/rt that deals damage and can tank with some sexy ashes; in the case that the 55 idea falls through
-all purpose fire nuker =) (yes you can still use fire)
-2 monks: one boon prot; one woh/hp/infuse/seed or mebe healing hands in the place of
-Ranger for interrupts and neat little spirits (eoe perhaps for that special pve minion factory that anet installed) or broadhead arrows/practiced stance since we're talking bout factions
-Finally, the lovely and versatile mesmer.... just so avarre wont s h i t himself; shatter hex ftw, empathy ftw, cry of frustration (for that necro spike that anet also installed), shatter enchant, inspired hex.. you know the good stuff
-or switch out one of the characters for a ritualist; dunno dont have much experience with rt
-oh and as for the "factions"/"prophecies" only skills, lets assume that the character is carried over from prophecies
thats what i would do... but im just a noob who tries to play both pve and pvp =(
