Just wondering about who people think is the best all-round player at each profession. I'll give a bit of input, too.

Warrior: Bloodlight Eyes
Ranger: woonori
Monk: One Star
Elementalist: Kriegar (except when NPC's are around)
Mesmer: Tengu/Eun Jong
Necromancer: sheep

Yeah.

Whaattt??? No Vindexus for Warrior? Shame on you vanqy, shame! (no Vindexus is not my pick for Warrior, I'm not sure who I would pick for Warrior, but choosing Vindexus is unfair to the competition because he is god)

I personally liked Grandpamojo best as flagrunner ranger (at least I think it was him) and his mad side-stepping and projectile dodging skills. I don't think I've seen anyone else manage to side-step so many crippling shots while running past the enemy flagger like that.

I also like Soul Wedding on monk.

Also I agree with Kriegar for elementalist because Flare is an excellent skill.

Mesmer, not really sure, never seen much outstanding, usually just a lot of surging and burning ;o .

Necromancer I would pick whoever that was that Evil ran on their necromancer vs. iQ in Taiwan (that was Evil right, I've got a bad memory of matchups and I'm far to lazy to check my facts).

Ranger: Woonori, definately
Monk: Only One Star, although Seppo deserves an honorable mention IMO
Elementalist: Vanquisher The Monk
Mesmer: Haven't been watching much.
Necromancer: Haven't been watching much.

Mostly they are PvP.

This is a silly thread IMHO. "Best" players indeed, as if there is some metric for "Best Overall Player". The game is much too situational to break things down to that point.

Yup.

These lists are nothing more than popularity contests. There are plenty of people on lesser "known" guilds that are far better players than any of these listed. Teamplay wise (gvg) the top ranked guilds may play better as a team, that doesn't mean they have better individual players. And most players don't know squat about the metagame enough, or know about map tactics enough, to recognize "good" players, only ladder position. And ladder position for the most part is meaningless. I won't name names, but I know of one guild that blew into the top-50 by simply doing necro spike - and once they started running into good teams that carry one simple spell (cry of frustration anyone?) they got creamed repeatedly and fell apart.

They think of themselves as "good" players - yet they simply mastered following a countdown spike. Mashing a couple of spells, and mass heal parties isn't "skill". They exploited a particular damage spike and that's all.

So either this thread is a shameless effort to smooch some butt, or promote friends. I'm not going to do either.

There is no real best because 1v1 does not demonstrate true skil, just your luck in putting the skills on your bar, and being in a good guild doesn't make them the best player or anything, its teamwork that makes them and everyone else look good. I'd say a good way to test (at least for monk) how good someone is, is see how well they hold up under pressure while keeping their team alive.

well, I've watched alot of matches and I don't have my favorite persons. imo there aren't really "best players", because GuildWars is and hopefully will stay a teambased game

But don't post things to look down at people.
And BTW, if it's so easy to get to top 16 guild, what rank is your guild?

GvG != soloing, unless you seem to confuse going off and fighting 1v1 during a gvg match "soloing". And that's a silly measure of skill. Wow, they can use a healing signet? Impressive.

Don't care what armor you think is "better". Not really your place to try and lecture me, is it? I also could care less what my guild's rank is, just as much as I could care less what yours is either. I also don't care what you think of me, or the guild I belong to.

Regardless...

Getting into top 50 is simple, if a team wants to be lame. You know it, I know it. No different than players that are r9 earned via IWAY - you telling me they are a top player? Give me a friggin break. Rank is just as meaningless as ladder position, if you want to exploit portions of the game. If you don't know that, then you're either ignorant or delusional.

If you're thinking that somehow I'm supposed to bow down to you simply because you belong to a certain guild - you're looking at the wrong person to do so. I'm not some 13 year old fanboi. Your opinion carries no more weight than mine. And you're even more delusional if you think that the guild you're in suddenly qualifies you as somehow a better player with a better opinion than everyone else.

Puh-lease.
