I'm sorry but this does not look like the Assassin we are getting
Ira Blinks
we can agree on "female assasins should look sexier"
.neuronster.
I don't know. Are real assassins really that sexy anyway? :P
Then again, I guess some are.
I know the male assassins should have better armor...

who cares... they are in game to toy with, not to kill real people...

I think really what we all need is adjustable body types in the character creation screen, then all our problems would be washed away, like in that neurofen advert
.neuronster.
Yeah! That would be awesome! Like in the Sims. >.>

The problem with having a Sims-style character creation system is the massive amount of resources it would take.
Right now, there's what, a few hundred different face, hair, combos, etc? If each one was potentially unique the storage space required balloons.

Sounds like a lot of storage requirements right?
Wrong.
They can use freaking 5 bits to represent your face, another 5 bits for the skin colour, etc.. your entire character right now can be expressed in little more than the storage requirements of an integer (4 bytes)
Suddenly makes your argument moot doesn't it?

well, yes the assassin is a bit too skinny, but that doesn't mean they have to get larger boobs or anything, anyway assassins and ninjas and all those were skinny, small and tiny creatures, they had a very low weight and could move fast and silent, they could jump high and all that stuff, so i think anet is just trying to be a bit realistic and have some differences in the game...

comparatively to ^(above image posted)her proportions.it is just right. she is still more curvy than the current fem. assassin playable charac.
like many have suggested. "abit more meat would do" on the current one. (ie. Nika in the Cine would be perfect) (and of course no need for the extreme DOA style body models.) xD.
/g'day.

Simply put: to make her look cuter.
If memory serves her personality was meant to be more coy and teasing, almost child-like and having a pair of bouching DDs doesn't seem to mix well with that kind of character...I donno.
Just my two cents.

The characters in Guild Wars use a very long head to body ratio. Their heads are just too small to match the length of their bodies. The perfect example of this are the character's necks. Its just way way way too long. Same with the torso and the stomach. This elongation makes the assasin look even skinnier.
more on etna:
Etna
Age: 1470
Class: Demon (Vassal)
Recommended Weapon: Spear or Axe
Etna is one of the few who remain in the Overlord's Castle after King Krichevskoy's death. In the beginning, she attempted to wake up Laharl...using various means to do so. From then on, Etna became Laharl's closest vassal (though isn't always very trustworthy), aiding him in his rise to power.
Etna acts carefree, but is also very devious. Often times, it's hard to tell who she really is working for. She also has deep respect and loyalty towards King Krichevskoy. Etna is often known for ending an episode with an odd preview to the next episode, which is often times a parody of TV shows.

I've seen worse choices for assassin looks. The assassins are fine as they are!

Actually, I suggest none of you get near that topic.
1. That a completely off-topic subject from this thread.
2. This is a GW forum, not anime.
3. It has the potential for serious flamebait.
Each one of them a reason to close this thread.

I hope that pic's not out of line. Anyways. I made this little thing to illustrate how Guild Wars' existing female characters use a distorted, elongated proportion.
Its not a very accurate image, but you can see how elongated the torso section and legs of the guild wars characters are, even with differing body types.
This longer proportion makes the skinny assassin look even more skinny.
Ira Blinks
ummm i dont see anything very different... what exactly the issue again?
Edit: actually I see warrior having much longer legs, but thats it.

nice comparison!
i remember reading that the length of anime chicks' bodies were roughly seven heads, as a guideline to sketchin em.
Ive never realized that the female warr's figure was that out of proportion - vertically moreso than the assassin!

The average adult human figure is about 7 to 7.5 heads tall.
The idealized human figure is traditionally represented as being 8 heads tall.
Whats interesting is the skinny assasin actually falls within the average human proportion of 7.5 heads tall, while the warrior is 8.5

actually now that it has been brought up I am more concerned about back problems of GW females. They all look like their breasts are too heavy for them and they bend back too much because of it... Bent neck and horisontal position of the upper chest (above boobs) dont add to the healthy look either...
nStrife
lol the same could be said for male warriors =S
Rex the Unloving
well male monks are stumpy
bulletsmile
well a human body should cover the lenght of 8 human heads, as you can see the warrior does, but you must not forget that when you are comparing body lenght you must cut away the hair, shoes etc....
anyway they could have some kind of a body size menu, when creating your char you could choose more detailed how your char's bocy is, like a tiny little warrior or a large bulky one

I would like the option to modify age as well. I want an old shriveled up skinny warrior that is app. 4 heads tall and weilds a double headed hammer.

Suddenly makes your argument moot doesn't it? It wasn't really an argument (I wasn't trying to prove anything), but...
There are now (approximately - for the sake of argument I just made these numbers up) 16 faces, 16 hairstyles, 8 hair colours and 8 skin tones. Not really, but bear with me. Storing each piece of data as a two-bit string, that's an eight-digit number to express each character. One byte.
With a dynamic creation system, a la Sims, you end up with thousands of possibilities for the models. The resulting number would be greater than our present number of possibilities, no? So you'd end up with longer strings to store, leaving the required storage space much greater.
Much greater doesn't mean big, though. I never said it took lots of space - at least, I hadn't thought I had. My mind was drifting. . I just said it would take more space.

I know I'm a little late, but... ETNA!! <3
(iirc, she was pretty good with a gun as well... possibly not as much as a spear, though)
Gabe's 'Sin is way skinnier than the one we're arguing about... but I think they both look great!

I'm not sure that's true. Everquest 2 uses a system where you use sliders to change facial/body metrics, and GW could do the same. The character creation was the one thing EQ2 does better than GW, IMO.

seriously, it's not NCsoft designing characters. I think the "blame" (if there is someone to blame), comes from the whole male-dominated fantasy genre. From the enticing "babes in chainmail" pics on Dragon magazine, to Dark Elves in Warhammer - sex sells!
