Open the catacombs again!

Here was my idea from the guild-hall forums to reopen the Catacombs,it was planned to be a quest.
Ok,the Catacombs in Pre-Searing were huge and really in my opinion awesome. So here's a quest idea to reopen the old Catacombs.
You get the quest by speaking to Sir Tydus and here's a description:
We've decided to reopen the old Catacombs to open a safe haven for our people, that is,safer than Ascalon City. We have powerful Elementalists ready to go to the entrances of the Catacombs, but they need an escort of powerful warriors. Though we will also need you to clear out the monsters there to make it safe for our people. Hopefully this will allow Ascalon to that which it was before the Searing.
(It is not required that you be a warrior to do this quest, also my idea of reopening the Catacombs? Get the Elementalists to blow the debris that covers the entrances up to open them back up!)
______________________________ _
The reward could say 250 xp since it's an Ascalon quest. Heh,I'm thinking of a large underground town in Ascalon. I came up with this while playing as my new Warrior in Pre-Searing exploring the glamour of the Catacombs and just thought,Why not reopen them to those who may have never gone there?!

I think it'd be really cool if when the searing came people started flooding into the catacombs for protection, and now they've started up cities and such.

like 25% of the map already has nothing that is filled in so this would be a good chance to fill in some of that space. (in beetween piken and sardelac where the wall is)..also it will keep low levels out of the power leveling system

The view when you do the quest to find the bird of a guy is so awesome ql.

The Catacombs were/are just to good to let go to waste. Plus I always loved exploring them and finding all the wall paintings and other depictions of the gods.

In WoW there are several dungeons that take HUGE teams , almost whole guilds, to clear them out. would like to see maybe one or two of these type places in Tyria, Cantha, or Elona, dont really care, but this might just grant that wish.
It would seriously RULE if you guys made it so that the whole thing was a huge spiral that you reach by doing the "protect the miners/clearers" type quest, which is at the end of the first level, which would have the "normal catacombs", then a harder level(14-18 monsters), and one harder(16-20 monsters), .. You would go further down and down, until you reach a flat area with a huge Dolyak boss, who, after defeating, dies to reveal a portal it was guarding, which you enter, and find some stone summit that have fled after a huge rebellion in sorrows furnace, and are now hiding, but cannot venture further since there are escaped titans/oberan come back/evil gwen who is keeping them there, and need you as temp allies. This outpost would be map-toable, with level 20 stone summit henchies.. Maybe in order to progress beyond this point you have an 8 party limit, and you exit the other side of the outpost on some quest to destroy the titan keeping them there, which would be at the end of this maze of lava and ash that you have to navigate while destroying tons of Random spawn monsters and bosses, none below lvl 20, and max level of 28 until you reach the end to find that titans have found some artifact of the Lich guarded by the remnant of mursaat, which allows them to make forts and with muursaat help, more powerful ether seals... After you defeat several muursaat the boss shows up, and disables the seals youve been fighting next to to show his contempt for humans...hed be like a God/Titan, lvl 38-40 or something, with a ton of fire and death magic spells on crack. At this point there is a cutscene, which brings stone summit allies to your aid who have been clearing surrounding tunnels, and will help defeat this destroyer for one last chance to find peace somewhere.
IF you manage to defeat this titan(my name for him is Antidron the Destroyer), he will drop a SUPER rare green staff with a really cool skin called, go figure, the Destroyer. It would half cast time and recharge of BOTH fire mag and death mag spells, with e + 20, but would have -50 hp and -2 e regen. At this point, since you have prevailed, there is another cutscene that shows you rezzing all your allies, but at the same time the stone summit suddenly become enemies to you, since they realize their home is now safe, and chase you into the next outpost, which is COMPLETELY empty except for the normal henchies, who in a quest to take you to the first outpost told you they would meet you later. This zone would only be accessible by speaking to the "stone summit ally" npc in the first outpost.
After this zone all that would be there would be several tombs-like levels full of lvl 24+ fire monsters and demons of the worst sort, but scattered with random other things that are familiar, such as the occasional stone summit work crew with a drudge slave group. After making your way through this maze resembling hell, you enter the FINAL outpost, which can also be accessed through the "ally" npc( you have to have beaten to each outpost to get there using the npc)- here is where there are normal henchies again.
From this point onward, there could be something relating to what REALLY caused the gods to abandon Tyria, and the rest of the worl, which would be some outrageously hard boss that you could assemble a group of 20 or something to fight, and possibly kill.
I got a kick out of writing this, and really hope some semblance of it is considered, but i realize im not the only GW player and my idea probably wont be too popular lol.

although...going through a bunch of dark dwarves to get to a portal that gets you into an instance with fire critters and giants...
that sounds kinda familiar...
maybe the final boss could drop daggers for assassins and they could call them, "perdition blades"
to some extent that would be cool. i think sf burned anet out on free updates of that magnetude. They are planning on adding more content every 6 months in expansions though and it appears they want to add new types of content each time (3 cheers for alliance battles and the moving territory idea). maybe they'll add stuff like that later.
i think one of the things i like about gw is that there aren't any instances that require 40-man raids though i'm excited to see what they'll add in the next expansions.

Seems like an excellent idea. Maybe if there were like 2-4 bosses at the end and they drop random green items out of like 12-20.

maybe the "charr in the catacombs" quest could be involved, where you actually fight the charr that was there, and he's level 24 - 31

With the attak of the charr, the catacombs rumbled and fell apart, the main entrance was blocked forever, but another opened somewhere else...
The layered catacombs sounds somehow like the tomb of primeval kings.
I think that should be a good way to add a repeteable elite mission to prophecies.
Once you deal with the Titans, you come to know that there is one more...
And you put a horde of undead, demons and abaddon titans down there.
Sharpen your steel! REady your spells! It's time now to look for the entrance!

If GW:EN does not feature the re-opening of the catacombs it is still something that should definitely happen.
I would also like to see Skullreaver (that boss at the end) drop the sephis axe he's always wielding, naming the axe wouldn't be hard either... hmmm.... I wonder... The Skullreaver anyone?
anyway, put some slightly higher level spiders in there, maybe include a tameable cave spider or devourer (default level 5). I would also like to see the addition of coffins that are "pillage-able" like chests. They would require no keys and have decent loot (recharged once a month like the elonian ones) but you don't know what else will pop out (some higher level undead, woohoo).
And y'all remember the prized moa bird quest? Well, let's say for a minute that Oberan got a little giddy down there and tried to animate the moa... ATTACK OF THE ZOMBIE MOA BIRD! hey, it could happen...
And all those restless spirits could still be there doing.... something..... and serving.... yeah, ok.... they would serve no purpose whatsoever, but it would still be cool.

ok, i am going to suggest some things from nightfall for this.
1) on the refuge outposts, make it kind of like the sanctuary quests... clear out the bugs.. all that
at the end of each stage there would be a room full of spiders and undead. you must clear the room and make it safe to rest in. these would be one time only room-clearings (unless someone in your party hadn't cleared the room yet)
2) a map for the refuge rooms
kinda like the torment area.. just a scroll like thing with outposts possibly named "stage one refuge area" ...nothing fancy

The catacombs is one of the few areas that are actually beautiful. So much of the landscape is boring and drab, but the catacombs is simply a pleasure to explore. Definitely an area that needs to be reused!
