Maybe Troll farming out of droks might be getting better drops

i was pl-ing somon when i found TWO (2) black dyes in a single run
I guess I was very lukcky!

No, Bloody Death, Ruins or Surmia is clearly the most elite farming place there is for black dyes. You are amazing to accomplish such a feat.

Trolls. I didn't go outside of Droknar's for 2 months, come back to power level a friend. Bam, 2 gold items. Sure, one of them came off Avicara, but it's all pretty magical to me.

I think it probably had something to do with having another person in your party, but pretty lucky however. I usually just get garbage from trolls, sometimes a silver dye or a shiverpeak key if I'm lucky.

I was thinking about it, since most of the bots have already been taken care of, why not improve the drops outside of droks?
I've read somewhere that personal farmers are not a problem for Anet, so why not?

I got my first black dye yesterday in a troll farm run. Woohoo! And in about 10 runs I got about 6 keys. Too bad the chests didn't spawn. Damnit.

The only black dye I've ever had came in pre-searing on the back side of the mountain. I've gotten gold drops and superior runes, but only one black dye. I'm always amazed at folks who get multiples.

i often solo farm trolls with my w/mo using the griffon build (btw it still works if u know how to use it)
i usually get a shiverpeak key every run and a gold every 4 runs.
each troll run consumes no more than 3 mins of my time.

recently my friend and I power leveled my monk in this area(best area to level up imo). my buddy would get the usual array of crap, as where I would keys! lots and lots of keys! recieved 9 keys in one night. 5 in one run alone. 2 of those keys gave me very good gold items from a chest( 1 in 10billion chance). so I agree with Matsumi, I think its because of the other player being in the area with you.

I like farming trolls, so to sum it up:

Moderate chance of rares from trolls, usually shields/staves. However due to the quantity farmed antifarming code is hit really fast, so this goes unnoticed usually.

They drop a lot of black (and other) dyes. I've gotten something like 10 from them, out of 13 throughout GW. Plenty of keys too.

Chest drops are primarily purple, gotten some nice 15^50 stuff but better to sell the keys.

Avicara on the way also drop rare armors fairly often, and aren't bad to farm.

farmed wood quite much with my wa in troll cave, no black dye drops...
pre ordered old gw and i got under 10 black dyes for my career...
maybe stars just dont shine on me

When it comes to salvaging runes of armor you find from enemies you will always get the rune as long as you use a superior or expert salvage kit. Runes that you use on your armor is something different (although it shouldn't be). You have a chance of just getting the basic salvage item or the rare salvage item.

I have played total 1300 hours across my two accounts, only 1 black dye dropped for me, it was from an underworld smite run long time ago.

Troll runs felt nerfed long ago, I think those guys were right when they say if you're going to do anything but oro farming you should deffinitly go avicara.

Mostly pure luck. I had a dye dropping spree at various places in post-Ascalon before....and pre. Now that I think about it, most dyes that drop for me are in Ascalon.

The drops aren't that bad. 800g-1.2K a run, that's the result of a good run. Plus occasional purple and gold drops, along with dyes and keys, it's not that bad. My favorite part about that area is that the XP is awesome. While using a Hunter's scroll, you can get about 6,000 xp per run.

I think drops are much better when going non-solo. In a powerleveling session I have like 3 golds coming down in 10 runs whereas countless solo runs yielded basically wood and iron.

i got a black dye on pretty much all my characters in pre searing because your character is new and hasnt killed anything and hasnt had a chance for an anti farm code at all, therefor your drop rate increases. As for golds, i got about 8 gold 9 purple drops in the past 2 nights. The best thing to do when drops decrease is farm minatours at Elonas.

I farm trolls purely for the XP that comes from it. Items & Money drops are propably most nerfed in the game but maybe every 50 run one golden pops up ^_^

i think u guys may be farming the wrong trolls i farm 2 different groups of trolls takes 5 mins or so getting to each group but drops are alot better and on way i farm chests to if ev1 farms the same places of course the drops are gonna be crap those trolls are farmed 1000s of times a day missons are usually better for drops also

Troll farming isn't that bad, I found 2 gold shields today. I've found a few black dyes, a bunch of silver dyes, and a lot of keys as well.

If you're going to get a new account, then trolls are a good spot to stock up on potential weapon mods to unlock. They drop staffs, swords, axes, hammers, and bows. Just no armor, but thats what ettin farming is for.

I've completed the game with 4 different characters, and I've only ever gotten 1 black dye.

Well - if there is one thing I haven't had a shortage of dropping it's dyes. I stash them all on my mule. I have never purchased any balck dye, and have found I think 7 so far - I've been playing since January. Maybe that makes up for me only having ever found 1 ecto??
