I use collectors staves -- 20% reduction in recharge and casting time for illusion and domination. Both staves have dual +5 armor mods (total of +10) armor. I use 15K Enchanters -- depending on how the new Cantha armors look I may get one of those or I will get FoW shortly.

I have still not tried to do a 55hp build, but may soon... I have built up 33 extra skill points. I spread the old ones out on Ranger and Ele skills -- I was a Me/N coming up.

Well for PvE:Illusion:Vokur's Staff (20/20 Illusion, +5 energy, +7 physical defense) Currently commiting Titan Genocide in search of either the funds for 20/20 rock or a new Illusion staff Icy Dragon Sword Buckler (damage -2 while in stance) Domination:
Cane: +5^50, 10% recharge on spells. Cane: +5 (enchanted), 10% recharge on spells. Offhand: Sadly none... so those canes are just sitting there

Let's say I'm looking at a staff that has 8 - 14 (domination 6 required)

With less than 6 Dom it did 8 - 14 in pre sear, with dom 6 or better it did as much as 18. I was playing around with no spells to see if I could determine what the Req ment. After 1 week, Me is a pretty tough class for a first char. Lot's of good help here, thanks for the posts.

It seems like a lot of people use Enchanter's armor. I'm fairly surprised I don't see more with Rogue's, at least for the chest/legs. On a priority target like a mesmer, isn't the extra protection going to be more valuable than a little extra energy, especially with all the e-management tools mesmers have access to? Are these just PvE outfits, or do you wear Enchanter's in PvP also? Do you guys have some other way of compensating for the lower armor?

In PvP it is common to use a mix and match of rogues and enchanters. I personally base my armour on what the battle will be, since I spent all my money on skills :P I never got FoW armour so I simply rotate 3 different 15ks, if I expect alot of Melee attacks or physical damage I will usually weak rogues in specific amounts based on energy needs, though more often than not, unless I am farming aton of physical damage rarely occurs.

Usually I also run Distortion or some sort of self defense, so rogues drops out even more then.

As of now, a full chant set, with only gloves noble, and distortion is about all you need. But with Factions, I know I will be using the stance armor for my chest and maybe the + health armor for my legs, leaving me only chanter boots (or maybe boots and legs), and noble gloves.

I could have sworn that the issue of certain armors global affects were going to be adressed and fixed. If this were the case the gloves would be useless.

To be absolutely honest with you, and I know I am shifting off topic here, the gloves are useless anyway. It's just that the nrg bonus is so small, I don't mind opting for a minor chance to increase armor while I'm casting spells (which with fast cast, isn't really a long time doh).

I think it really depends on what I'm in the mood for... Seeing as all mesmer green items were pretty cheap when I bought them (I was lucky and happened to have the 20/20 rockmolder before it was nerfed) I think it should change depending on what build you use. I always try to bring multiple weapons along depending on the situation, Korvald's Cane & Chakram while above 50% health, Willcrusher when fighting dazing opponents, Gorrel's Cane for that extra life if I'm getting pounded on and barely getting away, and Illyana's Staff is a nice one to bring along when multi-classing, and finally 20/20 rockmolder with a Sword with usually barbed and 20% enchanting for IW and a pet. Anyway, I think you should work towards getting every weapon, or at least the cheapest ones, as I bought most of mine for around 1-2k each at the Deldrimor War Camp, I'm sure you'll be able to get a few aswell. It's just as important as having all the skills you can get unlocked, because it lets you have the power to do what you want.

I still don't understand why they gave the fast casting class +AL while casting and the class with the longest cast spells in the game the shitty +AL vs specific element.

I mean if your playing as an interrupter what are the chances your actually gonna get hit in that 1/6th of a second you spend casting...

Well, manymesmer spells have 1, 2, or even 3 sec cast times. Even when you figure fast cast in, I think it's still worth a chance to get +15 AL during that time, especially when the bonus is global and non-specific. The difference between Noble and Enchanter gloves/boots is only 1e.

Do I count as senior???
I've got a stack of weapons both gold and green which I swap in and out as the occassion dictates. Depending on what I'm doing I've also got armour that serves the same function.

When I run full interrupt, or interrupt/shatter I usually go with full enchanter's and korvald's cane + focus set. Sometimes I swap my focus out for extra recharge.
When I run with illusion I've been using Vokur's Staff with Rogue's armour (or a mix of rogue's and enchanter's), but I also swap with Vokur's cane and the Rockmolder.
Blackout builds I normally run with a mix of all types of armour, and often the willcrusher.

Weapons and armour though are easily changable, especially since mesmers have such brilliant energy management.
