A Simple End to Botting

What we have here is two (or more) sides disagreeing. Over and over and over and over ............... thread after thread after thread.
Waste of time and effort. I'm going to do some more solo farming.

Shut up... seriously. Your idea sucks. Might as well get rid of minor and major runes.

NC-Soft don't want to get ride of the bot's, as long as bot's are used they can ban account's and sell new games to the ppl they have band.
If bot's are nerfed we have to pay a monthly fee.

The only way to stop the "bots" is to stop supporting them. If you can have a genuine influence on people to strongly discourage the purchasing of gold on ebay, then the problem will eventually dwindle to a very small problem. Of course using conventional, legal methods makes it very difficult to spread this type of discouragement.
That being said I propose a solution. I declare that beginning this year, we shall establish a new month-long celebration known as the Guild Wars Mr. T Mayhem Beatdown. For 30 days, all those oppossed to the illegal purchase of in-game items for real-world cash shall join forces with Mr. T to spread an unavoidable message of pain across the entire globe that shouts, "Don't buy GW Gold, sucka!"
Here's how it works. Starting May 1st, Mr. T and I will meet up at his super secret satellite, which constanly orbits the earth in search of T-rouble, and prepare ourselves for a rigorous 30-day session of domination. Once we have aligned our spirits with the power of T, we will humbly descend to the planet and visit key strategic points all over the landmass. From these key points, mainly major national capitals and undercover hotdog stands, we will join forces with our allies, also known as "the youth", and proceed to fan out in all directions to spread the Gospel of T to all we come across.
With brass knuckles at hand, and ridiculous bling at neck, the "youth" shall systematically pound any and all persons they come across; all the while declaring as one the reason for their punishment, "Don't buy GW Gold, sucka!" sparing no one, no matter what their age or body mass, from the longlasting bruises of justice. By advancing in this manner, decimating the guilty and innocent (also known as the "potentially guilty") alike, we will assure that even if those punished do not completely understand the reasoning behind the massacre, they will completely understand what will happen to them if they continue to totally screw up.
Other than this, I can't think of a better way to solve the ebay problem than the investagations that Anet is already carrying out. All we can really do is to do our best not associate with those who seem to have connections with the large-scale farming operations, and discourage their sale of items at ridiculously high prices, while choosing not to use their prices as an excuse to overprice the items that you sell.

ahaha, I like the Mr. T approach. I'm down for it. I might also just say that randomly when I visit a town or something. lol

Is there a bot program for solo farming the FoW Spiders or Forest?
Most likely, no. Why? Is it really possible to make a bot run to the farming area without dieing to patrols? Getting past the Skeleton groups using a ranger would be almost completely impossible for a bot program. A couple of patrols of Ancient Skales and your bots are stuffed too.
Don't really know if that would affect anything, but the fact is the harder it is to reach the farming area, the less people will farm it using Bots.

The way to stop a bot is to come up with something that only a human can deal with and will kill most macro program. Most botting programs are either free or cheapish and i dont think they can handle things...as mentioned before things that involve randomness.
The FoW Spider run is hard enough for a human being, having to deal with random aggro and some touch and go running. I doubt theres bots that can run the Forgerun for the same reason.
So before you can get to the goods...you gotta get through the mobs.
Elona is VERY predictable, as was the Prophet's path run, same with the troll cave.
SO what about the human running the bot? well then he has to waste his time on one spot. Making less money.

I don't transfer any funds to anybody in game, it all goes to my storage for later use. Once I do have a use for it, I don't buy really expensive weapons from other players or give it to other players period, it's for my own uses. So, if what I'm doing is driving up the prices on anything, it sure isn't the raven staves or troll tusks I get for example, so what is it really doing? Besides being given to the merchants and traders that are NPC's for exchange of goods or armor.

Well more nerfing. HA HA HA HA.

Yes, but not the BOT'S as you all can see they nerf the farming that takes live players to do, not the bot farming. So the nerfs really bite you in the ass don't they Hunter? It's time for a Hunter Nerf on Guru. HA HA HA

Guess what Hunter.. I just did about 5 runs in my usual spots and the drops are just as good (if not better) as they were before the update, so HA HA HA HA!
So what you really should be worried about is your little bot friends who sell gold to you like a service, because Mr. T and Anet are comin for them and you, and it won't be pretty. HA HA HA HA! Don't buy GW gold sucka! HA HA HA HA, because it doesn't just magically appear out of nowhere. Next time you do it Mr. T will come out and throw a grenade at you when you're using Barrage, and your pet will be destroyed too, 15k armor damaged... and you actually broke your own rules by *gasp* farming for that? Riiiight

And to everyone else, yes, the Ettins were nerfed yesterday during and in between updates. However, with the "official" Factions release update it appears they still drop gold armors, though it seems at a reduced rate from what they used to. There was a specific chronological order of events, and if you don't read the entire thread it will not make any sense. Hence the reason some of you are saying, "ZOMG they aren't nerfed, stop crying...". |
Also I just came back from doing some runs with my ranger. In one hour, not one gold just a couple purple. This is the third time I have done an hour of ettin runs and each one is the same.
Doing it so that my arguments are proven. Something yours lack. Maybe you should've read the post directly above yours, it would have saved yourself from putting your foot in your mouth.
Oh and Please quote me on anything I said that I buy from ebay.
Also I see you said "usual spot". I'm talking about the ettins not anywhere else. Anet did say they were gonna increase the chances of getting rare drops through out the game. Yes they nerfed the ettins, get over it and move on. Yes they did increase the drop rate of rare items throughout the game but guess what that means. They loose their rarety and their value.
When I took my ranger through the game doing every mission and quest in sequence following the story line I got crap for rare weapons and off hand but got my fair share of rare armor. Now that rare armor will always be superior runes and they increased the drop rate of superior vigor and absorbtion that means those that actually play the game will actually be rewarded. This means a loss in buiseness for the bot, sweatshop and all other repetitive farmers that owe their fortune to exploiting the lack of inteligence in the AI and predictability of the enemy.
Keep up the good work Anet. As for the vetern farmers, hurry up and find new places to exploit so anet can fix them too.

Plenty of reasons why removing the 55 would not actually stop the bots
Just because there 55hp monk does not mean if it was removed you would have more monks to play with in a zone (they go to non-55 farm builds)
Anet can stop 55 if it wanted to by just tweaking AI of monsters in zone or adding spells as stated above.
Monks "healers" that are for UW parties that turn in to farmer's should be reported to anet for scammers (with screenshot), they do take this seriously.
Anet has stated (interview) the game would not be fun if they took away the "virutal" economy (aka fixed pricing from traders / remove trade option) and part of the many ways to play the game is a wealth player.
Anet appears to be actively making prices cheaper by doing the increase supply across the board to deflate prices across the board with factions and drop rates, etc.

I think many agreed that method would be too tedious.

Plus it would do nothing to the sweatshop farmers that pretty much run like bots. Or you'll have a person watching over two or three computers running bots and would do the input when each bot reached that stage in the run.
