As usual on a Wednesday morning I went out to do a little ettin farming. First thing I noticed is that the ettins were in groups of two, not three as they used to be. Second thing I noticed is more tengu wild (enchantment strippers). Third thing ..... after the usual time that it takes me to fill my backpack with pauldrons ....... not one rune!
With the news of the "book trick" being nerfed, is this an end to farming? Will I have to con newbs to make gold now? j/k

Just went out myself, the spawns are pretty random. I've been seeing wilds appearing on and off for the last month.

Been a while since I farmed, so I don't think it was the anti-farming thing kicking in. Meh ..... I'll try it again.

I went ettin farming yesterday, and got the same exact results in 2 runs that I was getting since my last run (a week ago) and all the ones before it ... packs of 3 ettins, and 2 packs of 2 Caromi (one scout, one wild) and NO runes of any color... I've gotten maybe 2 gold runes ever from there.

Ettins are just like before. For quite a while additional Tengu Wild (or a single Fire Imp for the matter) spawn in some locations but they aren't really a threat. And there are usually ettins in groups of 2 or 3 (and one reliable group of 4x2 from the Last Hog Quest). I'v even seen single ettins in no group at all.

You will NEVER trigger the anti-farm code farming Ettins. The nature of the run just will not activate it. I've farmed hundreds and hundreds of gold armors from them over a 3-week period and the results are always the same (however they are random). If you did a run and didn't get any armors, it's just dumb luck, period.
The only way to activate the code is to kill the very first group in NKP, run back to the Nebo portal and do it again. Keep doing this for about 12-17 times and you will see the pop-up warning you about the activation.
You can farm them until your fingers turn blue as long as you farm the entire NKP area and zone into the Scoundrals Rise (spelling*) portal.

Yeah, the Wilds do randomly spawn once in a while, but they pose no threat (depending on your build of course).
The Ettins can be pesky little *$%&s but they will eventually surrender the "famous/infamous" rare Ettin Pauldron.

Since the Luxon and Kurzik camps were added I've noticed they ettins stopped dropping runes.

Absolutely nothing changed for me when the Lux and Kur camps were added. They still drop gold armors faster than I can say, "Yippy, another Superior Vigor!"

I found a better spot for runes already so its fine.

ive only tried it twice. once for 3 hours and once for 1 hour. not one single rune of any color. maybe my luck just sucks

I have only my own personal data and experiences to base this information from. However, I've salvaged more armors that I can count including, Ettins, Titan, Avicara, etc., and the results are all the same. I've salvaged Superior Absorbs from a level 30 armor as well as a level 40 armor.
And yes, I have a long list of people that can confirm these numbers

Keep in mind there are bugs in this game. I don't know if that is what this is or if my luck is really good. They character I'm using was created with a very good seed. Let me put it this way I've found more sup absorptions than vigors with this character.
I usually find between 2-6 sup runes a day at the spot. Other than that I'm salvaging rare materials.
Ettins have been dead to me for about 7 months now. Me and my brother discovered them back in june or august. Farmed there till it got really popular. After that we started coming out with less and less. Our drops were fine until the rest of GW showed up and drops were lowered overall.
If you think ettins are good now you should have seen back then.
Agree that armor lvl means absolutely nothing. My first rune was a sup abosorption from a lvl 10 monster. Still have that run because it has blue text and a minor skin. Been pondering on how much that would be worth now. For some reason it didn't get converted when the skins were changed.

i know a nice unnerfed place where lots of runes drop. not as fast as ettins but other golds can drop there too. got a few perf mods but i dont do it anymore as i have little need for any more gold.

IT does seem different since the update last night... the camps are gone, there's more ettins... and in three runs, I got one minor soul reaping. Not even a purple... I've never seen it so poor.

I have yet to see any significant drop in the quality of ettin farming. They still drop rare pauldrons for me and, if anything, the other day I noticed really good spawns with like 4 groups of 3 in NKP and then at least 5 groups of 3 in Nebo.

I'm seeing "the other day", "in the last few day" and other such comments. How many of you have tried ettin farming today? I've been out there twice and only got one blue pauldron. Maybe I'm the only one having this luck?

I farm ettins every day and usually I get every 2. run a golden armor. After the patch (today) I see much more tengus and got nothing. I'm sure this is not bad luck.

ettins farming is all about hit or miss. Sometime you get tons of runes, while other time you get nothing but humps or crappy items.
