Goodbye HoD value :-D

GuildWiki Notes
* The borders of wards are now marked more distinctly.
* Scar Pattern Armor now affected by dye coloring differently (change in resulting color/shade).
* The book trick and bundle tactics seem to have lost their effectiveness in focusing enemy fire.
* Meika Ulrikar and Dalos Ekarus have settled in a small home by the farm where Miraba lives a short walk north of Lion's Arch. They offer no quests at the moment.
* Scroll foci have been renamed to Earth Scrolls.
* Upon entering an area, the area type is listed before the area name.
* Weapons can now drop with +5 energy as an inherant mod, in place of a damage-increasing mod.
* Pre-Streaming of about 60MB
* Completing a mission bonus will now display an arbitrarily large amount of experience and 8 skill points earned, in the chat box, but the actual amount earned is still 1,000 and 0 skill points.

They removed the engery weapons (seems like it wasn't suppose to go live yet)... but.. expect them to show up again latter.
They had 4 patches to undo a lot of things the 1st patch rolled out.

Back on track now...
The HoD swords energy + isnt affected by the requirment.
But in the new swords isnt the energy affected by the requirment? Its under the Requirment list.
If I have got this write and not made a fool of myself then want these new energy +'s only be of any good for Warriors? As other class's cant match the req?

Woot, new record set. The number of times "because" has been used in a single thread.

This thread was probably made to piss off the people who brought the HoD for stupid amounts of cash and now its worth nothing. Its a risk people took and its their fault no need to make more threads on the same matter.
Sidra
This thread was made to contemplate how the +5 energy mod would effect the market before I realized that it was removed and that there was already a topic.
floplag
how about hello balance and goodbye to the unfair benefit some held ?
Theus
The benefit from the +5 energy alone was incredibly small.
Since by wearing a Hod Sword, and (for example) a Inscribed Chakram of Domination with 20/20, you can basicly get the same stats through a Staff with an insightful staff and and enchanters wrap, and 20/20.
I always never understood why people got into such a fuss over the HoD sword in the first place.

What's wrong with those people flooding "Droknar/LA Local" with "hahaha, lolz, roflcopter - HoD sucks now" Why would you keep severe anger inside yourself for so many months because you were never able to afford one? And now that the value seems to trend down quite fast you are happy because of? Er right... Not to mention that this sword was never overpowered at all. *shakes head*
Witchblade
Hod has always been crap .. FFS 15% ftw
anyway they should have removed the sword instead of making avalaible to everyone
15>50 drops will be harder to get cauz of this mod

it isnt as much the perception/reality of the overpowered that i found distatseful, but the fact that the price was so out of whack for such an itme that those who had the game longer than i had a built in financial benefit

Remember - all of these came from a crafter for like 1,000 gold or something. Had they never been removed no one would have been able to play the get rich quick game.

Next step, create low price caps for sup vigs and absorptions so the average non grind-fan can afford them.

The difference between 41, and 50 health is small. So small I dont care to use ANY sup vigors on ANY of my pve chars - The cost per point of health is very low.
Major Vigors are a better investment.
hyro yamaguchi
Not Sup vigor, maybe absortion yes, but SV is far to good to be a low lvl item.
I really don't get why people want a sup abs so bas. I think it's become more like FoW armour: a money spender.
I mean; -75 health for -3 dmg per attack, that doesnt include hexes/conditions etc. 25 attacks to earn it back, but a single healing toch each 20 attacks works just as well. And it raises your resistance to spiking more than a spu abs, sup abs is as far as I'm concerned only good for the 55hp wars/ettin farmers (which has been nerfed?)
If you replace the sup abs with sup vigor you get +125 health which is the same as 41/42 attacks at a sup abs.

Sup vigor "far to good"?
Its NINE health more than a major vigor. zOmG PwNz0rs - We cant have n00bs' running round with too 1337z0-r health, WE'lL never kill them!@!@!!!@!@@!@!@!@!@!!!!
And in PvE no less...You dont even need runes....at all...to Pwn most of PvE.
Sup Abs. is atleast good. no health penalty for a decent -3 all the time. Meh.

I guess not. I don't even have a tank and I understand how much -15dmg is worth...
Sir Skullcrasher
i guess a-net jumped the gun when they release the +energy weapons too early. Question for everyone, is the + energy only for swords or will it be a mod for all the weapons out there?
Ineffiable

55 monk/necro builds, since HOD provides enchanting, +5 energy, and if the necro brought it, could have icy for spinal shivers.
And IW Illusionary Weaponry.
The elite mesmer skill.
What better sword than one that makes IW (if i recall, its an enchantment) longer and gives you +5 energy?
People fail to see how good an HoD sword can be.
But I'll comment its not worth the price, good to know it will see it's demise soon.
deluxe
i think i will allways prefer a fiery flame spitter (of enchanting).

Axes were being sold with these mods, or so I've heard, and it was possible to create PvP bows with this bonus (I think) so I'd say it's unlockable through all classes and all weapons. Unlockable in the sense that it can be identified. Now what will be interesting to see, is if there are +1, +2, +3, and +4 energy mods (i.e. imperfect 10^50 mods and things like that) or if it will always be +5 energy.
MMSDome
noooooo! Not the book trick, God no!!!! I shall miss it, hell i care more about that then the sword, thats gotta suck if you waited to long to sell
NJudson
Ok, I admit that I'm a noob when it comes to high end items and stuff (I just started farming SF the other day), but I've read about HoD swords for a while, but never really knew what they were until now (sort of). I'm still a little fuzzy on them. Were they rare drops in Henge of Denravi or from a quest or mission? I'm not necessarily interested in one, but just curious where they come from?
Sidra
They were swords that could be attained in the Henge of Denravi town which gave you an inherent +5 energy bonus that could be coupled with a 20% enchantment mod to make for a very nice 1-handed weapon to be used with the -50 cesta for 55-monking and 55-necros. People like it a lot, but I have never been able to understand why.
Bahumhat
If they are gonna add the +5 energy swords(axes or hammers maybe), why not put back the HoD sword? So people can craft it, I mean if this was for balencing, what makes HoD imbalenced now?
master_ranger_matt
The HOD sword was one thing I was smart enough not to invest in. I knew that if things started to get too outrageous then ANet would nerf them back. By the time I had enough cash to buy them, the price wasn't raising, and now they're nerfed. I feel sorry for those who did invest, but that's the risk. I've lost a good amount of money (ot as much as a HoD sword) from stuff, but if you invest in a lot of things then you'll eventually make it up.
Sidra
Unfortunately, there aren't really many stable things in the market right now. Deldrimore steel is the only thing i've seen consistant throughout my playing of this game.
