Tips and Maps for 100% Tyria Exploration (No Map Checks)

munnif: I use a different process altogether.
I'm into ripping DVD's and converting them to AVI (matroska actually) format. To assist with the conversion I use a scripting program called AviSynth (plugged into VirtualDub).
What I do is I get someone's screenshot, take my own screenshot (matching the clouds), and load it into VirtualDub. I'm essentially creating a 2 frame movie (frame 1 being my map and frame 2 being your map).
What this program allows me to do, is with no lag time or anything else wierd going on, is hit the left/right arrows and flick back and forth at an extremely fast rate to catch shimmers.
I can spot shimmers deep in the jungle with this process, because it's happening so fast.
The next step is to do a difference of the two (IE: like Photoshop, but I can do it with my program).
I then copy that frame (now 3) to the clipboard, go into paint, paste it, highlight the areas that need work, save that new file.
Go back into my program, do a chroma comparison (another method of overlaying two pictures) of the edited picture and the original map to create the final product you saw.
Setting it up is a little tricky but once you do it a couple of times, it's so quick and painless that the most difficult part is making the clouds match.
It's also superior, in my opinion, to the Photoshop method because of the ability to catch the shimmering.

Right, it’s been a while since my last post....but I’m 99.7%. Thanks to Wobrak doing my map I actually got there easily. You just need to learn how to find the "stinking out" bits. THE GMC guide does help, remember go back to n00b places. That’s where most of my map was.
I still need to do Fire Isles again and I am pretty confident my last .3% is there. I'll be going there tomorrow 22Nov and hopefully report back on GMC

Hey guys, I've managed to get to 97.4% and im just wondering on where it is I'm missing. It seems to me like there is a huge area, since ive been hugging the borders like one might to a long lost brother....except the feeling isn't so sincere.
I recently saw this thread and was wondering if someone could help me out. I've attached my map.
(updated from 96.9% to 97.4% and reattached a higher resolution map)

Here's a quick comparison for ya. The red circled areas require further exploration.
Kiebin
The first spot is just outside of Granite Citadel in the NW corner. You may have to move around to find a elimination point. Watch out for the ambush!
The second spot in the SE corner has to be reached from inside Tasca's and also from Spearhead Peak.
Tasca's Demise side - follow the path to the SE corner
Spearhead Peak side - Start from Copperhammer and follow the north wall all the way to Citadel.

Thanks Wobrak, so far your help has been truly commendable. However I'm now stuck at 99.7% (yay eh .2% progress). I feel totally stupid about the bit between the falls and Reed Bog as it actually never occured to me I was missing bit from the Reed Bog side
About Spearhead Peak, the Dunes of Despair and the Frost Gate, I went there and tried scraping, but with no noticeable differences. I'll include screens of the mission map from there if you'd please tell me if I'm missing something obvious...

Don't feel stupid. When I was at 99.8% I found the last .2% in an area I had already visited three times prior.
You're good in Dunes and Spearhead. Unfortunately it looks like you need to revisit Reed Bog and a few other spots.
Frost Gate is a pain! It took me about three complete passes on that mission to totally uncover it. Keep at it and don't give up. You're almost there. New map attached.

Thanks to you guys im nearly there, Im now up to 99.7%
I have checked most of the places you said, and it IS adding up, however it would be nice to get another difference opinion from my own, I konw there is 0.1% at the back of Aurora glade, however after 5 attempts and failing the mission before its all explored its driving me crazy.
any other bits? I went over Snake dance and Grenths Footprint again, and again. with the new update which makes random enemies follow you forever, i cant run it as easily as i used to. I went to the three places and walked against the wall again and again and no joy, so i give up on them.
if someone could have a gander i would be very chuffed. (1024x768)

I've already had a map done before too, so no rush, but I am much farther along now and I'm afraid areas I tried to cover didn't actually get done properly. I've gotten to 98.6% and don't have the luck for that final corner in Dunes.I can't figure out how to map the lower areas of Frost Gate. It looked simple enough off of wiki but I can't seem to find the right place to walk/teleport.
Thanks for the help so far, its really amazing!

i scouted around and found no entry
i also recently did a bit more uncovery with getting on rurik's path on the frost gate....

Thanks for the help so far, its really amazing! Finally something I know.
The easiest way to get on the path is in the middle. After you kill the second engineer, you backtrack a bit and go through a gate then up a narrow path.
Then you enter the caves area where the dwarf is hiding. On your left is frost dryders and there are ettins on the right. Kill the dryders then head towards the ettins. Above you there is a narrow bridge. Get right under the middle of the bridge and kill an ettin. You may have to flag the henches to stop them getting the aggro. Hopefully you are in the niddle of the bridge. Use necrotic traversal and bingo, you are teleported onto the bridge above. The is the same trick used in the northern wall mission.

Here's a new comparison for ya. I didn't see any difference at Aurora Glade. Running isn't always the best option especially when you are trying for specific spots. I suggest you grab some heros/henchies and clear the area you need to explore.
Traxorz
Please retake your map screenshot using one of the following resolutions: 1600x1200 or 1280x1024 or 1024x768. In the mean time follow DeMiGod's suggestion to clear Frost Gate. Also there is an area just north of the Ice Caves enterance that you can easily clear. (Click Me)

I looked at the map I made for ya and I see why it's confusing. I apologize. There is a spot on both sides that needs to be uncovered. Here's a crop of the area, the green circles show the individual spots on each side.

Alright, I saved in a different resoultion, looks pretty weird on my wide screen, hope it works out better for you though!
I already did that necrotic traversal trick, but when I tried to go farther south into the bottom most regions, I couldn't find the right path to get all the way down. There was a closed door in my way that I couldn't kill anything to teleport past on, but I think that would have taken me back to the main path. Guess I'll have to give it another try so I can point out where the problem was/fix it.

hey folks,
i did explore some of the areas wobrak circeled, i made a X on which areas i actually explored some.
i made a question mark on spots im not sure i exploreded anything or i didnt see any difference.
Marked Nr.1: how can i get there, there is a statue of grenth below the circle but it seems unreachable
Marked Nr.2: dont really know how to get this spot
Marked Nr.3: dont really know how to get this spot
i guess i would need another comparison. here my maps
i am at 99,8 % now

Well, I've been reading this thread for a few days now and I must admit, I am truly impressed by the willingness of other players to help out those who are seeking this title.
I have just recently started chasing the "title" even tho I've always tried to explore the map... just never knew about the title parts. Anyway, I've hit a tad over 95% and unfortunately, I missed all the pvp arenas early on in the game.
I know for a fact that I have alot of stuff left in the ring of fire islands, and the end part of THK. I've been looking at alot of the maps posted and I have tried to hit those areas that are frequently missed by most players.
If someone has a chance, please look at this map (1024x768), and give me some pointers. I have a feeling that I will need to go back and hug the borders in a lot of areas as I always ran or fought near the boarders, and never realized that you had to literally hug the wall to get those obscure foggy areas off the map.
Anyway, any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fenrus
EDIT: Went back to THK and that picked up an additional 0.3% for me, so now I'm at 95.4%. I estimate that I can get another 1-maybe 2% by finishing Ring of Fire Islands.

I must say it was not an easy task finding differences between our maps. I had to use both "Difference" and "Color Burn" to possible areas and to be honest I'm only sure about some of them. The rest could be just differences in pixel color and not necessarily differences in what's been uncovered.
Spots I'm sure about (showed up in both comparisons):
SW area of Great Northern Wall mission
West area of Eastern Frontier
SW area of Regent Valley
SE area of Deldrimor Bowl
South area of Witman's Folly
SW shoreline of Gates of Kryta mission
NE wall of Nebo Terrace
You're almost there keep it up.

Right thank you Wobrak, can't believe I had missed bits of the map but I'll blame it doing those areas with another character and actually scraping every bits... That'll teach me to use multiple characters at once
So yeah Wobrak, you're the man, I hope someone in the higher up will notice what you did to everyone in this thread because it sure deserves a mention.

So before I went to work I thought I'd post it up here in hopes of finding some more spots so I can work on them when I get home.
