Now, I bought this game after playing the FPE. I was on the fence about buying it, but after playing the 12 v 12, I decided to buy it. So the first thing I do when I get the game is go into the alliance battles. However, when I hop into 12 v 12, I am suprised by what I find. I click enter mission and guess what...apparently you can't do that.

So I get in a group of 4, and guess what again, I can only see my party members. Wow, this really helps me as a monk...........not. Now I have to squint my eyes to see my teammates health bars just to be effective.

Not only that, team chat is restricted to your party members. Now the whole battle just seems lifeless and the only point of playing it is to get faction.

Seriously, can someone tell me what Anet DOES over there?

Thanks for fooling me Anet. I hope you're happy. 12 v 12 in the FPE was the deciding factor for me buying this game. I WON'T be fooled again. I really hope this gets patched, otherwise I will NOT be purchasing the next chapter. You're lucky I can't return the game.

Please patch it back to the way it was in the FPE. Just keep the 1 minute timer. That is a good addition.

I continuously saw assurances that one could play PvE with minimal PvP envolvement. Not only does that appear to be a sham, but now I have to destroy my guild and colors in order to join the largest outfit I can find to hae a chance to go places and do things. Now that I am not even allowed to have my own identity and self expression, I am much angrier. It won't go away until this is changed.

kind of glad I didn't buy it yet, I'm still waiting for more reports on what it's actually like, or if there will be any developments on it. For now, I'm still just playing prophecies, and enjoying the scrawny dance assassins and some ritualists that come over from time to time.

And people brought up this very concern long before Factions was released. I made a joke at the time that it would be bad business for them to come out and say, "boy, you guys are going to hate this, then!" Now I wonder if that really was the reason they refused to answer our questions and address our concerns before the release.

I remember everyone coming in here during the FPE and saying how much fun it was.

What happened? Anet hates fun? Do they even bother with what people think?

Personally, I think that the people who are complaining are the ones sniffing glue.

There's a pretty common statistic you tend to learn well when you work retail... angry people have a tendency to bitch and moan roughly 10 times as much as happy people will praise what makes them happy.

The PVE is very different in Factions... well, not so much really different but it seems new and has a very fresh feeling to it. It's almost like Prophecies was made for the sake of making it, and after figuring out the limitations and capabilities of the engine and environment they're using, ArenaNet has pushed those limitations and are showing what they are really capable of.

Granted, they made some changes to the Alliance battles that can make it somewhat frustrating, but not only can you expect them to alter those changes in the future, but the changes were made in earnest - less people ragequit. I only see ragequitting when the team fails to even hit 3 captured shrines at some point in the match.

The PVE though is very, very good. It's intense and deters from the general hack-and-run routine everybody mastered in Guild Wars. Additionally, the challenge missions turn Guild Wars into something totally different - they're like a mix of Sven Coop (a Half Life mod that pits players against singleplayer enemies) and Invasion (an Unreal Tournament 200X gametype that pits players against attacking waves of AI). It bridges PVP-styled group combat with the singleplayer storyline.

Though I will say that the mission quantity of Factions is relatively short-coming (about 60-70 percent of the size of Guild Wars), the titles system gives gamers extra incentive to explore and utilize every single aspect of the game, even down to capturing all of the elite skills and uncovering every corner of the maps.

I personally think that Factions is a dramatic improvement to an already outstanding game, and I look forward to chapter three.

I think if enough people feel this way, they will HAVE to change it. Quite frankly, I don't know what they were thinking. The original way Alliance Battles were done was actually quite fun, but now...meh. Although, I do agree with TRUEgamer that the rest of the game is fairly good.

In response to the "ragequit" argument, they could just make it so that people who take the time to form a group of 4 are put with other people that did the same. Because, honestly, there are some people that might prefer the structure and others who want the chaos; this way, both parties are satisfied.

after losing some interest in gw after beating it several times and having dialup, thus not being invited or able to join any HoH groups or any Guilds (dialup + vent or TS = shit) i was really looking forward to the 12v12 and had made a really good build for it inthe fpe too. anet really screwed this up with the new 12v12 and as a result ive just been playin starcraft since the PvE is really f'in annoying

Wow, there's really nothing interesting left to read in this forum. It's all just bitching about factions here and there...

I've heard of another "statistic" that companies use to measure their customers. 1 angry email = 10 angry customers, 1 angry phonecall = 100 angry customers, and 1 angry letter = 1000 angry customers. So for each person who comes in to your store to "bitch and moan" there are probably 9 others sitting at home, who quietly resolved to no longer buy from your company and never get tricked again.

I don't like the way Factions changed my understanding of what Guild Wars is. I don't like the speed at which characters can progress through Factions. I don't like the "arcade" missions and the "persistant war" setup and the fact that alliances have a chance to affect gameplay instead of simply allowing large guilds to stay together, because that means few alliances will dominate and many will fail and disband, or think all their work is for nothing.

But I still play Factions, because I know there will be things that I like if I stick around. I already like the chance to reenter mission areas after the mission is complete without restarting it, and I'm sure I will find more things as I keep getting through it. But if I have a problem with Factions, and a way to improve it, I will let Anet know so that they can improve Factions the way they've been improving Prophecies and the way I hope they keep improving their future games.

If Anet are as responsive to player feedback as they claim to be, they will listen.

We'll, I wouldn't bitch about it if they left it the way it was.

Secondly, I PAID for this game. I would argue against bitching too if the game was free. However, I paid $70 for this game based on what I saw in the FPE. I was on the fence about the PvE but the 12 v 12 really sold it for me. I feel cheated now since I despise 12 v 12 now based on what they did to it.

If I could return the game, I would, and rebuy it if they did fix it. Unfortunately, I can't do that. My only option is to seriously reconsider buying the next chapters. If Anet can make a move like this, well, I'm sorry. I can't trust them anymore.

They take a feature that 90% of the people loved and changed it so that 90% of the people hate it. Does that make sense?

aren't you a little bit dramatic here?

K I agree, alliance battles were alot more fun in FPE and I rly hope they will change it to BUT

I am getting sick of these rants, before factions came out I would check guru's everyday but now... omg there are like 5 million posts about ppl not happy with this ppl not happy with that... about the most idiot things.

Is it that hard to just explain something in a normal way?

Statistics mean little. Unfounded statistics mean even less.

I truly enjoy the alliance battles the way they are now--giving you the ability to Heal Party and Aegis and Order of Pain twelve people at once is a little...off, don't you think? I like the squads of four better.

I wish I had the topic that had A TON of people praising the 12 v 12.

Also, true gamer. I don't understand why 80% of your topic is dedicated to PvE. This topic is about 12 v 12. That's it.

That looks like a pretty complete and ongoing thread right there. Why didn't you post your complaints there, instead of wasting space and making a new one?

Ok I'm going to say this in a calm rational manner so I won't be accused of being an "angry" or "irrational" whiner who just likes to complain.

The Alliance battles in 12v12 were definately much more fun for me. I've seen a lot of people on the forums agree with this.

The current 3 groups of 4 man teams don't make it feel like you're on a 12 man team at all. I just feel like I'm in random/team arenas except with a bigger map.

Now if they at least show the other 2 team's (your teams I mean) health bars and make it so team chat is universal for the 3 teams that would at least improve things a little. If they want to separate the teams, that's fine I guess. If the problem is that some skills are too powerful when applied to 12 people, then just add those two improvements that I suggested and it will help things a lot.

Actually, I'm semi-new to this forum. Browse it once in a while. I had no idea that discussion was going on.

But you can clearly see the posters that disagree with Anet's decision.

Those are some good statistics if you ask me.
