MERGED: Enjoying Factions Threads
Kalki
I don't really have much to say about the game. I'm not going to list the million and one things I love about the game, and the 2 or 3 things I think could be improved.
I'm just posting to counter some ridiculous rants, and say thanks. If you don't feel you got enough for your $50, then go spend $15 a month on WoW, or buy a new console game every week. This game has tons of replayability. If you choose not to play it then don't complain, and don't buy chapter 3. It's as simple as that.
The complaints that get on my nerves the most are the people that make Anet look like a bunch of lying crooks. Do you slanderers work for EA or Blizzard or something? How could you be so clueless?
For me Guild Wars is worth $50 and another $15 a month, and it blows my mind that Anet isn't greedy enough to squeeze that extra $15 out of me every month. Cheers to Anet and all the fans that support it. And to the rest of you... get your head checked.

Very much agreed.
Diablo???
I won't say I dont have a few dislikes, but the majority of the game is very impressive. I am absolutely loving it. You really have to play other mmo's for a while to really appreciate the difference and uniqueness that is Guild Wars, what sets it apart from the other run-of-the-mill mmos, and not just the monthly fees, but a completely different experience.
Stolen Souls
At first, honestly, I didn't really know if I was going to like Factions all that much. The whole "slum-like" atmosphere, repetitive quests, etc...kinda had me wondering.
But after a while of playing, and making a lot of progress, I started to realize just how cool it really was. The missions are challenging, and VERY fun. The ONLY mission I really did not like was Vizuna, for obvious reasons.
So I have to agree. Really awesome game!

I have to agree, this game does keep me coming back to do all the missions and get my assassin up to level 20. Also i want to see every part of Cantha. And collect all the greens out there. The best part, no monthly fee, which i hope will be like that for future Guild Wars titles.
Eet GnomeSmasher
I really like the game as well. It's not perfect of course, but I'm not going to let little things bother me like some people do. The whole look and feel of the game is nice change from Prophecies.

YES! Someone with the same views as me, ive mostly seen hate threads with deaht threats, Factions is a awsome new guild wars
Insurgent
Agreed, i just read the whole "i hate factions" thread and in my opinion a lot of those guys need a tissue. You cant judge how much of an impact the new classes and skills are goin to have on the meta game in a week. That is rediculas, these things will take a lot of experimentation and ill bet we will see some dominating builds comming, that will utilize the new skills.
I am loving this iteration of GW, for me it has breathed life into an old game, not that i didnt still play the older version.
I love the fact my char leveled so fast (L20 in around 20 hours) , it means that i dont have to slog killing monsters over and over again. And also the fact you get oodles of skill points as well.
Some of the new missions or insanly fun as well, the farming ones with something akin to a high score board just give me more reason to play p v e and these missions over and over again, and im predominatly a p v p player.
Im all, this game was definatly worth the money for me, perhaps because i can afford it? Sure its got a few teething problems, but hey counterstrike took 6 years to get the level it has. Well done area net.

I've been in love with Factions since the FPE. I just got it today, and I can hardly stop playing. Unfortunately, I need sleep...
In terms of story, level design, everything, I think Anet has really outdone themselves. And Shing Jea is just the best tutorial I've ever seen.

People need to just stop bickering over this and that and this and that. ANET made you a wonderful game, something that took those programmers a lot of time. There are going to be glitches, it is a new game (that is what updates are for) At least we don't have to patch GWs unlike all the FFXI and WoW users, we have that GENIUS update system to help with that!
As far as all the complaints about factions, the only two major issues I have with it are the 12v12 combat, and its new mechanics and the new chat suppression level (which btw isn't just factions, so I guess I can't really count that...but it is annoying to the high heavens...)
Factions is beautiful. The "presearing" island is GORGEOUS, with nicer graphics, improved monster AI, scenery to make you drool over. So what if you run into a locked gate? You have had the pleasure of exploring that area on the way to that locked gate, and chances are, the monsters on the other side of that locked gate are going to own your face if you don't have access to/were not able to complete that particular quest. I am an LBS student runner (if you care to contest this, feel free to contact Hanso or Mason or Elita) and the locked gates do NOT anger me in the least. I think that they provide a stop for the level 3s and 4s that want 15k armor (HHHAHA, I laugh at you!) Earn your armor you twits! Play the game! It is a NEW experience with each character class playing through each time, and honestly, Factions isn't very long, so you shouldn't mind playing through it casually 4-6 times. That's my two cents. Back to playing Factions for me. Cheers.

Finally a thread that I can agree with! To all who made this game what it is, you have my thanks. Having only heard about 12v12 changes and not experienced them, I can't speak with certainty. I will say that I loved the FPE and would like to see that type of battle again. Locked gates? They don't bother me in the least. Rather I am pleased to see them. Thus far, Factions has been worth every penny. "Old" quests and repeated skills don't bother me. I don't play the game for the quests or the skills. I play the game because I enjoy it, and because I enjoy the people that I play with. Those that complain will complain no matter what Anet throws their way.

I like Guild Wars but can’t argue with 6million people for you about the $15 tag.
I play both and dont find any a RIP off.
me just making a point.
Edit; and btw Blizzard is not just about WoW in case you dont know. people that made/created GW worked at/for Blizzard, so its in their BLOOD. lol

I played both chapters and love them both.
Although the new map smaller there is loads of quests and the game keeps making you go back to areas you thought you were done with to complete even more quest.Getting skill points enough to cap alot of skills.Im enjoying the ride anet keep it up

If I were a new player that hadn't heard of prophecies before, i'd love Factions even more.
And here's my favourite feature of the day:
"Mission areas are explorable"
yeeeeeeeah!!

Yes! Thank you so much for posting this! Factions, while not perfect, is what I was expecting. And I'm strangely fine with this, because I love the new content!

Sure, there are always going to be those whose comments are pretty useless rants screaming about this and that without giving a thorough analysis and explanation, but that will happen anywhere in relation to anything.
My point is, don't knock the complaints. Complaints are what will make the changes that you will appreciate down the road.

I am having a blast with factions. Granted I have only been able to play for a few hours because of a very hectic couple of weeks. However, I am having a lot of fun. I am playing a monk, now that i have a slot available for a monk. I am spending some time getting used to the spells and duties of a monk, I hope to be beneficial to my guild in the near future.

It's nice to see these threads, though they're always vastly outnumbered by the complaints. Not to say the complaints are never justified; they often are. Arena.net do read complaint threads and they do act on them. There's always room for improvement, but overall* I'm very pleased with how Factions has turned out. I can't play right now and it's horrible. I'm stuck conceptualizing builds and I can't try them out. The horror!
It's going to be very interesting to see how the new classes and skills affect the PvP metagame as people start to figure things out.
*Are Bloodstained Boots available in Canthan skins yet?

Totally agree. Props to A-Net for putting out a grade A product!
I think they updated it, not sure though

Yeah you'll always see more people complaining than lauding the game because those that are enjoying it are usually playing it!
Great job, A-Net. Throw another bag of hotpockets in that dark room where the coders live and whisper somethin adding an equivalent to Tombs or SF for Factions!!
Points of Awesomeness:
1. Archipelego - What a unique texture, so different and beautiful the way it catches and reflects the light, really happy I have a video card that renders it well.
2. The sound effect in Harvest Temple - I first noticed the effect on the last mob approaching Unwaking Waters, and thought my sound driver was takin a dump (WTH? Sounds like I'm underwater!). Fantastic effect!! Don't get me started on the mobs in Harvest Temple, I wish everything was this challenging.
3. Dragon's Throat/Altruum Ruins/Zos Shivros Channel - Strait up bare knuckles brawls rock hard!! Especially Zos Shivros aka 'Operation - Keep the nub with Strength and Honor alive!' (That was him casting that right? God I hope so.)
There's many other points, but it's time to play some more! GG's!!

Some of the overlapping patrols can make some of the areas ridiculously difficult but for the most part they did well. The AI has stepped up and is now more of a challenge. If you don't believe me wait until one of the Am Fah groups spikes you. I couldn't believe it the first time it happened. I was speechless. The new skins are awesome and they didn't screw up farming as bad as people make out. I really enjoy that aspect of the game and I'm glad to see I can still do it.

Ok first of all..., WoW is a WHOLE different game and some ppl just like gw better than WoW. A lot of people i know would definitely pay and monthly fee for gw, but Anet doesn't charge so doesn't mean that people that complain should quit this game. And for what I know, everyone complains about something in this game, so dont think they totally hate the game.
btw...this thread is based on your complaint of others in gw, so doesn't this make you a hypocrit for complaining that other people are whining?

way back in june 05 i had already had much more fun than the 50 dollar price of the game.
at that time (and others) i stated that it was a very enjoyable game and that i had already gotten my moneys worth and that anything else from then on was icing on the cake.
i am still enjoying it even though i havent been everywhere /done everything yet but have racked up 1000+ hours of fun.
so yes you can make a personal judgement of the game without finishing it.
and i expect issues to be fixed as time passes.
patience grasshopper

=] that's what I'm sayin.. think alot of the complaints have to do with the newbie island- a bad representation of what factions is like after the marketplace.. the jade sea looks absolutely awesome- explored the full luxon map and was impressed (I have a high end rig- the jade sea actually looks like jade).. check out those saltspray dragons and that fish boat in the middle you can actually climb into! I'm exploring all of the kurz right now- seems pretty gothic but nothing is lacking details.. really enjoying the game so far.. if anet wants to change anything- work on the beginning island missions and that landscape..

$50 for 6 months before another chapter is released. $8 a month. I don't think it is worth that, at all.

there are plenty of sore gripe threads so why pollute a positive thread?
and why put the same garbage on more than one thread?

i wish i could agree but i don't. i expected much more things in factions and most of all, more options. were's that jewelery merchant? were's hair dyes/styles? storage space? trading system? new PVP maps (heros ascent players, u know what i mean)? the 12 ppl party? why so much bugs in pve missions? i would have much more questions but i'll leave it at that. for the 50$ i payd, i think i got ripped off.

hair dyes/styles were said to be popular items which would be looked into.
trading is still in the works and was never promised by a certain date.
storage space may be those optional character slots which equal 2.25 storage bins each
the bugs will be swatted as it is a fresh game not a week old yet.
