at least 3 inspiration for sure, and i suggest 11 tact for ViM heals. spread the rest out however you want but keep in mind what you need for your sword and that the higher your swordsmanship, the longer they bleed.
duelist helm, knights boots, glads rest for armor works fine (highly suggest superior absorption somewhere in there - my build used sup swords, sup vigor, sup abs, minor tact and str)
FDS with +7warding would be optimal
shield with +45/-2 stance or +60/-3 hexed or (best case) -2stance/-3hexed
its pretty self explanatory- dish out the conditions with sever/gash (spread em around for higher heals with ViM). galrath is the finisher. between dolyak, ele resist, and your shield, theyll be doing MINIMAL damage to you. heal sig is emergency use only (once youve practiced this alot, youll find you dont use it much while actually fighting the imps - its just nice to have). sprint is only necessary if youre doing IDS runs - youll need it to get through mineral springs. if youre just farming outside the grotto take either another adrenal sword skill or more defense- i suggest watch yourself until you get the build down).
some tips: in the ice cave, take out trolls ASAP- the disrupt can screw you in the middle of a heal sig. make sure ele resist is up at ALL times- its the meat and potatoes of this build and youll die fast without it. spam dolyak as soon as its recharged- youre slowed by hexes so the movement is never an issue. a not-so-obvious tip that i learned from experience is that once you aggro the imps, back away and let them follow you and "bunch" up- that way you can bleed and deepwound more of them in the same spot.
i suggest you try this build out at the grotto first- lots of imps out there to practice on. if youre doing this for IDSs, you want to have the imp fighting down before you take all the time running to the ice cave. sucks to get there and die
its funny to sit there and tank 10 to 20 imps and take no damage, but imp farming is pretty tedious and i stopped after getting an IDS for each acct. but good luck to ya, and save some frigid hearts for me!

It needs no attribute points and you only need to apply bleed/deep wound to 1 imp and spread it to a much larger audience using Epidemic. ViM will then regen your health instantly. Try it out on the Trolls outside Droks - it works

The W/Me is a good build and you can do well using it but I (personal preference) is to go W/Mo
Skills
Sever Artery (can substitute healing sig until comfortable run and build)
Galrath
Watch yourself
Dolyak
Defy Pain
Mending
Live Vicarously
Sprint (For IDS run)
attributes
Healing prayers 8
Strength 12+ I have mine at 15 with sup rune
Swordsmanship 11+ I have sword at 12 with minor rune
The negative to this build is the run. Since your only healing is mending you have to be smart while running. This should be a very minor negative because with a little practice, you should make it 98% of the time.
The positive to this run is the skills themselves. I can't tell you the number of times I have been with a W/Me and when we get to the cave to start fighting they will say "attack the golems first" or get the Trolls first. The reason is because of the interupt from the trolls and the rust from the golems. The interupts and rust hurts the W/me because they need to cast Elemental Resistance and Healing Sig. If they have rust and they try to cast Healing sig then the have -40 armor for way to long...They take alot of damage...If they cant get off Elemental Resistance then its like Cash says " its the meat and potatoes of this build and youll die fast without it."
With this build you cast twice...at most....to put mending on and to put on live vicarously. You should have Mending on throughout the run to help with damage and you only cast live vicarously just before you start to fight the imps before you engage. For the rest of the time you cast nothing ...only attack. Live vicarously give you health each time you hit something, mending never gets stripped so its on all the time helping health out. Between watch yourself, dolyak and defy it is not uncommon to never drop below 90% health. You just keep attacking and using tactics like Cash said to get them to group together. If you see two ice golems in the group you dont have to worry about them at all. The have no effect on you. So when your standing next to the W/Me at the beginning of the attack and he/she says "attack the golems first." You can think to yourself, do i wanna be nice or do I want to watch the W/me die...
Like any build, if you practice it enough and you master it you will do fine. For the most part you can be very successful with a W/Me build but if you make the run up to the cave and you standing there looking at a room full of imps, trolls and Golems..you can tell you W/Me partner " I will meet you in district one when I get done here."
Notes:
When you get to the cave if imps are mixed with Avicare you have to pull them....If you try to fight them all neither build will help you, everyone dies when they are mixed. I actually find it easier to pull them imps and kill them first and then start the long task of drawing out the guiles and wises since they will follow you and the braves run with you and usually dont run back. Dont be discouraged if they kill you. They are hard to kill in a solo run...Help always comes runnin.
FIrst imp always hits you with mind freeze wait for it to wear off and then sprint to the center of them so that you dont have to walk far to attack. Then hit dolyak and watch yourself and defy over and over as soon as the recharge. Mix in the attacks when the charge .
If you wanna go on a run look me up in the game. Its the same as my name here. I will be more than happy to make a run with you.

How many IDS runs (and how long) does it take to actually get an IDS?
I've completed 3 runs (it took about 2 hours, although I spent some time buying platemail and looking for +7 vs element grip), but haven't got any IDS yet.

Anyway, a W/Me Axe build. Note this is for outside Grotto etc, meaning not IDS running.
12-13 Strength
Req in Axe
Rest in Tactics and inspiration magic
(I'm not good with stats
)
Skills:
1. Dolyak Signet
2. Watch Yourself!
3. Elemental Resistance
4. Cleave/Eviserate {e}
5. Desperation Blow
6. Executioners Strike
7. Healing Signet
8. Penetrating Blow
Its not perfect by any means, I just thought I'd show you what I use anyway.

if the w/me are having trouble with the trolls or golems it is because you are going with idiots. I have taken countless noobs up there and watched them farm the entire cave with practically no effort as far as rust the negative 40 armor will be canceled out by elemental resistance which would put them at the same armor level you would be running as a w/mo. I will leave the golem till i get to him as all i will usually see on the screen are a bunch of zeros much like fow spider farming; trolls however do complicate not for the interupts but because elemental resistance gives - armor to physical attack and they do fairly decent damage at that point one troll has never been a big issue 2 however is a bit tough!

An average run for me takes about 20 min (+/- 10 min depending on Avicara spawns and Ice Beast(love that guy, requires int. skill though))
I've gotten 13 IDS in 16 runs, so like 8/10 to get one (Observe - for me, Friends of mine have gotten like 1 in 10 runs or so)

Its ok Iori. I believe you when you say countless noobs farm the entire cave with no effort. There are times when imps spawn spaced out enough for alot of people to complete the run with ease. Where I believe the W/Me has a problem (based off my experience when partnered many times with a W/Me) is when almost all of the imps, golems, and trolls are in the same area and they are all hitting you at once. Almost every single time I am with a W/me they always tell me to attack the golems or the trolls firsts. As a W/Mo it doesn't matter what you fight. None of them cause you problems. You just deal with the situation. Concentrate on attacking something and not worrying about specific creatures. Trolls are usually first because the come to you instead of you having to go to them. W/me is a fine build and I seen many solo on thier own but I have seen alot of them die. I have also had many of them ask me to die so that they can get back to killing imps. When I go on a IDS run I don't plan on dying, although it happens from time to time.

blue, purple, gold?
max, unmaxed, auto/condition-modded?

max, unmaxed, auto/condition-modded? IDS looks like a fiery dragon sword, except the "flame" is blue.
Sword is always blue.
Always max, always Cold damage, prefix can't be changed.
Always 15>50.

thanks, kinda good that they're always max and 15>50, but also sucks that they're all the same (well except for the pommel mod).
