Elite Mission Available to All ?

What if... the current alliance that held Cavalon was overthrown and the alliance that overthrew them opened up the elite mission to all? Wouldn't that be nice ?

Perhaps a grateful community, in the interest of keeping the elite mission available to all, would donate faction to the controlling alliance so that the "monopoly" guild would never get it back ? Then it would be somewhat community owned and all would be able to enjoy it...

Yes, I think that would be nice.

Would you contribute faction to make this come true?

How about if that new alliance refused to allow any of the current controlling guild members into the mission. Then that alliance would break up and would no longer pose a problem to this idea.

Wouldn't that be nice ?

Edit by Savio:
I went over and deleted the last four pages' worth of inter-alliance fighting, and I don't care to go back over the other six pages. I'm leaving this thread open because it still has some valid discussion about elite missions, and I'm also tired of closing every discussion thread about elite missions because anti-alliance and pro-alliance people flood them with their flaming.

I'm being lenient this time, but be warned: any more alliance vs alliance crap posted and I will start warning and banning.

My guild, The Crusaders, will open The Deep to all once we take Cavalon.

Sounds a bit too much like Communism to gain my favor...

But on a more serious note, why should the currently leading guild be not allowed access? It is no crime to play the game how it was designed to be played. They simply grinded for the position and earned it. Not that they should keep the position forever, I'm jut saying it's not a bad thing that they own Cavalon.

Swinging: I really like your thinking. This would show how the community is more generous and helpful than Anet would antipate.

However, how would you donate faction to an alliance you aren't even in? Ask to be let go by your guild for a day and be accepted into the controlling alliance? If so, you could say, 1k faction points to get in for a day.

This would be a thumb in Anet's face, showing them how their excedingly stingy and frankly unfair polity for elite missions is so despised by all that the controlling, 'open' alliance will make up for the shortcomings that Factions dealt us.

Shantel: isn't Crusaders the Photics guild? If so I have the highest regard, and your offer only goes to confirm this.

If this idea can get off the ground I'm in

Yes just like Shantel said, once we [The Crusaders] take cavalon we will open the elite mission too all. Now im not quite clear on what the process is for that and all that jazz, but you will get in.

If you take shifts you can take in 7 at a time by just mapping, grabbing a team and running in. Then you can leave them there. Finding a party with just your alliance in there can be hard at times...lots of people there would be helpful.

I wonder if some sort of schedule might be useful. I don't like getting all strict and stuff, but you don't want leavers, griefers, disastrously unskilled players, or immature twerps who don't appreciate what is being done for them.

Also a faction donation would be nice, perhaps even necessary to keep Cavalon. Perhaps a bunch of ppl not in the guild could save up a lot of alliance points, all join in and bank some SERIOUS faction points and blow Crusaders right to the top and get Cavalon with a commanding lead, and cruise from there.

;P Help us out then.

We've been working really hard at this, and we still have spots open in our guilds if anyone is interested.

Ok, FYI - Crusaders are not far from taking Cavalon. They currently own the Aurios Mines with about 5 million faction. Cavalon is being held with about 6 million faction.

Vitis:

Yes, I think the GW community "contributing" faction would be needed to make this work more easily in the long term. I can't speak for The Crusaders, but I think based on what I have heard about their character, that they would NOT REQUIRE faction contributions from anyone - other than perhaps their own members. But we in the community should realize it will be our faction that will keep the Deep available to all of us.

As for how to do it: Faction contributions are made in chunks of 5k. So contributions would either be 5k or 10k, since that is the max you can have at any one time. I believe you would have to leave your guild, join a Crusaders guild, make your contribution, quit the Crusaders guild, then rejoin your original. Obviously your temporary membership would get you into the Deep, but I don't think there should be a requirement of making a contribution of faction to get into the Deep, and I don't think the Crusaders would either.

So, if we are serious about wanting to do the elite mission, maybe we should do this. Maybe some of The Crusaders could post some IGNs in this thread to contact to contribute and maybe we can help them get this show on the road...

How about it ?

No more threads about how unfair the inaccess to the elite missions are !!

Hello, I am an officer in Stalker Supremecy IGN Pointblank Death, our guild is part of the TC alliance. I am completely in favor of contributions to take Cavalon and open this mission to all. The current owners had a complete lock on even items comming out of there until Kurzick side began making items available to all. I am personally on the majority of each day as are a few other officers in our guild. We have room to accept either temporary members for contribution or permanent members if you like. Our guild doesn't have any requirements nor will it as far as contribution goes and once we do get Cavalon we won't have any requirements for any to get into the elite mission. AFAIK all you need is a member of the alliance to get into the mission so anyone would be more than welcome to ask someone in our guild to go.

First off... Hi! This is my first post!

I don't like the elitism that I'm seeing... heh, and I run an elite fansite. I think The Deep should be open for all. So... if you want to donate faction to The Crusaders Alliance, you can. We have no intention of locking out the elite mission. Personally, I have no interest in the elite mission or the loot. Yet, I believe players should have access to this content. It's good for the game.

My In-Game name is T A N K... or ... P H O T I C S.

If you want to donate faction to liberate The Deep, let us know. If you want to join our alliance, you can do that too.

We have room for two guilds... looking for teams with 1,000,000 Luxon faction each.

Together we can make Cantha a better place. HA HA

I know I'm gonna be hated for saying this, but if I were in an alliance in control of Cavalon or House zu Heltzer, I'd rather keep it exclusive to guild members. 5+ million faction could be turned into a lot of Jadeite and Amber, and thus the alliance in control loses a lot of gold by controlling it. They make up for their loss with the exclusiveness of the drops from the elite area, and the potential sales of those items.

On the contrary what people are describing of joining a guild, then dumping 5k or 10k Faction into, and leaving sounds like cheating. I also was thinking of another way some people could cheat the faction system, or at least get the most out of it. Let's say Guild leaders from the controlling alliance racked up an enormous amount of faction, then kicked every member in the guild (maybe done with consent, maybe done corruptly), and sat on the top with minimal faction decay due to so few members (don't know what minimal decay would be). I bet that'd piss a bunch of people off.

Anyway, I'm perfectly content with my 15k armor (and hopefully FoW armor someday) and my rare Chaos axe. I have no problem that people more dedicated to PvE have newer and fancier loot, cause mine is already good enough.

Actually, decay is 10% a day, regardless of how many members you have.

That's not what The Crusaders is about. We're one of the oldest, if not the oldest, guild in the game. Visit http://photics.com if you doubt it. We're not out to rip guilds off. We're here to open The Deep for everyone.

What choice is there? Have one group that hogs the loot all to themselves, or have an alliance that tries to open the place up to everyone? I think the latter is better for the community.
