Oh how sad... I mean I really feel sorry for XoO and the lack of GOLD items to sell. Considering there are all kinds of people (90% game base)who actually would like to play the Elite missions not for GOLD but for entertainment.
No sympathy here
Elite mission chests already nerfed....:(

I do play it for entertainment, but at the same time a part of that entertainment is the reward of having something nice in return for hours of work. I haven't sold even a third of the stuff I've gotten down there. Some has gone to guildies, some to friends and I've found use for some. Have I sold some of it? Yes. But go look at my sell thread. It's not in the "high end". I have no ridiculous "reserve price". I don't even post a s/b or b/o. I simply let it go. If people are interested in an item, they'll bid on it. I even stop the bidding and close an item if I feel the price has gotten too high and the bidders are "overpaying" just for the skin. My point is simply this: an "elite mission" should have "elite drops". I don't expect every monster I sneeze at to drop a gold, but for 4 hours of slogging through, I should come out with a couple perfect golds that even if I can't use them, someone else might be able to.

i personally believe there is a sort of anti-farming code for chests. ive been running witmans folly and talus chute (and snakes dance to a lesser degree) for the treasure hunter title. this morning, after having taken lots of time off finishing the protector of tyria title, my witmans runs consisted of 7 rares in a row for the first few runs (i usually see 2 to 3 chests without going too far into shadows territory), a rare and a grape for the next few runs, and then (you guessed it) purples in both for the last few before i got bored.
i dont have any statistics to back this up and im not about to keep track of everything i get, but this isnt the first time or place ive had this happen. it seems when i chest run then zone a few times, the drops get worse. STATISTICALLY speaking, this shouldnt happen- if gold should drop 1/5 to 1/3 of the time, then the first few drops shouldnt ALL be gold.
of course, this all may be luck. but it has made me reconsider how many chest runs ill do at a time. now ill do 15-20 runs and go cap a skill or farm something for a while before continuing.
so i guess the point is: if people are repeatedly doing these elite missions and my speculation is correct, that would explain why the so-called "elite" drops are getting worse.

Imo it is a bit unsensitive to come complaining about sucky drops in the elite mission when one of the biggest gripes of the community is the inability to get in. Though I will not flame the OP but I do think these complaints are rather poor taste.
Anyway, Anet never promised 'godly' drops in the Elite missions. I was even surprised when it became apparent the elite missions had unique skins. Though I can understand people want some nice goodies to show for all their hard work it would be rather silly if you got 4 perfect golds from a four hour trip... That would basicly mean the elite mission are by far the 'hottest' money earning zone in the game.
Yes, the elite missions are probably very cool and all, but if they were given 'super' loot the Alliance system would be skewed even mored then it already is.
and @Reverse Oreo:
You totally missed the point. Some people would welcome the challenge to beat them. Slaughtering those hundred of monsters would be their idea of fun. Though you might not have the same opinion the fact still stays the same. Tyou and some other 'happy few' have access to them 24/7 is completely irrelevant. It is a bummer you're bored with them already but plz don't tell others what they should find entertaining. Right now, even the entertainment from a first run is denied to a lot of people.

And did you realize elite missions are not for just anybody? Working hard to get access to EM shouldn't be rewarded with full purple chests. I can understands the OP's complaint. I haven't been able to play any elite missions myself, but I know that I wouldn't like to open a bunch of chests to get a bunch of grapes. Like oreo said, they don't have to be MAX gold, just the reward of getting a few golds for all the monsters you have to fight through in order to get to the chests is the work, or entertainment as some put it.

on top of that the decay can just be explained as hitting the farmingcode or it being random.

Basically, I have no sympathy for you whatsoever.
I don't say this out of jealousy as I don't really PvE all that much anyway (And quite frankly, don't care), I just find it distasteful how apparently hypocritical Anet seem to be atm as to their goals for the game, and the actual reality of the game itself.

It's almost like "something" gets written on your character once you've obtained a certain amount of good stuff. It may stay on there until the servers reset then it starts over, I don't know. None of it really bothers me though.
