The Overpowered Bosses?
Zero Red
How can bosses in Cantha do insane damage with their magic? Lian, Dragon's Petal, located right outside of The Marketplace will use Dragon Stomp on my assassin who has 70 armor and do 208 damage. That takes 45 earth magic, or some serious armor penetration (80%ish), and no, Dragon's Stomp does not have armor penetration and is not a special skill. In fact, its somewhat weak. Has anyone else been having problems with this.
By the way, if this was answered in another thread please tell me which one it was in.

Bosses now do double damage and attack/cast twice as fast as ordinary mobs, if I recall correctly. But, since they spam skills like crazy, a couple of mesmer Diversions will make them drop like a proverbial sack of potatoes.
Zero Red
Well thanks for clearing that problem up, but I think double damage is a little extreme since bosses can easily two shot people. Its hard to deal with them using henchies only.
Ira Blinks
it feels more like tripple or even more... unless there is some sick AL formula comes into place

I go it alone with henchies all the time against various bosses. Solo-henched Tahnnaki Temple and got a Master's rating on it; solo-henched Boreas Seabed, Expert award. But then, I'm not a front-line fighter either.

I had a real fun time tonight capping Vengeful was Khanhei from Bazzr Dustwing. His channeled strike kills in one hit most of the time, so unless you bring something like Shelter - good luck. He also uses Ancestors Rage which hits everyone adjacent to him for about 250-300. Tough cookie

Ele bosses with air skills are über.

There's a kappa ele boss somewhere that made life suck for my warrior. Turtle shell = hardly any dmg from attacks, insane dmg from his... plus, iirc, he rust'd me, which made my heal sig useless. -40 armor for 6 seconds ftw! Took almost fifteen minutes to kill him, he wiped out henches left and right. <.<
jackie
That kappa boss might be the one in middle of Undercity, the one with hex shield drop. Yeah I had some problems with lvl 14 ritualist down there too ^_^...
samifly
Its double attributes, not double damage i think, which sometimes means triple damage. And I like that the bosses are actually, bossy, rather than things to be ignored. And a mesmer can take them down just as quick now, as they used to.
Effendi Westland
That would explain the complaints I read in some other thread about thirsty river. Must be fun in THK also :P

i found a ele boss with fire magic, that killed all my human party...i had a lvl20 monk with 60 armor, and i took 360dmg from a single fireball x'D
zakaria
Even simple mobs they are little bit difficult to kill, if you noticed that jade brotherhood knights spamming cyclone axe and triple chop like their energy is 100,also all ele mobs seems they doesn't get effected by exhaustion from spamming also

Avarre
It's double damage, no more.
A level 28 enemy can deal a 180 meteor/fireball (evidenced by Terrorweb Dryders). Hence Opeth's 360 fireball
Imho, the worst are the bosses with aftershock and that earth aoe kd-if-attacking... the aftershock deals over 500 damage to AL60

360 is triple....i know fireballs normally can deal 120, 360 is 3x more :x
Mister Muhkuh
i was at the elementalist boss in ferndale...
with my assassin(nightstalker armor, while attacking => 85AL)...
he used teinais heat and i got 95 damage a second....
no chance to get away, he killed the whole party only with that skill(except one who got killed by a fireball before -.-)

Higher level mobs have higher level attributes. Level 28s obtain higher main stat levels. Lvl 28 standard fire mobs (dryders) deal 180 damage fireballs. This is the base value for a level 28 elementalist mob.
The boss deals 2x the base 28 level (as the boss is level 28).

Night Daftshadow
The warrior boss at Arborstone. One whack of his hammer and he gives you 180+ damage. Don't remember what skill he uses but that's what I call a hammer to the head. Also, those ele bosses that use silver armor. Especially the one at Tannika Temple. If you're within his range, his silver armor will almost certainly kill you instantly if your monks do not heal you in time. That's if they even get the chance to heal you.

And it does 130 damage/second to 60AL. I wish player ele skills did half of that damage...

Yeah it doesnt seem very balanced does it. I can see another influx of prot monks, and shelter Ritualists.
Kabale
I believe it's not due to higher attributes, more the extra damage higher level chars do to lower lever chars, and that the damage is doubled. The two combined make for some nasty damage.
garethporlest18
Opeth (awesome band listening to them atm) is right. I was clearing Ferndale and that Ele Dredge boss hit my necro with a 360 damage Fireball.
Worst boss= That ele boss in Raisu Palace without any special skills... Oo sweet Silver Armor taking out me and my warrior henchy in 5 seconds!

i have notice that in Cantha is so hard to move with Hechmen i find a group of 2 knits 1 mesmer and 1 spirit and a ele, this is so hard to beat with hechmen i was trying to cap Flesh golem and it took me over 4 Hr playtime just to get to the boss i ended with -60 morale boost and i guess that the hechman were about the same i got kill dozens of times and finally i was able to cap it.
What im trying to say is that if you see trying to move in cantha is so hard i think if you are lower than level 20 its a pain in the --- to play.

Hehe... I'd have to say that the fire/earth Elementalist bosses get my vote for the toughest. I was on my MM in the Archipelagos and ran into that fire ele turtle boss. Mind you, I had 9 fiends and a golem up at the time and a full party of henchies. Within about 3 seconds all the fiends were gone as well as 3 of my henchies. Another 3 seconds everyone but me was dead and I was running away. Then the bosses minions Gale locked me it was over with another 360 dmg blast.

lol...well maybe that will teach casters to stay in the back line. But seriously though, it's nice to see the bosses actually be bosses and not just regular foes with a glow to them. gg anet.

Maybe it's because I'm an old-school RPG'er, but I think it's kinda lame that no matter what I do, my characters will never be anywhere near as powerful as that glowing mutated fish-with-legs boss.

All I know is that with this Interrupting and disrupting has become alot more important, specially with those aoe ele moves, they have one boss back on the monastery for sentimental treasures quest that just blows everyone up.

Has anyone had trouble with Mungri Magicbox in Ferndale? I'm trying to cap Boon Signet off of him with my monk, but I can't kill him. I even hit him with skull crack to daze him, and still couldn't kill him. It wouldn't be so hard if there wasn't another monk dredge following him around.
Anybody have any advice?

The Leviathan in The Deep elite mission hits well into the 400's. Don't forget to wear a cup.
Dr Strangelove
I like it a lot, it makes the bosses a lot more boss-like, where in tyria they were just harder to kill and slightly higher level. 300 damage deathly swarm is.. interesting.
Ginji
I will say this. My guildies and i have noticed a so called "overpowered" bosses too. Specifically the ele bosses, which for some reason, can take down people in a matter of 2 spells. Even though, they eventually go down after rackin' up some dp.

1. he gives off area of effect of -8 heath degen
2. he does around 150 to a monk with 60 armor
3. he has enchantment that makes him attack super fast
4. he DUAL WIELDS AXES
5. you start doing dmg till he cant take any more dmg or degen till you knock him down
6. to beat him you must knock him down 10 times
7. Everytime you knock him down when he is at his DMG limit, he summons 6-10 azure shadow type creatures that do eburn and choas storm
..... beat that

I ran into some blood spiking boss who some how triggered aggro to a ranger boss right next to him. The necro was spamming vamp gaze and stuff doing about 150 each hit and the ranger was spiking barrage for 100+ per hit. Took about 10 seconds for me and the henchies to die we did manage to kill one of the guys surrounding the boss tho.
