Profession Changer in Guild Hall, Change 2nd Profession on "Hero window" [H]

There seems to be most everything you might need in the guild halls now. However as far as I know if you are a pve character you have two options when it comes to switching your secondary profession. One is to go to the profession changer in Senji's Corner. Two is to complete 1 of various quest in the Crystal Desert so that you can talk to a ghost for a switch.

No matter which way you choose if you wish to use your pve characters for pvp (which I like to do so that my exp is not wasted on a pvp character) you are faced with a hassle everytime you need to change your 2nd. You have to leave your party in Heroes Ascent/Guild Hall/Team Arena and go out traveling by boat to Tyria/Cantha then journey to a certain town which will allow to switch by talking to a NPC.

Awhile back I asked that this be added like the rune traders and such where to Heroes Ascent. Then when I heard about NPCs in the guild hall I assumed that a profession changer HAD to be one of them. However I was wrong this profession changer was added to Senji's corner instead? I say WTF!?!?!?!?!?

EDIT by King Symeon:

See post 46 of this thread for summaries of each of the ideas for profession changing and a poll for each.

You are probably not the only one, but I don't think it's a good idea. In the game (Prophesy or Faction) you have to work a little to get to the place where you can change profession. If you had a changer in the guild hall you could just pop in any time, even with a level 1 character. I'd rather see people have to work a little before they can change secondaries.

That can be easily fixed.
Make it so such that only those who ascended and completed the desert quests plus those who paid Senji can change their secondary profession.

I want a profession changer in the guild hall as well.
Please charge a reasonable fee too.

I think they did not add this for the same reason they did add an armor crafter. If they had an armor crafter then anyone could just warp to the GH and but max armro at lvl 1. Same with the profession changer. However, this may also play into the story, like theres only a few ppl with enough skill and experience to change your profession.

The profession changer for guild hall could play by similar rules as the Crystal Desert one: only offer profession switches that character has unlocked (or to pvp only characters). That way, people who have ascended characters are happy, and so are PvPers.

Let me explain further the idea,
Senji over in Cantha only wants money, 500g to be exact, for classes you have not previously unlocked. For instance when I took my ranger to him he only wanted money for /A and /RT as my ranger had not unlocked them yet. He would switch me to any other class (because my ranger has done all the quest in Crystal Desert) but, Senji would not change me to R/A or R/RT until I gave him the gold. A profession changer in the guild hall would act the same way only instead of requiring gold it would require you to have unlocked the class on your character. He would simply say "you have not unlocked this class" if you haven't, or switch you like a ghost or Senji would for free if you had. This way in order to have a pve character that could switch to any class from the guild hall, you would need to 1st reach the same requirements in the game. However this would save you the time when switching from W/E to W/A to W/MO etc while doing pvp on the Battle Isles.

Also since Senji esentially does the same thing already when (he charges you only for those classes you have NOT unlocked) the system is already in place.

Okay .... I can agree to that. Thanks for explaining your idea in more detail.

I've wondered why we got the worthless scroll trader or weapon customizer and not the very commonly used profession changer.

well the idea of changing classes is you have to do the quests for it first so there is no unblance to it just a convience. (hope I spelt that right)

Definatly!! It annoys me to no end that I have to go to some weird outpost to change my secondary instead of just doing it somewhere convenient.

In fact, it would be great if we could just do it straight from the interface (after unlocking the professions by normal means of course)

/signed, after unlocking it via normal gameplay, it would be really nice to have one spot to do it in, and such a convenient one as the guild hall. It would also be very nice to be able to freely change the secondary of a PvP character.

they could make an armor crafter work in the guild halls if they really wanted to. only make the level of armor availible for the area you have made it to on the PVE map. if your fresh out of pre-searing and only in ascalon then you get ascalon level armor when u go to the crafter in the guild hall. if you get run to lions arch and choose to map to the guild hall to buy armor then you get lions arch level armor. if you happen to get run to droks then of course u finally get max armor. the only problem may come if you had made it to one of the 15k crafters. maybe have the crafter ask you to pick between 1.5k or 15k before showing your selection. the only armor you couldnt get would be FOW of course. having an armor crafter in the guild hall would just make things nicer for buying that 2nd set of armor or multiple sets of armor.

If it only allows you to change to professions you have already unlocked, it wont be abused by people from ascalon.

Balance issue is fixed already, lol.
But it'll most likely cost 100k to buy...

As for the armor crafter only allowing the highest you have accessed on the map (other than FoW, as it has no outpost ascociated) that should take care of the balance issue with that.

Yes in the desert you can change back and forth at will. Once you have done the quest of course. All my chars can switch to any 2nd class and I do so often for various builds. I think it a waste of exp to use a pvp only char if I have a pve that can run the build.

Yes agreed at 1st I wanted one in HA when they added the rune trader I thought of it, Then when they added ppl to the guild hall I just new a profession changer was one of them lol. Guess it was overlooked.....

So signed again ^^
