Red items: PvE-only weapons with truly unique mods.

see im trying to avoid that, as soon as you do that the weapons have way to much of an effect on gameplay, i want these weps to work with builds not builds built around these weps, see the difference. as soon as you have to make special builds for these weps they are no longer coll weapons they are required items for a certain type of play, and i dont think anyone wants that. just leave them at req 13 and allow people to use them without you needing them.

However, I really don't want weapons to be too powerful as it would make PVE far too easy. My own suggestion is to go the route that any good pen and paper dungeon master would go. Have a lot more rare single use items. We already have a few things like this (candy canes, experience scrolls) but I propose this be expanded. I would love to see additional scrolls that would have short term affects and the scroll would disappear after use. For example, a scroll of protection from fire - all nearby allies take 1/2 damage from fire based sources for the next 30 seconds or so. Or how about introducing potions into the game. You could have a potion of strength for warriors that would increase their strength attribute by 1 for a set amount of time. The different types of potions could be almost limitless. Obviously none of these items would work in PVP. They won't drastically alter the PVE balance and it gives us PVE players far more interesting things to find. |
I know we can't have something as powerful as wintergreen candy canes or gold eggs dropping on a regular basis, but I love the one-use items. Something like scrolls/potions that give minor elemental boosts or 10 seconds of slow Energy regen would be awesome. Even if they're just silly novelty things similar to the ghosts in the box, snowman summoners, or fireworks, they'd still be welcome in the game because they're FUN. I'd rather pick up a popper and shower a teammate with confetti than run across another collector's item I'll just end up giving to a merchant for ~20g.

if anyone that have played diablo ii they would know that this is a great idea. GW item system is utterly boring and stale. Why? Armors, all the same (Crafted) mods only differentiated by the minor stat changes from runes and insignias. Only weapon/offhand is the only thing that is loot, and they're rehashed a million times by different names. Diablo II endgame was fun & popular for years even though it has far less pve quests than gw, and one of the reason was the extensive amount of loot that actually have a difference beside skin. Even if this is pve only equip, it would help reinvigorate the pve aspect of gw and extend its life somewhat.
Also instead of making them drop from bosses only, make it able to drop from anything and base it off %. And yes certain things should have higher % depending on difficulty etc..
