Guild Hall Skill Trainer.

Personally, I think 100k for the Guild Hall skill trainer is a bit rubbish for the skills offered. For that price I was expecting a Fire Islands style Trader.

Now, if it was like the aforementioned trader that might upset a balance or something silly, or annoy people with the ability to create a character and zone straight to the Guild Hall for your choice of skills.

So, my suggestion.

Make the Trader more dynamic. Make the Skill Trader show all of the individual skills from all of the Traders that that particular character has previously visited, from both Prophecies and Factions.

Thoughts?

What you don't like paying 100k for Core skills that you likely already have, don't want, or could buy anywhere else?

I agree, somthing does need to be done about this...

Let me get this straight, you have 2 PvE warriors? What is the point of that?

Anyhow, I frankly don't mind having to treck around to find my skills. But then again, I have ALL necro skills from Prophecies and so I can buy them anywhere, on any character. As well I have more than half the skills for the other core professions, so any new characters I make can easily buy the skills (once they get to Lion's Arch).

However I am not aware as to what exactly the guild hall skill trainers offer, because my guild hasn't bothered to buy one. But they SHOULD (if they don't already) offer all unlocked skills on your account. I don't see a reason that they should offer anything but core skills for new accounts, otherwise you could just have Factions and then buy Prophecies skills at your guild hall.

Indeed, they need a check to see what games you have; then offer skills. Besides, skill points don't come easy with new chars anyways.

I think most people enjoy the trekking; unless you're getting ready to GvG. That, I believe, was the primary purpose of Guild Hall trainer; get the team together with the right skills!

I have no earthly clue how difficult this would be to code, but... to make the trainer worthwhile, I propose (and I'm sure it's been proposed before):

If a particular character has made it to Ember Light Camp, allow that character to view/purchase all skills in Tyria at the Guild Hall. Same with Canthan skills if that character has finished Factions' storyline. If your character has finished both chapters, show ALL skills for their profession, not just "native" skills.

For all others, have the skill trainers show the skills available to each character, that they WOULD have access to in PvE. For example, if your Tyrian character has not been to Cantha, don't show Canthan skills yet. If they have made it to Maguuma Stade, show all skills available up until Maguuma Stade.

Consider it double signed if guild skill trainers also offer you elites. Another idea would be you pay the skill trainer to add extra skills.

For me my first one was a W/E and my second was a W/mo (this was well before I got to the class change). Also one is a male and the other is a female... but I'm thinking of deleting the first one to make a canthan warrior.

all unlocked skills should be available, from every chapter. Core skills should be there for those who dont have them unlocked.

/signed on the only good suggestion in this thread that it only lists skills from outposts/towns you have already been to with this char (not account).

edit: And possibly unlocked skills, but never ever elites.

Let the skill trainer sell any skills that are unlocked on your Account, but no Elites!

This would make the skill trainer actually have a use in PvE.

Yea one of the things I was trying to say is that all core skills could be available, plus any other skills you have unlocked for your account. But I guess there should be some limit, as some core skills aren't available right away.

Also, elites at a skill trainer? Do you not get the idea of elites? You have to EARN your elite skills, not just buy them.

/signed for giving all unlocked non-elite skills (even though I don't know what the Guild Hall skill trainer has)

I was thinking how great it would be to spend 100k for a skill trainer and than I got one for my guild hall to find it only has base skills.

What would be awesome is to be able to access skills depending on your advancement in the game. For example, if you were to get all the way to amnoon oasis, you would get access to all of the skills from all of the cities with skill trainers you have visited up until then!

This way, 100k is definitely worth it! Same idea in factions too. Basically if you explore the whole game, you get access to every skill from every skill trainer available. That sounds fair right?

Shouldn't he sell any skill that you've unlocked on your acount?
Or is he bugged?

All the skill trainers now (haven't tested the guild hall one...) sell skills that have either been unlocked on another character on that account. So, he, in a way, shuold progress with you as you go through the game : )

you are right that skill trainers everywhere will sell you already unlocked skills for your account. however those skill trainers are all tied to a particular campaign. i'm thinking that the guild hall one only has core skills because it isn't tied to either campaign. you did however get your money's worth because it does say core skills only before you buy it, however sad that might be for 100k. i'd like to see this get implimented, but not at the cost of pulling programmers away from working on the larger issues.

It shouldnt be too hard to install the system and the benefits will be greater with increased pvp and gvg I imagine.

It actually kind of annoyed me how useless the guild hall trainer is. He is indisputably the worst skill trainer in the game.

I don't understand why they don't simply make him show all the skills you have unlocked. After all, if you don't have Prophecies then obviously you haven't unlocked any Prophecies skills. There is no point in restricting it to just the core skills. Then he would be at least a bit more useful. All he's good for not is Signet of Capture.

everything unlocked except for few elites.... 100k on skill trainer in base is a bad idea unless you have spare skill points in your pvp charecters from using them over and over.

My simple suggestion is to make all of the skills you've unlocked on your account (barring elites) on both continents availible to your Guild Hall skill trainer. They might as well drop the other shoe, since you can already do this with skill trainers to a point.

The Guild Hall Trainer already trains you all the skills that you have unlocked for your account.

Currently, if you unlock a prophecies skill, it can be purchased at ANY skill trainer in TYRIA by any new characters you roll. If you unlock a skill in cantha, it can be purchased at ANY skill trainer in CANTHA by any new characters you roll. Unlocked Prophecies skills cannot be purchased by skill trainers in cantha, and unlocked Factions skills cannot be purchased by skill trainers in tyria. My suggestion, was simply to make the skill trainer in the guild hall have all of the skills unlocked in Prophecies and Factions listed to purchase. As it stands currently you can only purchase CORE skills from the guild hall skill trainer, and is next to worthless, because you can purchase all of the CORE skills from either tyria or cantha. Granted, it only requires a few more clicks to warp to Lion's Arch and buy skills there... but really, it's not that much of a stretch to make this currently worthless guild hall upgrade much much much better.
