Who cares about chapter 3.........
toon-a-loon
What is the point of caring for new skills, new armor, new monster, new land. Seriously, I would care all about that but I can't when people in groups get err 7 and can't rejoin because anet is to busy for chapter 3. They need to get the rejoin fuction in first. Guild wars was kinda fine when no new chapters were being made, because they added more stuff in. Observer mode, umm can't think of anymore really. I'm also tired of them saying stuff will come "soon" keyword soon. Quit using the word soon. 4 months isnt soon...

to be honest I bet they are going to release next updates till the new chapter... maybe new chapter only bonuses..
they got to keep us hooked you know.

What is the point of this post? It sounds like you're griping because of err 7's. Err 7 is the infamous "lost connection" error. It can NOT be fixed on Anet's side. It is a problem with YOUR connection. Double check your firewall and router, making sure GW and it's ports are unblocked. If you have dial-up, you have no one to blame but yourself. New stuff will come when it comes. They DID just release Factions you know. The last update was 5 days ago, hardly an eternity. Get over yourself.

I care about Chapter 3. A lot.
LordMahal
Them getting 3 out is just about making money. Them doing updates to current games is about taking care of the players... You can see which takes priority.
KamikazeChicken
1. Guild Wars PvE was never intended to hold a person's intrest indefinitely. PvP is supposed to be the true "end game" content, so try doing that, if PvE is becoming tiresome.
2. Err7 has been a problem, since the game was first released. They're working on reconnects, and I'm sure they'll be added as soon as Anet figures out how to do it because they realize most err7 are problems on their end.
3. It's not taking longer because there's less people working to maintain the game; there were two teams throughout most of the life of Prophecies. 1 team maintains the current chapter, and the other creates the next.

1) Anet has bad servers that constantly go down causing err 7. This means massive numbers of people would experience the errors at the same time, and that all people would have equal likelyhood for err 7.
2) Many people have crappy connections that causes them to drop from time to time. These same people do not understand how the network works, nor how to fix their own connection. They blame their problem on Anet, and whine about how Anet refuses to fix it. Their ire grows when Anet doesn't fix it (surprise) since they don't want to come to your house and fix your computer.
Having seen no evidence for 1), I'm going to have to go with 2) for now. I haven't had a single err 7 in a couple months, since I fixed my antivirus. In addition, I haven't seen big groups of people drop at the same time with the exception of the rollback.

3) It had nothing to do with Arenanets servers or the players connection, just a problem in the middle.

Who said they were not putting out updates? I made that statement and left the choice of which takes priority up to you. And not all updates are critical to the game. Updating simple things that do not effect gameplay can wait. Sometimes I think they just toss updates out there so it appears as though they are interested. Not to mention, with each update comes a new problem. But I wont go into that.

Right right... these problems with mass Code007s or Err7s are nothing to do with Anet. Thats why last week when i logged back on after 1 half of ToA had just been kicked out at the exact same time.
Tbh i don't much care about Chapter 3 yet, i'm getting Chapter 2 sometime this week so i'll be playing that for a while. Aslong as they add new things like Sorrows Furnace, i don't much care.

I think things like new professions, should be made available to all chapters. But that's just me really. If more and more professions keep getting added, and hardly any new content, I think I'll put off buying new chapters. To me, each chapter should be focused more on content, and not new professions. Keeps games from dying out quickly imo.
LordMahal
Would help if they linked chapters a bit more... I was upset that we still have not fought the Charr invasion off yet. Poor ascalon.

Even I, Master Togo looks forward to Chapter 3. Even here beyond the Mists.
I hope that Chapter 3 has more cotent then Chapter 2 did however.

Of course it wont have more content, its an expansion, not a standalone!.. since when does an expansion have MORE content than a standalone.
I do care about chapter 3 because it keeps things fresh and interesting.. and as factions didnt have as much content (or at least thats what the perception is) then Chapter 3 will be very interesting.
As for the gripes about added functions and features.. well, I secretly expect us to have some huge update in about a month or two, they hinted alot of the new features would be inbetween factions and chapter 3.. so thats 3 months.. we are only a month into factions.
As for error7...
Why the hell is it that I NEVER get this??.. People who suffer from lag and error 7's seem to be people who dont maintain their computers at all..
Everyweek I do full de-frag, spybot scan, virus check, clear up space, check for updated drivers for everything..
it cant be just coincidence that people I know who look after their computers never get error 7's.
LordMahal
We are only a month into factions? Didnt it come out the end of april or earlier? And this is now the 14th of june? OMG you said its an expansion. You might get flamed for that. I also never get error 7, and I dont do anything to upkeep my PC.
SAQ
Anet explained this, it's their server host which are causing the loss packets and apparently they can't do anything about it, since their server is providing the service within legal agreement still.
devils wraths
to me it hasnt bothered me about err 7 because ive never had one but im looking forward to new chapters very much.

It will be an expansion because they said that after factions they will be back on track with their original plan...
Quote from an interview:
"GB: Your website states that there will be no monthly charge to North American players. How do you plan on continually updating the game with new content without having a steady stream of income?
ArenaNet: We founded this company to create online role playing games, and we’ve designed Guild Wars around network technology that is very efficient in terms of bandwidth and hardware utilization. In addition to lower operating cost, we believe that we can sell a lot more copies of Guild Wars by not charging a monthly fee. We believe that not charging monthly fees allows larger communities of gamers to enjoy the online role playing game experience. The money earned from game sales will be turned right back to support the game and to develop the expansions. And because we will keep developing expansion packs for Guild Wars, we are highly motivated to keep our customers happy and keep them coming back for more. If they like what they’ve experienced, they will want to buy an expansion pack when it comes along. "

Compelte Game = No other software required (buy it and play)
Expansion = Has a pre-req of another game software (need something else for it to install on)
So Factions to me, is a Complete Game. Now as an owner of the 1st one, it expands on my experience.
Zorian Direspell
I care about Chapter 3. Factions wasn't very good to Elementalist primaries (there are some notable exceptions). I hope that the skills are better in Chapter 3. Thus, I care.

Hats off to you if your rambling about E-7s, I myself am pissed off.

problem with adding in reconnects. they need to test the crap out of the system so it wont be exploitable.
things like removing DP by reconnecting, avoiding a death. instant respawn (don't have to wait for 2 minutes). instant energy (use an entire elementalist energy pool and instantly get it back...

Only new missions in new campaigns. So as it stands, Prophecies has about all the content it will ever have? I could deal with that. I like how you highlighted the word expansion, snowman... in case I missed it

all chapters get Holiday content and game engine upgrades (such as future improvements to trade/storage)
but otherwise, there will be no more missions added to Prophecies or Factions

tbh I couldnt care about c3, Im just enjoying the PvP. But if your playing this game just for pve and content than maybe guild wars isnt the game for u.... but thats just my opinion.
I use to always get err7 when I had adsl, but since ive moved to cable I havnt had a problem.... not once has an error7 come up

I bet if they do have new professions, they will not add any character slots. They will say "you can buy character slots now, why should we provide them?"

There is so much misinformation in this thread that I won't even bother to comment on it all.
Just...wow... how do you people get this "info"? Some guy in Ascalon shouting?

Just my thoughts...
Factions, stand-alone or expansion?
When you're buying GW:Factions, you're also buying the core game. If you don't have GW:Prophecies, GW:Factions IS a stand-alone game (obviously).
If you already have GW:Prophecies, GW:Factions will feel like an expansion because you already have half of the content. It's exactly the same for people who buy GW:Factions BEFORE GW:Prophecies. GW:Prophecies is going to feel like an expansion to them, too. So, you see... The only real point of controversy is if you feel it's fair to be charged for the core content more than once. But let's face it, Guildwars is excellent value for money anyway. Just think of the er... "core-fee" as a subtle -and importantly, optional- P2P charge.
Edit: I've only ever had one actual err=7, and everyone (at least in kaineng) had also experienced it at the same time. Now that I think about it, I've rarely suffered any lag that everyone else I'm with didn't feel, too.

Lots of times I get GW hanging on me and then get the evil James Bond error while I perfectly have a steady connection and can surf the internet.
