A good idea would be to have customizable guild hierarchy like: Leader, steward, member, initiate. All of Which would be editable, just like in World Of Warcraft. This would be a more exciting experience for guilds as a whole. World Of warcraft has an awesome guild rank system which i think would really imporve Guild Wars.

It would also be a good idea to set permissions for each of these groups "can access guild hall?" or "can use guild chat". This would prove a good way of punishing a bad member, and help keep them in line. It would also help for certain officers that you might not trust with a kick permisssion, one of the worst fears is having your guild kicked out by an officer.

I can not sign this ^^

I would like there were more options for a guild's management: like more information about members in the guild panel (like in WoW), more in-game means of information for a guild (say a guild hall's board) and about a guild (say a player's information board about guilds), and more options for player to player, player to guild and guild to player communication and relation (say off-line messaging, guild join request feature, social channel).

I would like less hierachy and less militaristic guilds and more shared leadership, cooperation and competitive thinking (say not like WoW which is a way too militaristic); say more like a community of heroes.

From the beginning of the game when my Guild was created I wanted something like this. The only problem I see with it already exists; those who Guild hop until someone lets them be an Officer.

i think a little more heirarchy might be nice, it may even encourage people to stick with their guilds if they have to work there way up the system.. but it does place more burden on officers\leaders to ensure ranking is fair, and actually achieved.. id hate to be stuck at at "guild peasent" just cos I had a lazy leader\officer (BTW not saying my leader is lazy!!!)

a great idea which i cant decide to sign or not sign. You should only recrtuit members you know you can trust if you want a solid guild and which case you give everyone a chance to speak it can improve your guild instead of limiting the guilds peasants which make up 80% of your guilds speaknig rights. A Hierarchy would be fun and has much potential and has a bunch of flaws with in it. I say chance it in a beta and see how it works, i fun idea

I want to be the crazy wizard/wizardess that reports directly to the leader and fills his mind with terrible thoughts!

The current Guild hierachy system is awful, any improvment would be a good improvement.

Ooh so how about having an option when starting your guild to make it a democracy or dictatorship or oligarchy type setup? hmm you have caught me onto something.

I think this would be a good idea. I've seen some members within a guild who have been with the guild for quite some time(months) but are still titled as regular members. That's just a shame. A title like "Senior Member" would be nice or something similar.

Anyone else think we could use a more informative guild management system? For example: We should be able to have PVE / PVP officers / members categories in guild list. Basically, more categories than just leader, officer, member.

Kind of like how you can assign channels in TS / Ven, it would be nice if you can name your own categories and set privaledges in each one.

Maybe its been brought up before, but I like this idea. Customizing your own sounds the best..just as long as you don't end up with stupid/inappropriate ones. Hopefully the guild leader and/or officers would be more mature and that wouldn't happen..

I've always thought of this as a cool idea, but it was always taken care of outside of the game for most of the good guilds that I have been in (IE the forums)

uhmm my response after laughing so hard i fell out of my chair is...get a life.
in guilds you should just recruit 10-20 friends and a few other good players you see...Good players are trustworthy and bad players are not...and the only reason you would want a guild is if you PvP and play 24/7! lol!!! playing Guild Wars 24/7!!! i'd rather watch the grass grow!

Well, one pretty good idea to increase the depth of the guild system could be:

The original founder of the guild detirmines its policy. By that i mean: Democoacy (where members vote on things, restricting the leaders powers yet keeping members happier and giving them more freedom), Dictatorship (Where the leader gets the final say, whatever happens, not neccessarily bad depending on the leader), Monarchy (Leader follows some sort of Parliament or Senate and picks an official "Next in line" who automatically inherits the guild, the leader can;t change this once he has chosen). These are jsut ideas, and i think that the foundes should be-able to create their own "policies".

Of course, the actual rank system would still be implemented in with this and fully customizable by the leader.

These are all ideas and stuff, i'm not saying that's how it should be, although in my mind the leader of a guild should have complete customization over his/her guild, wether they decide to have parliament/senate/council/whatever is up to them.

By the way, thanks for the positive feedback

NOTE: Dictatorships ain't too bad you know, depends on the leader so don't all argue against me and say i'm evil :P

Refering to an addition to the roster in game... Some times a member will suggest a player who they feel would be a good prospect..Leaders have only two options..member or officer. It would be less stressful to be able to bring a prospect on board, "to prove him/herself", under a catagory like "prospect". This would keep members from feeling that leadership is ignoring or not addressing their suggestion. Often times you would like to bring a player in but not give them all the privilages that a proven member has earned. A "prospect/initiate" catagory in the guild ingame roster would give the member and the prospective player both a feeling that the guild cares enough to include them for a trial membership. Members would then be able to make an informed vote on the bahavior of that player within the guild. It would also give that player a goal, to elevate their status in the guild by climbing the ladder. It is difficult to explain to a member that has made a suggestion of a new member that it has otherwise been impossible to get ahold of that member for a chat, when you consider time differences, and all. Also it would be easier than having to pay gold each time you wanted that prospect to play with your guild. Of course you would pay for a guest, say, from another guild. So a prospect would have to come capeless. I think I have said enough.

The guild roster definately needs help. perhaps slots for recruiters in addition to officers, i would also like to see the guild have its own storage or bank account seperate from the actual characters in the guild. I think the power to kick should only be held by the guild leader. I don't think an officer should be able to promote some one else to officer, but should however be able to promote to ....say recruiter!!! I also think it would be nice to be able to see who is online in your alliance without having to book mark them all as friends.

I would also like to see a place to post the guilds website perhaps with a way to click it and open it outside or inside game. Last but not least i think the message box is way too small for guild messages, and we should have one for alliances.

The current guild lead/officer doesn't really work. There's a lot of room for improvement.

i agree but see if the person is invited in to the guild the guild leader should get a message or some sorta warning bout the player stats as officer/leader
if the person was a officer or guild leader in the past.

and i've seen guilds grow and fall
one day i went offline status while afk online. and one of the officers kicked out intire guild of 50 poeple. he tired to kick me out but for some reason it wouldnt happen. but i waited for a while then he left the guild after every single person was gone but me and the leader. then i left.

but this was beginging of factions came out. feels like a long time ago.

/signed id love an expansion to the guild ranks, like customary titles. Perhaps the ability to display your guild position as a Title too. Eg. Guild Leader of [DSG], or for a new custom one - Guild Champion of [DSG]

To be fair other than adding in the few new features for Halls, Anet hasnt really done much to expand on the Guild side of Guild Wars.
