Are we talking skins or type's?

For skins: Mursaat, Storm, Zodiac, Celestial

For type, well I'm a big recurve fan for allround bowing (new word!).

Another recurve fan here (along with other skins using recurve stats), but I always carry a longbow no matter what char I'm using during PvE for luring.

That is a guild to them, for example a Storm Bow is nothing more but a fancy skinned Longbow, they have the same stats and speed.

My fav Bow is my primary ingame bow for PvE and PvP. My Gold Half Moon Bow.

For PvE, Flatbow is the best to use. It has the fastest fire rate and longest range. However, because of in PvE, monterst just stand there and rarely move, the accuracy isn't important and can be improved by read the wind/FW.

For PvP, Recurve Bow is the best to use. Accuracy is the key, and all other stats are average but good enough to use.

Well, others bows are used too. People use all kinds of bows anyway.

All bows have different uses, most people dont understand that, infact most rangers dont even know theres a difference between bow types and choose bows by skin.

For PvE i like the longbow for range and low arc, for interrupts i take recurve or horn depending on the prep im using, even something like a flatbow for choking gas.
I always use a recurve for anything oathshot related.

The only bow type which ive never cared for is shortbow, may aswel be classed as a melee weapon the range is so poor.

good to see someone that uses more than 2 bows, just because they look better. For pve AND pvp i swap between flat, long and recurve bows; i have a halfmoon laying around that i don't really use but it's good for choking gas builds. Never cared at all for hornbows or composite bows, too slow and not enough range to warrant it - shortbows suck pretty bad too.

I carry a Hornbow, Flatbow, Recurve bow and shortbow

Hornbow for the Armour penetrating.
Flatbow for pulling or to avoid obstruction (range is the same as a longbow and this one has better stats then any longbow I've found)
Recurve bow for general use (interupting mainly)
Shortbow when all else failed and the enemy has mistaken me for a tank.

For ranger spike, hornbow (plus longbow situationally) - damage is the key and 10% AP is extra damage. For PvP in general, recurve bow because of accuracy. You don't want to miss your oath and crip shots.

For PvE, I also prefer a recurve, but a longbow is useful for pulling. I don't have a flatbow because I don't like those and don't have a shortbow yet, but might get one eventually. My ranger is only a couple weeks old and I'm planning to buy some more stuff.

For skins, I have an amber longbow, a shadow bow (horn) and an eternal bow (recurve). I wanted a mursaat hornbow, but a perfect one is expensive as hell. So I'll probably keep my shadow bow for PvP and pick up a 13>50, or some other cheap mursaat horn for pve.

I've always liked the flat bow. The range of the long bow, the refire rate of the shortbow. Only downfall is the long flight time, but if you're a barrager using Fav Winds that doesn't matter much.

I like my Drago's, especially now that it's been upgraded... that bow is huge!

I carry a wide assortment of long and short bows. Longbows of course for the range, and shortbows for when the enemy gets any closer than the aggro circle.

I think Flatbows, hornbows and shortbows are most popular in "use".

Skinwise, Stormbows, Celestial Bows, Platinum Bows, and Zodiac bows are really getting up there. I think all the hornbow variants and Halfmoon are popular skins.
I dont know how popular the other new bowskins are. To me, the Ironwing, Naga, Amber/Jade bows are kinda meh..

My setup:
Elswyth Recurve or my gold Poisonous Recurve Bow
Elswyth Longbow
Drago's Vampiric Flatbow
Trapping staff.

I have 3 hornbows but i rarely use them, the refire rate just doesnt work for me. i much prefer the speed of the recurve bow. But then again from my bows, you can tell im not a spiker.

I was a longbow fan for all of proph, but I went to shortbow in factions to make better use of the dazed condition. Since then it feels incredibly weird to use anything but a shortbow.

However I carry 9 bows and 2 staffs at all times so I can do whatever

Weapons I use the most:
1) Shortbow (collector 15>50, with mods) - most often held until the fighting starts, then I usually switch to #2
2) Elswyth's Recurve (vampiric) - barrage, general use
3) Poisoner's Longbow - pulling & poisoning
4) insightful staff (trapping)

Others rarely/never used:
1) Zealous Flatbow
2) Icy Composite Bow
3) candy cane bow

Drago Flatbow is great for pulling aggro and attacking from long range.
My Gold Composite Bow is what i use half the time to attack enemies.
Storm bow/Shadow bow, which i use to interrupt things.

IMO, Recurve is the only way to go, in exception for a horn for spike damage or a long for when something is juuuuuust out of range, but, playing a Crip Ranger in GvG for who knows how long back when they still worked... that accuracy is clutch... But.. for PvE... build your own bow. All greens bows are trash (With exception of Brrne's Recurve for use as a Crip Shot ranger only)

Order of the Migrating Coconuts [ALBA]

Lili uses the long bow almost exclusively. She has a bramble short bow equipped for close-in, but the long bow lets her take out the casters without mixing with the warriors.

Poison bows, for the most part, but also equipped are a fire and an ice bow.

The bow she uses most now is a Celestial with +5 energy. The added energy plus very high Expertise means she seldom runs dry using skills .

I like the halfmoon/short and for distance flatbows.. they just have the best refire rates = more dps- arc can always be dealt with so the most damage over time is better for any build imo (the ap on horns does'nt stack up with preps too unless your using barrage then that bow is ideal).. for cripshot recurve bow because your not going to be bringing fw or read.. I never use longbows.. don't see the point really when you have a flat that does the same distance with a better refire rate.. the arc issue is dealt with in fw and your not going to be using the longbows to interupt anyway

I like to use eternal, storm and shadow bows myself, but the moment i find a mursaat that i like ill def be using that. Imho, the faction skins and kinda a let down for me (except that urgoz(?) longbow skin, that thing is sick).

I tend to use Elswyths recurve and longbow along with a with a 15>50 collectors shortbow for general use. I also have a couple of specialised bows, my undead f****r is a customised 15>50 firey longbow with a 20% deathbane grip and I have a similar bow with a dwarfslaying grip.

Gold perfect shocking flatbow of fortitude.
I have a dozen other bows, but the only three that see any use is the above, a gold perfect 5:1 vampiric half moon of defence, and Stinger. And I use the flatbow probably 95% of the time.
The flatbow has high arc, yes, but surely noone just stand around pumping arrows without using damage boosters like tigers fury, read the wind and favorable winds?
Recurve/compounds have so low refire rate one might as well use a hammer.

Mursaat hornbow, has always been very popular, dead bow, a recurve bow as well, but that was more for the rarity of finding a gold 15^50 with max dmg and a low req which drove the price up on them so much. My favourite bow, least, most commonly used bow, is a flatbow, and ever since the urgoz flat dropped for me, I've been using that since I'm partial to the skin over any other flat skin.

Requirement Begins With R [notQ]

Dragon skin Hornbows (combined with speed modifiers).

They look plausible and deal good damage. Medium range and medium accuracy so its the happy medium of a short and long bow i suppose.

my ranger has a 5/1 vamp mursaat horn bow for pvp
sundering long bow for pvp
and sundering recurve bow for pve

both pvp bows are used in pve (the vamp is mostly just a barrage build)
