In the spirit of celebration, adventurers on the continent of Cantha are cordially invited to the Dragon Festival, a summer festival with all the trimmings!

After the destruction wrought by the Jade Wind, the newly crowned Emperor Hanjai (the eldest son of the assassinated emperor) oversaw the settlement of Shing Jea Island and the expansion of Kaineng City. The following summer, Emperor Hanjai dedicated a new Dragon Festival to commemorate the survival of the Empire of the Dragon.

Participants in the Dragon Festival can join in fun carnival-type games (Whack-A-Worm, anyone?), play new mini-missions and special PvP gameplay, undertake unique quests, and collect Asian-flavored treats such as red bean cakes and rice wine. Ceremonial Dragon Masks will be awarded to those players who are able to collect enough globes filled with the Jade Wind essence that changed Cantha two hundred year ago. The conclusion of the Dragon Festival will be marked with surprises true Canthans won't want to miss.

Taking place in and around the Shing Jea Monastery on June 30, 2006 at 7:00 GMT and running through July 5, 2006 at 7:00 GMT, the Dragon Festival is an exclusive weekend event for Guild Wars Factions players.

red bean cakes = candy canes? heh i hope so just to spit the people farming char carvings hehe. Still pretty sweet.. another helm to add to my collection since I only have one tengu mask... wonder if we'll be able to pick the color.

of course, a.net does something new.. people complain. in any event I looked at gw.com and my guess is that you'll be able to dye the masks if they do in fact come in different colors like it shows on their site.

It'd better not be one of those timed events they always have, I hated the Tengu event since I never got the chance to be there when the guy came. Oh noes again - you have to collect things to get these masks?!

I wish they'd just make a permenant thing for events, meaning a guy just stayed there constantly (didn't disappear and come back later) where you received your "reward" by answering a few simple questions.

Shame.

I believe A-net has mentioned that many events like the chirstmas event will be system wide, as in all of the games, it makes sense though that they throw in a few good events exclusive to the new game though, in order to make the new games appealing. I don't think we need to worry about all the new events being available only to the latest game though, A-net knows full well that it's fans would be royally pissed by that. I have more faith than that
