It has been planned I remember Gaile talking about an event few months back. Special events always last a week a lot like Halloween and Wintersday.

hey fist good point, methinks it would be nice if we could have an item that removes DP without having to be an event item especially for things like deep runs, FoW,UW,Urgoz etc. but I really am happy with the way things are. Also Wildi, quit yer whining, be happy you even get the event.

EEE its JER!! hey as soon as I get back on GW (ondial up at my grandparents right now not GW working) Ill say hi. BTW more on-topic, anyone here think that the end day event of this might just be a fight? I think this might lead into the factions style of sorrows furnace, just speculation and besides the last couple important festivities got ruined by someone so why not this time lol. Just thinking.

Tyria has never had a summer celebration, Cantha, has really never had a celebration. I think this is just a fun celebration, letting Canthans get a taste of some of our Tyrian celebrations.

Lovely! I've only been playing GW for a few months now, so this will be the first event for me

Can't wait to see what it will be like. Also happy about it being announced!

Now if only I can figure out how to get my Tyria chars to the Monastery...

I'm sure they won't entirely snuff out everyone who didn't buy Factions in the future. Afterall they did let new green drops in Prophecies. Its *something.*

Something just hit me, that event at the end of the festival will be the opening up of cantha's "sorrows furnace" and I have a VERY good idea where it will be at, if you look at cantha's map there is a large space of the city below Nahpui Quarters that you can't explore aqnd even below that is a semi remote island, boat from Shing Jea anyone?

Interesting speculation. Sorrow's Furnace was used as a "breath of fresh air" for Guild Wars once PvE was pretty much dead there outside of the Underworld and Fissure of Woe missions. I agree with you that this eventually will happen to Factions (and then we just might have your Factions Sorrow's Furnace), but as of right now there seems to still be quite a bit of activity in the PvE areas.

Short version: Probably not yet.

I would be shocked if there was any sort of update other than the festival.. that's enough in my opinion. They'd have to change a lot with the addition of a new area... explorer title creating a gate just too much to add in one update on top of the event.. I'd say.

HOWEVER I hope when they do they add a new area on the island that has a little bit of everything land/forest/city all compacted together.. that would be fun.
