Pets Deleted in Dragon Arena

Someone in my alliance noted that when he brought charm animal into the arena, his pet was deleted. I just saw someone else in the Monastery complaining of the same thing. I haven't confirmed this, just thought you should be aware.

Hmm, I did by accident now he wont show up any where. It was a black moa and Im gonna be real ticked if this cant be fixed.

It's completely true that pets are being deleted. So stay out of the arena while playing Ranger!

you can still play a ranger just not a beastmaster.

As long as Charm is OFF your car when you enter, it's safe, right?

I was pretty excited about this event. Notice that I said "WAS" Please also notice my username B/P_Ranger... means I am a B/P ranger.

My pet that I have had with me since forever, is now gone, because I was eager to participate in all the fun and games, even the pvp area (I'm strictly pve) With no warning that I was about to permantly loose my pet. NONE.

No warning that skills would be changed, nothing.
To say I am upset is a understatement.

And how does Guildwars say? What does ANET say?

Too bad so sad....I cant believe that a software/gaming company as large as the one that has created this game, didnt do test run, didn't get all possible aspects before uploading to the general playing public.

I have been patient with Factions, but after this, I really could care less anymore. I wont be purchasing the next installment of this. Don't have much energy for the game at this point.

What I really want, other than my pet back, is a apology from ANET, and The all wonderful Gaile. Doubt I will see that here either.

B/P_Ranger, it's all in your perception.

It will not take you long to re-charm and re-level your pet back to his or her former glory.

What's stopping you is that you have invested emotional interest in the cluster of data called your pet.

Quite the same way I feel about not charming another pet because the stalker was the first and stayed with me all through my weeks of pre-searing.

It sucks, but it's hardly worth raising an uproar over.

I bet that this is gonna be fixed tomorrow. That is a major bug and there is no putting that off for a year since the thing is so short.

Empathy is akin to 'putting yourself in the shoes of the other person'. I didn't do Nente's 'stalker' quest in post-searing because I didn't want to get rid of my pet.

Compassion... my compassion is having read his post and taken my time to give a response, instead of just glancing through it and moving it on. I choose to open his eyes to the heart of the issue and not dwell on trying to make him feel better by joining the bandwagon.

The reason it sucks and is frustrating and such is because YOU have assigned emotional value to a cluster of data that is easily replaceable.

Yes...as we all know, no reputable software company has ever released a product (or subsequent patches) with any sorts of bugs in it. ANet must be horribly ashamed to be the first. FOR SHAME!

Secondly, unless Gaile personally deleted your pet (or even had any role in writing the code for the event [hint: she didn't]) I don't think she owes you an apology. She's not your whipping boy...

We are very sorry for the deletion of the pets during the few minutes -- yes minutes -- that that bug existed. I reported it to Mike O'Brien on a phone call about another issue, and before I could blink an eye, he had confimed it, and the programmers had checked in and rolled out a fix.

As a Ranger myself, I know that's a real "ouch" and I personally feel your pain. But as a Ranger, I know that the leveling process is very rapid, and I encourage you to not despair but to charm a new pet and have him/her at your side, in fighting form, in a short while.

Again, we're very sorry about those pet losses.

Restoration would prolly mean a rollback which I doubt they are willing to do just for some pets.

When I first heard about this, I made a mad dash online to see if I had lost my easily replacable Dire Lynx, and found her waiting for me. Ok, crissis over for me.

But, what about pets that are not so easily replaced? It's not every day you come across a Black Widow spider. And what of pets that are simply impossible to replace? I mean all the pets that are UNIQUE to PreSearing Ascalon (Wolves, Striders, and Moss Spiders). If those were lost, you can't just "get another one", because they're no longer available to that character.

I'd be devistated if some random bug took away something as special as that. ._.

I do know that leveling is very easy, thats not the point. My husband will gladly go with me to level a new pet. Not something I wanted to have to do since my gaming time is limited. But so I must.

I sure hope that next time, maybe things are beta'd a bit longer.

For a while I was wondering whether I should ditch my Arachnid for a Phoenix or Black Moa.. Now that I've experienced the "pleasures" of the dragon arena, I know that i'll have the fine choice of one of the other two as Im not going to shell out ANOTHER 30k on another spider...
One of my guildies had a grand suggestion though, put in a special dragon hatchling pet as a charmable for the duration for the event. That way at least there is some uniquness out of the situation. Either way at least we know you were made aware.

Glad to hear it was fixed quickly, and even more glad that my phoenix was only level 8 when I gleefully jumped to get into the first dragon arena battle I could.

so if you lose your pet wenn you go to pvp how so that you see peeps in pvp with thous funky pets
like white tiger/moa bird etc
