http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Seitung..._%28Mission%29, you didn't add Seitung Harbor to the guide. BTW, for new mission Tsumei Village, you list the date as 3/07/006 which was like a month ago. Also Nice guide.

GWPenguin, our European friends list out the day first and then the month And thanks Hypernecrofear, updated. Getting to the other mission now.

The damage is the same no matter what your level is or armour is. For example those players who go in with no armour on at all. Makes absolutely no difference at all what you are wearing. Damage is always the same.
Although i think the Event's Team (3rd team @ anet) need to take alook at the descriptions and some of the effects. Imperial Majesty deals 80dmg not 50 as described.
And I can't quite figure out why sometimes the damage dealt with Dragon Blast isn't always 1000. Sometimes it's reduced by 5 maybe 10.If all armour and stuff are the same for every character... surely that shouldn't happen?

GMT (UTC is the current name) is the zero point, PDT (washington time zone) is -7 hours off. Below this site on each forum page is the GMT conversion and if you have your zone correct (on the users page for members), it will display exactly how far off GMT you are. Just check out the bottom of the page! As the sun comes up in the east everyday and Greenwich is the imaginary point it starts, heading west the time goes up.....
EDT-4 Eastern
CDT-5 Central
MDT-6 Mountain
PDT-7 Pacific
Hawaiian -8
The "D" is for "Daylight"-savings which a few random areas dont observe (like most of Indiana), so if you don't fall-back (fall) or leap-forward (spring) every year you would be under the standard time, +1 to the hours above. Just subtract from GMT for your zone, that simple.

Nice Lothian, glad to have you.
And can we get screenshot confirmation of the Unlucky titles for Cursed and Hated. As well as a screenshot confirmation for the Lucky title Loved.

A couple of thoughts...
i would tend to believe that you SHOULD get more bang for your buck with the orbs. Although i have no way to confirm that there is anything but the mask exchange yet, given that these fairly tough mission offer orbs, one would think that when it comes time to trade in the orbs there will be more variety of options.
Personally, i think these missions are a bit hard for the average players and offer really no motivation (other then the challenge) to complete. i've done it three times so far and though they are pretty fun for the challenge, the outcome seems less then spectacular. IMHO of course...

You can get to the Dragon Arena from the Great Temple of Balthazar too. Captain Li Sah is in the middle of the circle in the Temple.

You can find out which time zone you are in by double-clicking the clock in the lower right of your Windows taskbar. Select the time zone tab and you'll see.
eg.1 if you are in the GMT-7:00 zone then you are 7 hours behind the time posted and are therefore going to be able to get your mask at midnight, July 5th in your area instead of waiting until 7am like the european community.
eg.2 if you are in the GMT-5:00 zone then you are 5 hours behind the time posted and are therefore going to be able to get your mask at 2am, July 5th in your area.
eg.3 if you are in the GMT-9:00 zone then you are 9 hours behind the time posted and are therefore going to be able to get your mask at 10pm, July 4th in your area.
eg.4 if you are in the GMT+6:00 zone then you are 6 hours ahead of the time posted and are therefore going to have to wait to get your mask until 1pm, July 5th in your area.
Please note that you can get your mask during the days following the festival as well so there is no rush. Just be sure not to forget!
I hope this helps you guys!

And one more gear shift...
I promise, this one's useful. I was helping a friend quest near Shing Jea Monastery, and we discovered another festival bug: If you have "The Rampaging Yetis" quest while you attempt to do "The Yeti Hunt" quest for the ranger profession, the Wild Yeti fails to appear. Zho will just stand there telling you to the Yeti is close. This is easily fixed by completing The Rampaging Yetis, returning to Imperial Guard Honso, and collecting your reward. You can then return to Zho, and the Wild Yeti will spawn as normal.
Well, that's got to be the most topics I've addressed in a single post lol. And now that my forum transmission is broken, I must be moving on. Have a nice day!

Okay, this has been really bothering me. Whenever someone asks the question, "What is the last day of the festival," or "When can we get masks?" people always respond, "July 5."
It seems like there's a LOT of misinformation going around, and a lot of that has to do with the confusion/laziness with GMT time. People apparently read (and indeed pm me when I correct them) that the website says July 5, so it ends on the day of July 5, and as if the Emperor will show up on the daytime of July 5.
(Again, of course the site reads 7:00 GMT July 5).
People apparently don't even think about converting GMT time to Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern Standard time. I mean seriously, FFS, what do they think those three letters next to the time means?
To be clear: 7:00 GMT translates to:
JULY 5 12:00AM Pacific (Meaning it just turned midnight from the night of July 4)
JULY 5 1:00AM Mountain
JULY 5 2:00AM Central
JULY 5 3:00AM Eastern
Thus, for players in the U.S., and for all practical purposes, July 4 is the last day and the event wraps up in the morning hours of July 5 (depending on time zone). The event does not go onto the daytime of July 5!

The special day of the Dragon Festival, with finale events and special visits, starts at Midnight PDT the morning of Tuesday, July 4th. It ends on the final minute (PDT) of that same day, July 4th. Let me give you that information now for GMT: The special day of the event would begin at 07:00 GMT on July 4th, and end at 07:00 on July 5th. (I believe that most of those in European countries add one hour or two to these times, if your country observes some form of "daylight savings" or "summer" time. If you are in the U.S., do not be confused by the July 5th designation and think that the special day is July 5th. For the U.S. it's nearly whollly July 4th, and for west coasters it is wholly July 4th. The collector, who will happily exchange your orbs for a mask, will be present for one week, that is, through Tuesday, July 11th. So you have from the early start of the orb hunting through yesterday's early start of the actual Dragon Festival until the close of the special day (see above) to gather the Jade Wind Orbs. You then have up to a week to exchange them with the collector in Shing Jea Monastery for the dragon mask. I hope that makes everything clear for everyone. Please let me know if you have questions about the times. |
Although I do have to fault Anet for some of the confusion since the original events page simply claimed that the event would go "through July 5th, 2006," and use of the word "through" usually indicates until the end of the day, not just a couple of hours in the early morning, and Anet usually works off of Pacific time, being West-coast based, one would assume the event would continue until midnight on July 5th, PDT. However, I have noticed that they have since changed their website to include the exact times of the event (in reference to GMT). They must have been tired about the questions lol. Little did they know how many people they have playing their game who don't understand time zone codes!
As a last resort fix, for those of you who still can't figure out timezones, or are just too lazy to do the math, try this:
Ten Easy Steps to figuring out GMT*
or
GMT for Dummies
1. Go to your Windows desktop.
2. Right click on the time in the lower right corner (or wherever it may be if you have customized your desktop)
3. Select "Adjust Date/Time"
4. Left click on the tab marked "Time Zone"
5. Assuming your computer has been set up properly, the bar near the top of this page should show your current relation to GMT. It should be simple to use this to do the math to find out what time it is in GMT. For example, if it reads "(GMT-8:00)", then just perform a reverse operation. Add eight hours to your time. Now you have GMT (If the line read "(GMT+8:00)" we would have subtracted eight hours).
6. If you still can't figure it out, left click on the down arrow to the right of your time zone display to open the list of available time zones.
7. Scroll down the list until you see "(GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London"
8. Select this option (left click).
9. Left click "OK"
10. Congratulations! Your computer has now been transferred to GMT! You will no longer have to annoy people asking for time conversions in any online game, ever again! Simply glance at your screen, and voila! It's GMT!
*Legal Disclaimer: The above system only works if your computer's time has already been set to the proper time zone. If you can't figure that part out on your own, you are hoplessly out of luck. Blackbird71 is not responsible for any work, school, blind dates, weddings, funerals, dentist appointments, oil changes, AA meetings, appendectomies, world domination schemes, or other important engagements missed because you forgot that your computer clock was no longer set to your current time zone.

MrTwisted
Just thought I would add a little something and say thanks for great guide
I got factions this week end for the Dragon Festival, I was going to get it anyway but this weekends activities has brought that forward
This guide (and another guide for getting to the Shing Jea Island) has ment that I could cross over from Tyria and get to where I needed to be asap to be a part of it.. yay!
Ok I just wanted to add that I was in group that did the Jaya Bluffs Rifts (the snowy one).
Group was Ranger, Ranger, Warrior and monk. (R,W and the M from our guild)
basically 2 trapers with warrior to deal/take damage and healer (also a few candy canes used along the way lol).
Tbh we got a right good spanking at first but once we got to grips it was ok, but very slow progress (we spent a few hrs at it in all).
I can confirm that once completed the only reward was 50 orbs each, and we were returned to the where we first spoke with the captain (in the Shing Jea Monastery).
When clicking on him again we were taken to Haiju Lagoon Rifts. We didnt try it as it was getting real late.
We had 2 gold drops between us and they were average/nothing great, and that was it. Heck of a lot of work for what felt like very little reward. I didnt see any chest while I was in there at all.
As already posted you can play whack a worm or whatever it is solo (if you are lucky to get in solo) for 11 orbs in something like 5 mins so.
11 orbs in 5 mins V's a few hrs sloggin away for 50, hmmm.... it just dont seem right somehow but its the way it is.
Just thought I would add that...
Great thread btw.. or have I already said that..
*edit* Bah knew there was something else I wanted to add.. its.regarding the AFK ticket players.
I myself have gone afk when playing these games of chance and see nothing wrong with it tbh. When you look at how much time and money has to be put in to get the titles ppl are going to go afk. You cant expect ppl to sit there all that time lol, when I buy a lottery ticket I dont sit in front of my tv for the entire week waiting to see if my numbers come up, I pick my numbers and check back at some point later to see how I have done, its the same thing imo. Those that put the games in place knew ppl would go afk at some point. I for one am happy with the way it is because the chance games are nothing more than a time/money sink, with really little benifit anyhow. Some ppl even think it is stupid, but i'll still waste all my money doing it, why? well just cos I can..

No excuse. Stop being a lazy ignorant American, you're making the rest of us look bad! The world runs on GMT, always has (well, at least since our modern cartography/chronology system was instituted, "always" is a long time). It's just really sad when people demonstrate a lack of a proper elementary school education. |
By the way - Thanks everyone for all the good info posted here. Really helps make the event better for everyone. I cant count how many questions I have been able to answer for people in game by looking here (As well as making my own weekend more fun). Keep up the good work.

I am an American. I am a proud American. I was by no means calling all Americans lazy and ignorant, I was chiding an individual for being lazy and ignorant and by your reference to all Americans only being interested in TV schedules intentionally projecting the image that we are all like you. If you are truly an American, you would have taken much greater offense to your own remarks over mine.
The difference in making a math error and not even knowing what the basis of all world time is? How about the fact that I am perfectly willing to own up to my mistakes and I care enough to make an effort to fix them, while certain individuals couldn't care less about trying to learn something that is a worldwide standard. Yes I do laugh at my own shortcomings, and I did as you even quoted, but if my knowledge or work is lacking, I take steps to correct it.

And that's the end of that... this thread is not meant for a culture debate.
Even I made the mistake of thinking that it was going through the end of July 5th. For the very fact that I know a lot of us won't be around for the end of the event now with it being an american holiday (and a holiday that you celebrate at night). And I don't know too many people who sign on at 6 or 7 in the morning if your in Europe. I have a feeling a lot of us will miss the festivities if they do have anything planned.

The finales will begin at July 4th 7:00 GMT (i.e. 3:00 AM EST, 12 PM PST)
The finale will consist of the Graps kicking Kisu's ass. I'm 99.9% sure.
That's in about 3 hours. Get cracking.
I'll be in Dist 1 if anyone wants to chat.
EDIT: Due to your ranting, the original page now has times in PST. It also confirms the finale time.

5 minutes late is fine. 30 minutes late is not. Anet really needs to start announcing exactly when special events guys are supposed to show up and stick to it. We're (the players) here, so why can't the Emperor be here too?
