Short of doing Underworld and Fissure of Woe, most players just won't have exposure to this endgame kind of content, let alone really get why they're tough to fight.

According to a new entry on wiki there is a new green axe with a unique skin. Can anyone confirm this?

and yes, now theres a new area to be cleansed of the rifts..
In all honesty, apart from judging this event... i must say that the Guild Wars Community can sometimes be downright masochistic. This is basically the only gaming community i know that willingly lowers their own expectations, just because of the lack of a monthly fee.
Arena.net is NOT some kind of charity institution. They're driving a carefully calculated business model there. We don't need to be oh so thankful that they're not having a monthly fee. It is part of their business model and in no way, we should sacrifice our opinion and feedback just to show them our gratitude for not having to pay a monthly fee.
And Arena.net doesn't want us to shut up either. For their business model to work, they will have to accomplish basically two things:
Attract new customers
Keep current customers
And giving out events for "free" is once again not based upon a whim or how much they "love" us, it's part of their business plan to keep players interested in the game. Interested enough to buy the expansions. So please, please don't tell people to stfu just because the game doesn't have a monthly fee. That argument is naught, not functional, busted, worthless.

They weren't advertised on the box, nor were they awaited by the community for months on end through an advertisement and publicity campaign.
Really, this festival was just a small thing thrown together to make the game fun in a way that hasn't really been done before, except on a few key occasions. Being said, once again, the festival is an extra feature added, at no cost to us should we choose not to participate in it.
If we are participating in the festival, well, then good for us. But I don't think that participating in a free event gives us the right to bitch and moan to game developers about how the reward for a completely free and completely voluntary mini-mission is too small when, really, they're just trying to throw an extra twist into their product.
Not to mention... how many times have you beaten really hard things in other games, and received nothing at all? We should start bitching at 3dRealsm for not giving us more levels in their free Prey demo, or a secret weapon or something when we beat the demo, if this how we are to respond to things handed to us for no cost at all.

Anet thinks that people don't kill monsters for the rewards and goes to great lengths in nerving that part of the fun.

By creating this last mini-game, I get the feeling that Anet is mocking my player skill. They don't give shit about the below average player. In fact they simply create more monsters even harder to beat. And when you really persist in killing it, what does it drop? I can't remember that. Last online games I played was Diablo 2 and Dungeon Siege. These games are quite opposite of your point of view. In these games, the bigger the monster you beat, the better the loot. That is what I like most about it. Anet thinks that people don't kill monsters for the rewards and goes to great lengths in nerving that part of the fun. |
2nd you are complaing things are too hard, well im sorry to say, but if the made the game any easier, Id have to stop playing from lack of challange. creating high level content is a good thing, it keeps people playing after they have beaten the game
