Ascalon Rebuilding Effort?

With the Gate system it would be completely possible... After beating the game you have access to these gates let me cook something up real quick. Version #1 "Renewing the Effort" Given from that dude in the Ascalon Settlement (Kryta). Apparently there are a few areas of Ascalon that are being rebuilt (New outposts would be created). Although the citizens have a large goal, their task force isn't anywhere near completing it. So you get the silly task of carrying bricks back and forth, helping deliver food, Basically nothing serious. These areas would look like a mix between destroyed Ascalon and Pre-searing. Upon entrance there would be green patches of grass being plotted, pools of sludge being drained, buildings in the beginning process of being built. But as you go further into the outpost it would be more developed with pre-searing style buildings and what not. These areas would be unavailable to noobs because they would need to beat the game. How could keep them out? A large wall similiar to the Great Wall would be in the southern portion of Ascalon near the bottom (To the noobs they wouldn't question it, and just think its a border to the edge of the map) There would be a gate that you would go through (An NPC who would check if you have the quest) And tada thats about it.. Version #2 Same quest, but instead of this area being in Ascalon, you go up from the Southern Shiverpeeks to where Wizard's Folly was. Its being rebuilt, you help out. |
Make wizards folly a mission place like aspenwood but not pvp it would be redo able as much as you want gain Bal Faction and what you have to do is protect the workers from waves of charr. you get here from boat leaving port sledge. only accesable to those who completed the titan quests.

I would like to see Rin rebuilt. I think that would be way cooler than a rebuilt ascalon. It always annoyed me that we never had a "nice" city for the ascalon area. We have magestic Lion's Arch in Kryta, Droknar's Forge for the shiverpeaks , Henge of Denravi for the Maguuma Area, but we have a craphole in ascalon. I want to see a majestic city, much like pre-searing.

When a foreing character tries any mission before Gates of Kryta, you receibe the message that you are 'traveling on time'.
Well... since you can travel a bit on time... why not to go back to PreAscalon?
Symon The Scribe in Ascalon city is the perfect NPC to do so.
Ask him to tell ou the histroy two years ago and you'll be in PreAscalon.
That way players will be able to help new character friends like they can in Shing Jea and Istan.

I don't really like the whole 'rebuilding' thing. Prophacies is a great game the way it is. What I WOULD like to see is a way to get to the pre-searing area. Wizards Folley could have some sort of magical time-gate that only exists in post-searing. This WOULD mean the addition of a Wizard's Folley in post-searing but just adding a small explorable area leading to WF in south shiverpeaks would be great! WF could remain inaccessable to the ascolon area if need be also. This would have the SAME impact on the game as a higher level Tyrian character going to Shing-jea island. Not much to do but you could help your pre-searing friends out. I think the main issue there would be the buying/selling of dyes ect. There is no trader to give new characters a clue as to prices. Maybe adding some of the new merchants (like storage) in pre would be great! maybe setup a yearly festival in pre or something. I LOVED the look of pre and I can't go back without deleting a chaacter now...

Well- perhaps a new expansion could involve time travel. Visit a new contact, get the opportunity to move forward in time to help rebuild Ascalon, or perhaps lead an offensive to push the char back. Maybe assasinate a few top leaders.
You could put portals in all the chapters.
This would bode well for keeping the playerbase more consolidated.

My idea on this would be a follow-up to the Titan quests. Make it a quest from Glint in Droknar's. After you complete The Titan Source, give a quest called "rebuilding Ascalon." The quest would have you walk outside of Ascalon city and talk to an NPC. This NPC would be one of the checkpoints in the quest that triggers a cutscene, and it places you in a Prophecies Elite Mission (place it wherever you like on the map.) The Prophecies Elite Mission would have you fight Charr in unprecedented numbers, perhaps with annoying environment effects (the Titan quests did not measure up in any way, shape or form to the current Elite Missions in Factions nor Nightfall.) Maybe you just kill all the Charr or maybe the Titans come back and the Charr learn of what they really are. It'd be cool to fight alongside Charr for once. When you beat that mission, a cutscene would appear where the people rebuild Ascalon, and you're placed in a Divine Path/Throne of Secrets type place where you get the equivalent of an Amulet of the Mists or a Book of Secrets and perhaps new endgame armor (Elite Ascalon Armor anyone?). At that point, there are three options:
-1. Do what all the other chapters do, and make the environment not reflect what has actually happened. In Factions, Afflicted still roam the landscape of Cantha, and in Nightfall, Abaddon's minions and taint is ever present even after his defeat. The endgame area would a Pre-Searing looking place, but when you exit it you end up in the Nuclear Wasteland type Ascalon City
-2. Give the characters the option of travelling back and forth between Pre-Searing and Post-Searing. This would be the ultimate reward for many players. However, this may ruin some of the glory for LDoA-seekers, but I have one of those myself and I wouldn't really mind. The LDoA title would not be given to the level 20s who had made the journey back.
-3. Make a Pre-Searing-Type area that can only be accessed after the mission is completed. It could be accessed from an NPC in Post-Searing Ascalon city and you could travel back and forth, similar to the idea with actual Pre-Searing travel, only with an area that is not linked to the true Pre-Sear map.

Great quest ideas, Nevin. Even when we return to Ascalon in Last Day, not much has gone on. Supposedly defeating the Charr's Gods, the titans, made the Charr lose a fair bit of hope and power, giving Ascalon more time to focus on rebuilding.
I just realized something recently, I don't know why it didn't hit me before: Since Stormcaller can make it rain (which weakens the Charr in the mission if you never noticed), why not use Stormcaller to weaken the Charr greatly, and, since it rains, perhaps they can use it to make the land fertile and get things growing again!
I'm also wondering what happened to Wizard's Folly too. I guess it melted during the Searing, so now it's a big pit of water/tar? :P

New quest ideas. If you completed Factions then maybe you can make trade arrangements with Luxons for import of the Jade to rebuild Ascalon or those Kurzicks for amber? and The characters that done it all should go outside and see the rebuilding in progress.... like green i see appear again in ascalon or water in the Northen Wall mission where there were none year ago.
And why the heck after 2 years those fires still burn? i mean ruble cant burn for years...sheesh!
oh and in the real world rebuilding would start the next month and you wouldnt have to wait years for it.

We can't just rebuild Ascalon since we haven't expelled the charr threat. When we fled across the Northern Shiverpeaks, we surrendered Ascalon to the charr horde. Before we could rebuild it, we'd have to drive them back to the northlands since they've been using Ascalon as their personal toilet >_< .
In the titan quests, we did fight some lvl 28 charr- but ultimately we eliminated the titans not the charr.
Bottom line: We can't rebuild if they're still there!
Maybe in the supposed next campaign the charr issue will be resolved and there could be a seperate rebuilt Ascalon on the map for that campaign....
