Ascalon Rebuilding Effort?
MirageMaster
Charr threat? what charr? the ones we own in every damn fight? There is only dead charr after the fight. They were never a big threat... just party numbers made them out so but charr lords are easy to kill, escpecialy with charrslaying gear !

Before we could rebuild it, we'd have to drive them back to the northlands since they've been using Ascalon as their personal toilet >_< . In the titan quests, we did fight some lvl 28 charr- but ultimately we eliminated the titans not the charr. Bottom line: We can't rebuild if they're still there! Maybe in the supposed next campaign the charr issue will be resolved and there could be a seperate rebuilt Ascalon on the map for that campaign.... |
If you want this to be like unlocked after LDD, there should be a quest given by uuuummm.... Warmaster something...... as a final quest to drive off the Charr. It'll be like 5 parts.
Piken, eliminate 5 groups of scary Charr. Each one containing a boss.
PockMark Flats (Serenity Temple), eliminate another 10 groups of Charr. Each one containing a boss.
Regent Valley, eliminate 10 groups of Charr. Each one containing a boss.
Rally the armies, help at least 10 out of 15 soldiers from all three places get to Ascalon City. Maybe like 10 groups of Charr impeding the path for each place. Then before you get to ascalon, you fight a final group with 2 bosses.
Ascalon (final part), eliminate 30 scary groups of Charr (Each one containing a boss) with some ascalon soldier help. Maybe like1-5 soldiers spawn at each battle, if they live, they rush to a second place saying follow me. If they die... no help... Then the last group would be like sitting near the gate to Piken with like 4 bosses and lots of minions.
This quest could be like done for Kryta and the undead... Then the same for the Shiverpeaks and the defeat of the Stone Summit even though Dagnar died. Then you can get a title!!!!
But each place nice and happy it could result in easier runs... it could just be if someone in the party hasn't done that part yet, it'll still be the same as before.
But if anything, the "rebuilding" would have to be outside of town because it would be a little bit screwy for the new players to step into ascalon which is being "rebuilt" when it shouldn't be. So the rebuilding process would have to be outside of town after you beat LDD or the little quest said above.
MirageMaster
Huh? after 2 years they done nothing in town!!! even noobs should see that, why not!

Well maybe if Anet added like a special end-game mission to Tyria(that didn't count for protector..) where we pushed back the charr once and for all; then afterward the zones outside could be all pretty again. It would work like in Elona when you get to a certain point and it switches to the Nightfallen Garden, it would switch to rebuilt Ascalon for those that had completed it. I think it would have to be an actual mission rather than just a couple of quests just 'cause this whole thing would be pretty significant lore-wise.
But if they wanted all of the Ascalon region rebuilt and not just the explorable areas, maybe they could add something like the vortex that switches to the Realm of Torment map to switch to a map with the alternate Ascalon. Or, again, maybe they just intend to address it in the next campaign...

Let players that beat the game and the titan quests access a special "rebuilt" ascalon that has its own map, like the realm of torment.

In many mmorpgs there are live events that change the surroundings of the game.So would be also nice to have an event where players could actualy take part and rebuild part of ascalon, dosent matter if reparing the wall or building new houses or just cleaning debries(why are they still smoking again?),even do raw materrial runs from cantha to help with the effort.I am sure many ppl would enjoy that, i know i would.
arcanemacabre
Well... if they did something like this, there also needs to be Renovating Kaineng, and Rebuilding the First City in Istan. Could be cool, though, I'm all for it!

Well, since you asked... Have you even seen Kaineng City? Not the Center, but the slums all around it? It all seriously needs some renovating and remodeling. Also, in Istan, there are quests dealing with Fahranur, The First City that imply the villagers and Sunspears wish to rebuild it at some point. It's freakin huge and would make an awesome town/outpost.

I think blowing Stromcaller a few times every day would go a long way in making the soil fertile again.
They could also build a new temple of melandru. Or simply restore Serenity temple.
One good thing about GW2: It's 200 years in the future, so Ascalon would be mostly restored anyway.

why can't we have mission based access to "Rebuilding of Ascalon"?
in other words, after i reach level ten (arbitrary) or level 20, i return to Ascalon to discover that they are rebuilding? Yes, Prince Rurick and the refugees fled to the shiverpeaks and into Kryta, but not everyone, and certainly the Charr have overrun Ascalon, but not all of it will stay destroyed, nor all of it will have Charr every two feet. Areas are slowly returning, those dedicated to the survivors and who did not leave, ie... Necromancer Munne, Kysha Blackwood, and other NPC's who stayed to help rebuild, the farmers, the fisherfolk, the Ashford Citizens who will not give up?
In this way, i have access after i reach level 20, and since it is instanced to my pc at home, others won't see it, unless of course you have groups of real people, but if they have done the "Rebuilding of Ascalon" quest as well, then it is familiar to them.
Also as a sidenote, it would be nice to have a way to go back to Pre-searing. Perhaps a portal, or a dream, where you can take any character that has crossed into post, and have them "return" to pre-searing. Perhaps reduce the level to 5 or so while returning to pre? But have them switch back after going back to post?
Just some ideas, hope it helps

Perhaps you are right, with GW EN and GW2 in work, the devs probably dont want to spend time on something old like Prophecies of the original GW. But it would be nice Like you, i would love to see it, and perhaps, even remotely maybe, a little string of code that doesnt take too much time ?
Hoping, haha... and crossing my fingers

YES, great idea, but like some people have said that it would be strange to people just out of pre-searing, they should have to get to a certain point or to the end in prophecies first, then see it. the body of the places would stay the same for the ones who are new and to the ones who have got far, but the skin would differ. or, another idea, districts for just whose got far, and districts for everyone. first would be rebuilt, second destroyed.

Progressive geographic changes would be great to have in GW2. Not now.
