Slowed Level Progression

you only *really* had to level to 15 in GW:P anyway. Ascending ftw. Doing all the skill quests and some of the missions on my Necro led me to the desert to ascend at about that level. /shrug
Meh, the leveling isn't a huge concern of mine, just as long as they include skill quests. The training quests in Factions were helpful too, so put both of those in C3 and its gg.

leveling is a gimmic, a way to extend game play time with out really offering much.
Sure it give lots satisfaction and sense of achieveing goals, but making it longer than it needed to be, is just asking for more time to waste.
I think one of the "original" goal of GW is the hope that you won't concern yourself with leveling, and certainly not power level grind like in other game. You would play the game, follow the plot line, and before long, if you do all the linear missions and such, you would be reaching max with out too much 2nd effort.
You could try to find a good suggestion about giving player more satisfaction when you level over lv 20, beside just earning one skill points. But would not recomand many any suggestion about increasing level caps or something that would result in player elitism. I think such thing is needed, and really help the game.. but what would it be? I have no answer, else I would be suggesting it.

Leveling my new War to 20 playing normally gave me a satisfying sense of accomplishment. Something that Factions characters will probably not experience.
People could always get power-levelled if they have already been through the game 20 times with as many characters
/signed though it wont make a difference to anything

But that aside, I would say not to ask dev for slow progression, as it is just a gimmic for making player play more necessary hours. (I remember when I first play, there is a part that is just ginding, and I think to my self, not level grind again....) Instead, ask for more contents, more things to do, and more fun, that would make you forget you are even leveling. |
I have to agree on this, there is a bit of strategy involved with leveling (moreso while they had attribute refund points). You need to deal with available skillpoints etc. With factions, you start on an island with your 15 atribute point quests which as easy as hell compared to prophecies ones and 4000xp quests. As soon as you get off, theres a skill trainer with like every skill except 5 or something. That takes away the challenge of getting skills.
A lot of the challenge was taken away in factions and that is one of my major dissapointments.
I don't mind how fast or slow the lvling is but i would want more time to feel how a character class plays with GWP i really felt i knew how my charater plays and how to use her to the maximum effect but with GWF i hit lvl 20 and had most skillsand still didn't know how to use that character.
if they did slow down the lvling it coul dpossibly bring up the quality of players maybe.

exactly. what would i do with my 4 level 20 characters? how boring would it be to be doing missions in say northern shiverpeak equivalent areas for lvl 20's?
its a skill game not a leveling game. it was never a challenge to lvl my characters in prophecies, it just took time, as long as i was playing the game as intended.

When players level at a slower rate hopfully, im notat al sure about this, they would theroretically have more time to be creative and try new things rather than hit lvl 20 with the one build that got them there and stick with it.
I think it might also get rid of some the i'm lvl20 that means im the best attitude, some people don't seem to understand that skills are more important than levels in this game, i seem to be seeing more in factions than i see in GWP
not to sure, but thats what my views are.

Want to level slow?
Do Prophecies.
Want to level fast?
Do Factions.
Isn't GW a pvp based game? I'd rather pvp on lvl 20 with full attributes and nice skills+elites...then half way the game with lvl 15 and almost no elites.
See Factions as a "Online Massive Fast Leveling Character Playing Game"
or something..

I agree with the general opinion here, but they could have made Factions bigger, with more time and quests to level more slowly, just as in Prophecies. It was after all a stand alone that cost as much as Prophecies. Should have had the same amount of content. Chapters would have been bigger, more gameplay for your money, but then again, they need to make money cuz theres no monthly fee, so I can understand Anet.
