Ick.. I can just see what fatigue would do in missions.. Its not like people would have races in town and such. But /signed walking would be a very nice addition.

Hmm, I never commented on this before.

I'm definately going to have to add my /signed to this idea as well, I've thought about it several times in the past and it'd just be awesome to be able to walk instead of run all the time. Towns just don't feel like towns with everyone decked out in armor running everywhere, we need some walking.

This thread is pretty old. Walking us still not implemented, though. I wonder if there's just not enough of us who wants the function? We just want a key bind to the same animation and speed of a 66% reduced speed hex (I think that was the right number).

And for those against, walking's not useless. I can't say how many games I've used a slowing command or an otherwise random jump to keep things timed. What if you need to get out of one group's aggro, but there's another ahead? You can't completely stop, but if you keep running, you'll aggro the one ahead. Solution? Slow down, wait for the one ahead to pass, and then Sprint/Stormchase/Escape/Charge yourself the heck out.

...and aside from that, it'd just LOOK cool. And be great for roleplaying, not that there's much anyhow..

/signed -- Make it a keybind though, such as Shift. This could also allow you to sneak past enemy mobs.

A way to run faster in towns would be nice. Huge towns like LA, etc really need it.

But it needs to be bound to a key, not a /command.

As a toggle not a command. Not necessary but would be nice to see!
Some of the npc's you have to escort will not run, which makes it a little annoying to run/stop as someone stated before, and to be able to stay more level with teammates who are crippled or slowed somehow.
I think the animations are just a slowed version of the run, I've watched at a few of them and they look a little funny sometimes.

It also fits in when you're waiting on that one single NPC guy or multiple NPCs to walk slowly all the way up a long path to talk to another NPC to allow you to get into towns/continue with quests. It's annoyin sometimes when you run all the way up then have to wait while this person saunters along for the next 5 mins...

Edit: This has been stated before, sorry. However, it just reinforces the idea. Also, make it bound to a key as said before .

I don't know about this one, it would be cool sometimes but as others have said, running in towns like LA is kind of essential. WHy bother walking even in towns as small as Piken Square? And for PvE purposes, it wouldn't make much of a difference, there is no sneak involved. Either they're in your aggro bubble or your safe.

Sorry to kill the trend, but...

Just for aiding in the suspension of disbelief. I would settle for it towns/outposts only too. There is so much attention to detail in this game right down to character animation. The fact that everyone just runs everywhere looks incredibly stupid. Part of the selling point of Guild Wars (for me) is the fact that it doesn't have that Mario look of so many other RPGs. Why play a role playing game if you are not going to get into the role.

The females saunter when they walk (while under a spell or hex) and it gives them an air of power even if during combat it is undesirable..

I understand from a logistics standpoint why running makes more sense but from a ROLE playing/game play standpoint I'd like more control over my characters movements.

The only 'evil' use for this would be to 'fake' your are slowed down in PvP.

But making to walk only possible in towns and explorable areas would be more than enough for videos and socialize.

perhaps adding some mechanics to some foes as noise instead of just aggro bubble and walking limits noise compared to runnin which makes alot

It be great in towns because players will look more normal like instead of running around all the time like somebody out to get them, and if npcs can walk we should be able too.

would be nice to walk around instead of everyone dancing while waiting for an afk'er. also it'd be really pleasing to just be able to sit back relax and have your char walk around a Vanguished area enjoying the scenary.
