So now that Griffons are nerfed...

when you find that next farming spot, keep it to yourself.
Out of my last 20 runs:
3 blue items.
Same results for my guildies.

It didn't say anything in the update about stopping any exploits in that area.
Some forum members have said they noticed a difference, others nothing. Could just be bad luck. REALLY bad luck.

I never heard about ppl farming griffons a lot ..
But, yeah, when u got a nice farming spot.. keep it for yerself
That's what i m doin, and my favourite one never got nerfed in any update

Regardless I use the area for gaining a lot of exp for unlocking skills. Gold is only useful if you care about how you look. I could always just go back to my other spot (although I fear it will get nerfed soon).

lmao did it ever occur to you that not everything in this game is an EXPLOIT???
being able to farm like that is not an exploit. sheesh they did nerf it but like the others ie riverside etc they do not tell you so. it falls under the main "nerfing farming" header but an exploit it is not
Disciple
Just a quick question -- are there still farming spots out there? No, I'm not asking for a location (Unless I PMed you :-P).

All this is really pissing me off I can tell you. These nerfs aren't in the updates, and they're POINTLESS. They've nerfed every farming spot I've ever had in this game, they've nerfed my 10 most recent ones! I used to farm because I ENJOYED it. I liked knowing I was working FOR something for some goal that I could reach by doing so. But they've nerfed EVERYTHING, even places where it takes over 2 hours to get 10k! (ie gates of kryta) I mean hell you couldn't even get rich quick in most of the spots they've nerfed, they just swing the nerf bat because for some reason, they don't think people should get dropped. Lets say I was a new character, I go through Gates of Kryta...what? 2 drops? What kind of crap is that? ...
Hell people who stay in the tombs all day get sigils to sell for a HELL of a lot, they get loads of money doing what they enjoy, why can't we even get money using our time and effort? Even the UW/Fissure are hardly worth anything to me anymore...nothing but crap I can't get at the southern shiverpeaks.

Yeah, it's really annoying when Anet decides "Nerf time!". Next thing you know, you're wondering where to farm for the next three hours.
PieXags
Lets just sum up how grave the situation has become.
The best and easiest way to make money in PvE is now to run people from town to town. Droknar runners will get more money in one run than I will in 2 hours. And that's just plain CRAP.

And they even made the Droknar run harder for us runners... on a side note (not an attempt to derail my own thread), I do runs from Ascalon to Droknar's. PM me, if I'm in the mood, I'll do it.
Witchblade
@PieXags: like u said in ur thread, making farming a lil harder for ppl doin it.. that i can understand but completely ruining places like Riverside Mission...
I think farming is one of the in-game possiblity player ll always want, like pvp, trading etc..
Controling it, that's ok..but u can't STOP it. I find it quite funny to develop my own build etc..trying skill combination, and like u jjst said, i ENJOY it, finding stuff, getting gold etc.. we re spending time doin it, this is no cheating at all..since it's a game feature. So? Why not implementing the same thing for HoH .. like sigil drops decreased after a large number of matches...

At this rate it will be impossible to farm anywhere. I don't really understand why'd they nerf every opportunity they'd get. I mean, making money can be hard enough.
Disciple
Finding the perfect build is what I enjoy most in this game. I didn't mind the repetative farming of Griffons, I did it for a good 14 hours straight. Congratulations Arenanet, you have nerfed my last known farming spot and taken practically every ounce of enjoyment I once found in this game away.
PieXags
I like that idea. I'm just frustrated is all, I mean I personally just enjoy making money and what not. I simply...can't do that now. I can't find anyplace in the game that gives good drops, it's insane and just plain unnecessary. There is no REASON to do it. Hell they haven't stopped droknar runners and they really won't be able to unless they make it near impossible for ANYONE. So basically every warrior in the game will get filthy stinkin' rich for running people around while everyone else will be stuck praying for the lost strongbox to drop something worth 60 gold. PvP players? No problem, they can make money. PvE players...who actually NEED the money...sorry guys, you're out of luck.
Just doesn't make sense.

It d be quite hilarious nerfing Droknar runs
Can u imagine this, ppl doin that all day long for money ^^ ..like the farming u get a popup saying "u have done too much of those runs in a short period of time, u r about to be redirected in Beacon's Perch " and then a wall of bricks in Snake Dance spawns and u r stuck

I agree with the above poster.
-Begins to cast Call Upon Gaile Gray-
Come to this thread and fill us in on Arenanet's -cough-horrible-cough- policy regarding farming and if they plan to make it impossible for
a.) Good items to drop.
b.) Add enchantment removing skills etc... to monster and / or mobs that have those skills to areas, making many encounters boring and repetative.
Also, PieXags brings up an interesting point. Why is it that PvP players can make money easier than PvE players?

I imagine that would also make an impressive number of people even more upset. Droknar's runs is probably the most profitable way to make money, like PieXags said though "It's a Warrior game". It's rediculous.

There are a large majority of people who actually work for their money. ArenaNet bans botters on a daily basis so to say that bots are the sole reason for nerfs is rediculous.
PieXags
Bots go out and collect money/drops from chests/wreckage/etc. Why do you think they added the MONSTERS outside seekers passage? If bots could just go out and kill them they would've put a brick wall there instead of some mobs. It's not mobs that's making them nerf everything, if it was...
Mind telling me why those mobs outside gates of kryta used to all drop simply mediocre drops that you could make good money on, but it took a long...LONG time, and now they almost literally drop nothing? Bots didn't farm outside gates of kryta I'd guarantee it, if they could they'd go elsewhere where better drops were. But they nerfed it anyway, without a point. They aren't nerfing EVERYTHING because of bots. They've only nerfed several wreckage/drop runs that bots take.
I've gone and started a thread in Sardelac Sanitarium board, a petition for peoples to sign to see how many people we can get to have our drops back. If PvP people can fight in the same arena every day why the hell can't we fight the same monsters every day?!

When people abuse these farming areas, it sometimes makes it hard to tell the difference between a bot and a player. say there are many late night players that play all night(there are many people who do.), and all they do is the same thing over.. and over.. and over... starts lookin like a bot.
They can find out where everyone of our characters has been.

There are ways to tell a bot from a person. Want to know why there aren't bots at thunderhead keep getting reported? The Lost Strongbox is there and any bot should be able to raid the hell out of that chest. It's because when you walk up to it you get murdered by loads of mobs.
We're fighting the mobs by ourself, we're not running around picking up wreckage like a bot, we're actually fighting for our money. And anyone just by watching our walking patters can tell we're not bots. There's no reason to nerf low lvl places that took forever to get money anyways, if the only reason is bots. They're nerfing it because they think it helped out the "economy" when it fact it screwed it over. Now you've got people selling things high, and the few people who got rich quick buying them at those prices, and so long as the few rich people keep buying high people will keep selling high, while the rest of us are screwed. Not to mention the last bit of fun I got out of this game is now gone.

Why bother using your intelligence to come up with an excellent skillset to take on several enemies and gain the rewards when you can just run chests.

I seriously doubt a bot can farm whole groups of griffons and minotaurs. This is just Anet swinging their stupid nerf bat again. Farming is ok so they say... I find that really hard to believe with all the nerfs recently.
If supposedly what Gaile said is their "official" stance then their sneaky input of nerfs into recent patches with no note accompanying them is a great way to make the community happy.

But a problem can arise because the same areas that you might play as a farmer, even repetitively (which is ok) are also the areas that are targeted by bots (which is not ok).

Witchblade, I like it. A pack of twelve wurms spawns, the first Wild Blows, the second meteors, then the rest meteor shower. Ouch!

See that quote further pushes my point---bots DON'T farm like we do, they "farm" single paths for CHESTS, they do not fight off mobs. Their is no reason to nerf drops by mobs if they want to stop bots. To stop bots all you have to do is ban accounts and move chests/wreckage because bots don't actually FIGHT groups like we farmers do. They just run around, pick up loot that's already there, repeat.
We FIGHT for our loot.
I think Gaile needs to learn what we mean when we say "farm", we don't mean raid the hell out of chests. (no offense to gaile)
Honestly, bots aren't responsible for the unfathomable drop decrease in mobs, they just do that to piss us off or something.

Grumpy Old Man
I think you all underestimating how complex Bot code has become. Randomization of pathing, mob destruction, complicated situational responses, random chatter and reply's to whispers, these are all things well within the abilities of todays programmers.
It is simply unrealistic to think you will be able to properly identify a good bot from a real player. You may stop version 2.2 of the bot, but 2.3 will throw you for a loop and these people will go to version 239.22 if need be because this is the game they want to play. And if you think the people who create these bots use them on their "Real" account are dreaming. So "They will get banned and have to buy the game again" response will not cut it as a way to stop botting.
The way to stop botting is to make it arbitrary to do. If you flood the market with so much money that having an enormous bank roll means nothing because everyone has the money they need or an easy way to get it, then the bots cease to be anything more than a personal battle between programmers Bot Coder vs ANet. The bot is no longer effecting the game or it's economy, they are not able to sell Gold for real life money, and ANet can take it's time finding and banning the botters that remain. All the while, the rest of the community goes through drastic economic change, difficult at first to deal with but soon will reach an equalibrium because you have removed the ability for outside code to realy effect it. If the averge joe can make 10k per day of game play and a bot can earn 100k, are you improving anything by changeing the numbers to 1k for average joe and 10k for bots? Are the bots stopped? Is their effect on the economy hindered?
To put a more "Real World" example together, imagine a country with a below average economy. Where the gov officials are diverting funds and aid intended for the general public into their own pockets, exploiting the system for their own gain. You stop sending aid or buying products from the country and it's the public that suffers, the officials find a new way to skim their cash, and things do not really change. However, if you flood the country with jobs for the average Joe, then the gov looses it's strangle on the economy. Eventualy the gov will be forced into major change because it becomes more fruitfull to their greed to help the upcoming wealth within it's own country instead of trying to keep finding ways to force the public back into poverty.
Obviously the example is full of holes and flaw, but I think it makes the point. I know this will not translate properly into a game world, but it's intended to introduce other economic solutions into this discusion, other than simply removing the ability to make money.

Lets put it this way, I'd rather put up with some bots and be able to benefit at least enough to get what I need in the game by farming than to have 0 drops after 20 mobs.
Also, with the system we have right now...it actually BENEFITS those using bots more so than destroys them. What are bots? Inhuman little players that run around and have whatever you need them to do basically, they don't get pissed about anything ever, they can keep going for a long long time. Right now, someone who can keep going over and over and over and over and over will benefit more from this "little or no drops" than a normal person. I farmed for about 3 hours today...or tried to find a good spot, and made 1k. Someone botting could've been farming that whole time in one massive spot and made more money than me simply because they wouldn't have had to be present. So right now it's...bots can still get things, humans can't hardly. I don't mind having to compete with a bot so much as watch him go about doing what I can't sit here and do all day.

Go just outside of Amnoon Oasis, and kill everyone in the area near the, like the Scarabs. Today I found in 1 run with a full party of 6 others 1 rare and 1 blue item, and they were both not far from Max Dmg.
