how the hell do i get rid of my pet?

There is another thread on this, but I'll tell ya anyway. You must find a tamer. There are a number of them scattered around the countryside and you must talk to one and have him/her take your pet. This is final, and it will not be coming back.
As for removing Charm Animal, if you dont want your pet along you can just remove it and keep it off, and you wont have to deal with it, but your pet will still be there. Just replace Charm Animal and he/her/it will be back at your side.
I'm telling you this for both sides benefit, those who don't know why their pet is gone when they remove that skill, how to get it back, and how to get rid of your pet all-together.

**Edit** In pre-searing Ascalon, go to Riverside Country, and find Master Ranger Niente (or whatever his name is, just follow the path and you'll run into him). Right behind him is a tanner, and he will take your pet from you. There is also a collector there collecting dull carapaces for a bow, some artifacts, and some upgraded armor. Hope this helps.
**Edit** The trainer in post-searing (our friend Master Ranger whats-his-name) is by a statue of Balthezar on your way to the entrance to The Breach. He asks you to bring him a Stalker, but when I brought him mine, he never took it, just said thanks and gave me the reward and XP, I dont know if this is a bug, or what, but I never lost my pet.
