Is there a way to get to lvl 10+ in the pre-searing?
impkim92

I believe you can get to 13. There is a post somewhere here about it and what to kill. Personally, I just leave right away, but in short, the answer to your question is yes
ICURADik
17 is the max in Pre-searing.
impkim92
k thanx but u should really go to the post at lvl 7+
impkim92
how do u get to lvl 17 in the pre

Why wait till 7+ to go to post? I have 15k armor by level 7. There is no point in Pre-Searing once you have done this game over and over.
impkim92
ohh in that case u dont need to wait in the pre if u have 15k armor

You can go up to 9 levels above monsters you kill before you will no longer receive any xp from killing them.
So in short
You can go up to lvl 9 killing the ice and hulking stone elementals in Wizards folly (they are lvl 3)
Then you can go up to lvl 11 killing the pinesouls north of the wall (lvl 5)
Then you can go up to lvl 14 killing the char.
This last bit is a bit hard to do because your armor will be relatively low level and the maximum party size is 2 ppl. The char will be around lvl 8 and in mixed groups of around 4.
As an elementalist i tried and was ripped to pieces in seconds with my 7AL armor.
It can be done and some ppl have even managed to conquer the shrine that is surrounded by many many char .... /em: takes off hat

with all the quests available in pre-searing, you can't go really far
in order to level up, you must kill charrs, that's the only way
I tried with a friend, it's quite challenging but very amusing
even at low lvl (7-8) you can wipe the altar completely

I'll find out in a couple weeks. Why? Why not. I already have two characters in post. I'm doing it just because I can. So far, I've only taken my primary profession quests, the rez signet and that very first one to talk to Sir Tydus. I'll just kill as much as I can until I don't get anymore XP, then do all the quests. I think you can get to 16 or 17 this way. There are level 10 Charr over the wall. At that point though, it's going to be really, really boring killing the same thing over and over. I guess I'll find out if I can hold out that long.

<3 Char
Inez: by the time you reach lvl10 even doing EVERY quest in pre-sear won't get you to level11...so it's not worth saving until later. by lvl10 you need about 7,500 XP for next lvl...I'm not sure on the actual numbers but there's less than 7,500xp worth of quests in pre-sear.
btw: my pre-sear monk is a lvl13 right now

by my calculations, doing all the quests from pre-searing should give 5750 xp
impkim92
so in other word just do the quest at the beggening or just dont do them at all
impkim92
so in other sords u are saying just do the quest with your lvling to lvl 9 or just dont do them at all.
Algren Cole
I guess you could wait until you were 5,500 xp away from hitting lvl 16 and then go do them because you were bored of killing char....but after lvl10 doing EVERY quest in per-sear isn't going to give you enough XP for the next lvl...so the quests themselves have nothing to do with how high you can lvl in pre.
they're optional if all you want is to get to lvl16

If you only do the quests you can get to level 7, easy.
If you really want to see how high you can go follow Shaquiras methods above, by just killing everything until you stop recieving XP - then maybe attempt the quests afterwards, you get the same XP from quests regardless of your level, the same of which cannot be said from killing monsters.

I'm just doing it for kicks and because I can. It's also kinda nice to go back and just run around shooting stuff with a different character after I get frustrated dying so much in post-sear. By the time I level out (or get completely bored), I'll be that much closer to my next level anyway.
Judas Hawksriff
the thing you've got to understand is its harder to level when you start killing monsters that are lower than your level, 'cos you get less XP - if you've got the patience tho', then go for it.

My advice, as I've wasted a bit of my time doing this, is that it is no longer worth it. Sure you can get a bunch of runes from killing Charr, but they are pretty much worthless now (you can't even use them in pre-searing). Anyway, pull the first few groups of Charr back towards the entrance to the gate. There is a healer there who will keep you healed while you kill the charr. I've taken all the charr out at the "temple" area a few times. It's time consuming, but just have a longbow equipped and pull as few as possible. I was a W/R playing with a guy who was a W/E. I also had a pet, so I had an advantage there.
Basically it takes too long to increase your levels once you get up to level 9+ and you definitely start running out of inventory room to keep all your good drops.

And they weren't always as valuable as they are now, that's for sure. I really wish I had held onto the first three or four I found..
On-topic: I always seem to be about lvl11-12 when I get done with pre-searing. The only goal I ever really set for myself is just to finish all the quests.. by that time I'm usually well bored with the newbie sights and smells, and can't wait to get on with things.
Will be cool to see how far you can go with your experiment, Inez! Be sure to take pictures

I was going to level like mad pre-searing, but it's such a pain finding someone to go kill Charr with that I just gave up. On the plus side, I had the easiest time in the academy as a lvl 10 Wa/Me with all the gear from slaughtered Charr. Those poor lvl 3s never stood a chance
elenna
Yeah, I just went thru the academy with my latest character. My team was up against a team with a lvl 14 W/ something(I forget) player on it. It was a joke. We were slaughtered.
I can't imagine staying in pre-searing long enough to be that high level. It was pushing my boredom button pretty hard just to get my character to lvl 8 pre-sear.

I have a lvl 12 Warrior in Pre-Searing, with the collector's armor dyed a mix of Black and Silver. It gets boring though, and I think I'm going to delete the character soon, it only takes space, and unless you're lvl 17, it's not cool enough anyway.. Maybe it sounds cool at the beginning, but I'm sure you wont get higher then lvl 14
