Can You Solo Hydras?
TopGun
I just discovered that, with a proper build and some intense, coming down to the last strike battling, that I can solo farm Hydras- I figure that's pretty damn good, considering I'm level 18, and they're level 22. Can anyone else do this, or am I actually special?
kelvanor
yes. smite/heal build monk use zealots before battle and then charge them use balths and wrath then heal yourself to kill them. just need to wait out the first knockdown to use blaths so its not interupted
sino-soviet
If you can survive the first two barrage of spells, then hydras arent so hard.
Divinus
I've never tried with my E/Me as she's primarily a supporting nuker. Not much of a solo character.
My W/Mo is pretty good against anything that doesn't blind or disenchant. I doubt I could take them because of constantly being knocked down by meteor/meteor shower (whichever they cast). I can take all the minotaurs in the beginning of elonas reach by myself though. Although I hear the mo/w protective bond builds can solo UW, so go figure, lol.
Being able to solo hydras is tough imo. Great job.

Yes, I found that its possible to actually do this with a ranger, mesmer, or monk. Interrupt the initial meteors, and fireballs if possible. This will make the battle alot easier afterwards. You'll still need some skill however.
TopGun
Yeah, the meteors do seem to be a problem- the first fireball I can survive through, but sometimes I get creamed on the second Direct Damage, 200 hp reducing meteor. My Necro is blood specced, that's why I think I can survive, I have 2 blood-siphon skills loaded so I can boost my hp by about 100 in a couple seconds. Problem is the cooldown on the spells- if I get slammed with a meteor in between them, I'm screwed.
Perhaps I should be trying to dodge? Maybe I should load Sprint?
This should be much easier once I hit level 20. =/

ember light camp hydras.
nothing else matters.

TopGun
Sure enough, loading Sprint helped me dodge his meteor and made surviving a lot easier, but there's no way for any melee character to avoid those fireballs, or a second meteor, unless they sprint and disengage. But I managed to get through this last one without going bellow half health...
Teufel Eldritch
I (Necro) can solo the hydras in the desert but as of yet cannot solo the ELC hydras. Just a matter of time, just a matter of time. =)

Obsidian flesh, gg......
Nash
You can solo any single creature mob, just build a counter to them, and steamroll.
Sereng Amaranth
I soloed "The Undead Hordes" yesterday.

it seems like after the first two spells hydras cast, they are pretty easy to kill. i've soloed hyrdas with my W/R.
kaotic2
I solo them all the time with my monk/war. I have a video of it when I first started doing it.

Anything in skyward reach that touches me...i smack them down fiercely.
EmperorTippy
*can solo any non-enchant stripping monster by lvl 10*
Hysteria
Spellbreaker rocks! I use to farm them with my W/Mo for a bit and it was pretty easy but it's much funner and quicker with a monk.
LoneDust
I've been farming mahgo hydros since May -_-
Ember lights mobs are actually easy to kill because you can select what type of mobs you want to fight against (degen/debuff golems, or knock-down heavy hydras).

I was actually getting really good drops untill like the thrid time that I came back and did it again.
Aaaaagh
My mo/me solo's them easily. My brother soloed them to death before all the nerfage, with a warrior/ele.
UberRusty
Are the drops still any good?
Moltov joss
I can solo mahgo hydras with my necro, oh ya gotta love that blood!!!
TheStonedOne
I can clear most of the stuff around emberlight camp with a trap ranger , wil mostly be running though hehe
TheGreatBoo
Yeah I soloed the undead hordes with my air nuking e/me. I didn't farm it though. Didn't think to at the time. When I did it with him, it was before all the nerfing. I found around 3 purples, and 2 golds. It was great.

how do you solo flesh golems i dont know how to any of you guys know?
Perishiko ReLLiK
My earth elementalist can do it with great ease.
Divine Elemental
My Monk Can Do It Ez LoL

If you have warrior as either of your classes, hydras are very easy to solo. Balanced stance. Ironically, they're a monster which you can farm better doing normal combat than monk smiting, since taking on enough hydras to make smiting more effective would get you 1-hitted in their first barrage of spells.

Ilya Khan

What, do you read what other people post and then coin it as your own or something?
Despite every farmers dream of doing it, and something every even remotely decent monk would know, is that you can't seed yourself....

I've no problems soloing hydras with my ranger. winter + mantra of frost = single digit damage.
bobrath
Would choking gas work to prevent the horde of hydras from casting meteor and fireball?
UnOrthOdOx
Probably only 1. Range on choking gas isn't all that great, unfortunately.
I solod them with my W/E regularly when all the henchies died. After watching hanchies get cremated within 2 seconds of meeting a group, I would just give up and solo the area to the next zone. (this was prior to Lina being available. Henchies probably have a MUCH higher survival rate there now.) Armor of Earth made the damage quite managable.
