As the number of posts crest 200 there truly is a sense of irony when posting on this thread...
samurai snack
ever wonder if ANet has deliberatly made gwen as mysterious as they possibly can? just to see if this will turn out "the biggest thread on gw guru".

No man gwnes dead, right in the first chamber is gwnes mom talking about her lost daughter gwen, why anyone would even care about a presearing character that has one quest and nothing else in the entire game exept the dead moms ghost is beyond me.

You are right, it would be silly if it really were all that simple. But it's not. Either you are unfamiliar with everything related to her, and her quest items... The Tapestry Shred which has no use.. broken flutes and tattered capes... or you are drastically understating and oversimplifying things.
It's been stated many times that there were quests intended to be spawned from her story.. but were never finished.
So it's not anywhere near as simple as just one single presear char and her dead mothers ghost. There was much, MUCH more to it than that.

Was reading through, and does anyone think Gwen might have ties to(or be)one of the great sepents that watched over Tyria before humans came to be?
Conan The Castrater
The fact the post searing items can be collected from all over Tyria would indicate she may have gone on a little adventure, rather than brewing in some hellpit. However, considering the current crop of writers/directors/voice actors ANet has take on board for Factions expect any continuation of this storyline to be awesomely weak.

Let's add a couple of new pics here (I think they're new, haven't seen them on the thread yet). But maybe, just maybe, Gwen made it out of Ascalon ok after all. Who knows, maybe some passing Tengu's felt pitty for the young girl and took her back to Cantha instead of chopping her up
.
But will she survive Shiro's wrath???!
Anyways, these shots are from a mission cinematic, might have been Vizunah Square or one of those early ones.

If we can't find Gwen in the underworld... isn't she still alive?

Gwens Quest is not broken, it is just Uber Hard. You have to have the tapestry shard, the broken flute, have gotten gwen to follow and heal you in pre-searing, and the orb of dreams. Then you speak to sarah in the underworld, and tell her about this little girl that used to follow you around, when she asks for a discription, show her the three items in this order, tapestry shred, broken flute, orb of dreams. She then breaks down and cries and asks you to save her, you tell her it is probably too late, and she tells you to go and see a dwarf named dragar in the southern shiverpeaks. When you arrive he tells you that he has been expecting you, and says to save gwen you have to travel back to the crystal desert, and find the horn of the unicorn, a horn filled with the power of the last king of the unicorns. Then you return to Dragar and he transports you back in time to just before the searing, and you have to use the orb of dreams to convince Gwen to come to the future and reunite her with her mother, once you have done this gwen is sent to live with the Refugees and you gain Permanant Access to the Underworld no matter who has favour, and for no charge.

Orb of Dreams? Sounds like Bull-Honkery! Why do people feel the need to spur people's hopes, only to crush them later when they find out that the story they were finding to complete a mystery is fake? ALso the only dwarf named Dragnar is the King's Brother who you kill in THK mission...I've only seen this thread once, but being an extremely bored GW player, this piques my interest.
Summary of the Facts I have read in the last six pages:
1.)Dead Flower cannot currently be attained, but could have been in the past
2.)Mingas the Meek has been removed from Stingray's Strand
3.) Tattered Cape may have been removed from Stingray's Strand wth Mingas the Meek
4.)Clearing the UW does nothing in the relation to Gwen
5.)Sarah in the UW makes no response to Gwen's items in inventory
6.)For time being Gwen's items are as useless as the Ancient Weapon in the Arid Sea (anyone find a use for that? I pondered about that for 3 months!)
7.)Many people who post on this tread think it is a joke and make rude/childish remarks upon it's existance and/or make stupid jokes/comments
I miss anything?
On a side note: I thikn I saw the dead flower while exploring Majesty's Rest. This was long before they added the Rotscale Bow drop. I don't exactly remember where it was, and It said "quest item" so i left it alone (since it had no monetary value). Also it was in the midst of a huge group of enemies. Stupid me for not picking it up!

In response to my last post...Upon Exploring Majesty's Rest a second time, I remember exactly where I had seen the Dead Flower the first time. It was about 20 yards West of the Balthazar Statue. Upon returning and completely clearing Majesty's Rest however...The Flower was nowhere in Majesty's Rest, and might have been removed with the addition of Rotscale.

It's time even if it's just a Gwen NPC standing around you give her the shred she, "remebers old times" and you get exp points. Just do something!!
G_MAGNUS
Remembers the old ties??!!
Have you gone mad!!!
And have her release massive firestorms all over the continent again? Slaughtering us by the droves?!
I think I'll stick with the mystery, thank you very much!

I hate to post to ancient threads but...
Has anyone held on to the original broken flute?
The one from the quest that gwen gives you in pre-sear, (not the one you find outside Sardelac Sanitarium post-searing).
Anyone tried anything with it and the other parts to this broken/unfinished npc?

I have 2 of every item related to gwen and you can still get the broken flute in presear, it would just seem they have removed the other red capes ... w/e ever they are called from game in post searing

Juicey Shake
I still have 3 versions of the tattered cape somewhere

Just so everyone doesn't keep asking about why Gwen sometimes already has the cape and flute even if they don't give them to her. It is realy easy to figure out actually. If you party with someone who has already given them to her and go out to where she is she will have them and from then on she will always have them when you go out by yourself. Kinda stupid and makes it so you can't give them to her to help towards getting the shred but oh well.
Truong
Gwen. She's going to get her own game.
Or... after the Searing, she traveled south into the Crystal Desert & Elona, and will be featured in Nightfall.
... I'm just exaggerrating.

I think Gwen got snatched up by Mingas the Meek and he made her into a
2 dollar Ascalon crack hore and he pimps her for all the gold he can get.
that's why he always drops you the cape

*Sigh* You noobs!
All these items are here to unlock a secret profession known as "The Gwens".
I'll tell you how, listen carefully.
First you have to collect 5 flowers pre searing but don't give them to her, buy a flute as well, again don't give her anything.
After you destroy ascalon you grab the tattered girls cape and the broken flute, you run to the river to the south east and stand in the water for exactly 95 seconds. After the 95 seconds are up you quit the game (exactly 95 seconds). Next find rurik, talk to him 13 times, on the 13th time leave the window up and go open your fridge door 13 times (closing it each time of course).
Once this is done close the window and go back to the river. Stand in it and equip the cape as a weapon and the BROKEN flute as your shield. Equip each of the 5 flowers as your armor.
Wait another 95 seconds and quit your game again.
When you get on your char again it will have transformed into a Gwen.
Gwen is a very imba profession with such skill as "Randomly stand around not helping", "Heal 20 whenever I feel like it", and "Spin in a circle while the Me/W gets owned in front of her very eyes".
If you guys attempt this and mess up your cd will blow up and it will delete it's self from your computer, FBI agents will walk into your house and inject something into your neck making you forget your CD key if for some insane reason you had memorized it.
Everything you touch will turn to ash and jesus will spit in your face.
GOOD LUCK.
why u even spend time at writing that?
