Please, take a step back, deep breath, close your eyes and mediate for 3 seconds before complaining about everything thing in this, imo extremely fun and balanced game.
*I acknowledge the fact someone may flame me. If you do, thank you for sharing your own oppinion.*

Mainly I'm answering your statement about how GW posters and how they post without any argument to their side other than "omfg u r da stupidz stfu". The main answer, to me, is surprisingly simple.
Put together a massively multiplayer game, throw in a widely varied age bracket, competetive play, enviornmental combat, and an immersive world. Then take out the monthly fee that the genre usually includes as a prerrequisite to play the game. This simple feature throws in large portion of the age bracket that tends to be missing from these games. I am primarily reffering to the young adolescent-teenagers that have shifted from B-net (diablo, starcraft, warcraft, what have you), and have had little consequence for speaking their mind.

This is a widely debated topic, one in which many people have widely varied angles on the situation. Some saying they are right and everyone else is wrong, some saying it is possible that this age group is responsible, blah blah. But my point lies in the facts.

Look at one random rant that constantly goes around... "Why can't I pwn someone with my uber weapon"
This question probably arose from someone who came straight from Diablo PvP (if that still exists) who spent hours on end killing people with one click. Its the fact that younger persons haven't been intrduced to a world such as this; and its the fact that this younger crowd isn't filtered out because of the non existent monthly fee. These players tend to want anything and everything 'right now', with little to no effort on their part in attempting to reach this goal.

(this probably doesn't make sense up to this point, but if I still have you, please don't be hovering over the reply button with images of four letter words in your head)

It is in my oppinion, that all of these posters who haven't been introduce to a mmog type game before, and don't realize the science behind it. I've played EQ for close to five years, and have been playing this game ever since it came out several months ago. I too, have realized, that the people in this game tend to be far more angered about anything and everything, and that they also tend to complain about every aspect of the game.

Is it because more younger people are playing this game? Possibly. Is it because these "potential" younger gamers that are playing this game complain because they don't understand the science of a mmog based game? Possibly. This is my oppinion, and is why I think that there tends to be a lot more angry posters who complain and rant about why xp sucks and why drops should be trippled.

You have your right to your very own oppinion, and I respect that. If someone disagrees with me, go ahead and say so in a respectful manner. I don't want to find someone calling me out for being the stupidest organism ever to draw breath (its happened).

Thank you for reading this pathetically long post that probably makes no sense what-so-ever, for I tend to ramble.

I will second his request for respectful disagreement. Make it a substantive disagreement. One liners need not apply and will be deleted immediately.

Thanks!

I'm 16. During beta, I would have paid a monthly fee just cause it was the first of it's kind truley based on competition that required tactics. I want an even playing field. I don't see how age can effect this, as I know several people ages 20+ that think they should squash the competition for not having lives.

this ain't nothing compared to Ultima Online. And like a lot of other MMO's, their official company forums were shut down.

i have a feeling you did not live off diablo 2 and starcraft for years and years.. ive beat the game twice now and i still find the PvE fun because getting a new game like this comes once in a long while for me...

I agree like every game ever made in the history of gaming Guild Wars has some flaws, but every game does and i learn to accept that, mainly because ive played d2 for so long... I don't think Anet made any bad decisions for PvE, i guess you were just expecting something diffrent and got bored faster than others

I guess people should just take this game less seriously, so its not perfect, big whoop... there is no such thing as perfect

Point 1 sure.
Point 2, are you sure you are playing GW??? It is incrediably easy to progress, If you play only 1 hour a day within a week you will have 10+ runes unlocked, 100+ blue weapons,+ 50 plus purple weapons and upto 10 golds and thats just casual, sure you maynot have a black dye, but so what, does it actually make you look different from the other players in your class, nope.
Runes are the only thing worth buying, but you can often find everything you could ever need with a bit of patients.
You are actually only forced to do 2 missions to access all areas.
The game is fun, and a good game to play casually, it does have flaws, some of which are more pronounced than others, but for what it is, and not what you think it should be GW is a entertaining game.

GW is a fun game, regardless of the nerfs and whingeing.

I have had the odd complaint with lag issues on the European server, how WaW is very imbalanced, and about how certain classes have more opportunity than others, but that's about it. Other than that, I'm very happy with the game.

'nuff said!

We should all truly be thankful that there is actually a game that is not asking you to pay 20 bucks a month to play on top of the 40 you spent buying the d**n thing....Yes in all reality EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE has issues... How do we deal with issues...ignore them...Issues are like small children with crappy attitudes, ignore them long enough and they go away.... For those pissed off at Anet, think in terms of how they feel...they make this game, with no monthly fee to prevent freaks from griping about paying, so there for those same people find something else to complain about....if it is not one thing, it will always be another...thus completing the vicious circle I like to call LIFE

I really wasn't going to speak up (as I'm taking some time off from GW to rekindle my desire to play) but this is driving me nuts.

I've seen a lot of posts like this. The "Just be happy" threads seem to pop up in reply to any criticism posted. I think this is based on the assumption that if you are complaining, you must not be happy/grateful.

Allow me to climb on my soap box here for a minute and say a few more words. In general, people only complain about things that they (on some level) care about. I don't buy melons, so you know what, if the melon crop gets ruined or cost more or are of poor quality I don't complain. Why? Because I don't care about melons. I do participate in the U.S. government to the extent that I vote, pay taxes, abide by laws, etc so when a law comes out that impacts me, I do complain about it. Why? Because I /do/ care.

Now, when I complain about a law, it doesn't mean that I hate all of the government, nor that I would be happier in another country, nor that I want to move. It means that I have a criticism with one thing that I'd like to voice. I'm voicing this criticism because I care, not because I don't care.

Now, why choose to voice a concern as a manifestation of my caring? Because improvement is not born from complacency. Improvement comes from thinking critically on a subject. Hence when I talk about a law I don't like, it's in the hopes of getting other people to think like me and complain /in the hopes of improving a system that they care about/.

So let's take this back to guild wars. I don't think I complain. Maybe I have and I don't recall, but I would hazard a guess that if I do complain, I don't do it much. But I value those who do complain because they are trying to improve the game that they care about and get their point across to the devs who do read these boards. They are spending their time trying to make the game better for themselves, you, and me. To that end, I think that yelling at people who complain demonstrates a lack of commitment to a game.

That said, complaints made politely seem to go a bit farther.

That's all, I'll quiet down now.
