Firefox doesn't have ActiveX, which is safer. Internet Explorer is much more popular than Firefox ( although Firefox is growing fast), so it attracts more hackers
And Firefox also has some good plugins, extension, nice skins, some nice features like Tab, mouse gesture, etc.. but I think they are less important.
