No one runs Iron Mines anymore....
Lykan
Does nobody run this mision anymore?
I have been playing since the days when you had to do the infuse run 5 times to be fully infused, the kids these days dont know how lucky they are.
I joined a party tonight to get my new Marhans Ranger armour infused, and I said when I got into town;
"LFG for infuse run, will help with mission as well."
So the mission starts and I start running, i dont noticed until im round the first few turns that only me and another ranger are running, everyone else had started fighting. I got about halfway before I got trapped by 3 giants and both me and the other ranger died, and then .... the newbies called us n00bs!!
They were like, "Why did you run?"
I replied "This is the quickest way to do the mission, didnt you know?"
And they wouldn't believe that people run the mission, or at least they used to.
Have things changed that much, are the days of running the Iron Mines coming to an end?
Bah, the youth of today!
*mumbles something about "the good old days" and stumbles off*

imagine you are in a group
suddenly one of your teammates starts running instead of fighting, stating that it's better to run
what would you think about that ?
now I just don't do this mission
I just go to the next one :P

Howling Wind
The infuse run is soooo easy to do with henchmans just do it with them.
Lost
The whole infusion run concept always seemed silly to me. I've always used henchmen for the infusion and the mission. Then I fight my way there as it would be faster using an instantly made henchmen group and fighting than looking for the kind of group you need and running.
Plague
People still do it, the people you were with are just stupid. I'm glad they enjoyed fighting the next one and a half hours through that whole mission.
Mavrik
I've been run for the first have twice now... Usually made it about half way before being stoned to death lol... One of these days I will fight my way through it.
Vilaptca
You can run it with henchmen, don't choose morons to help you with something so easy.
Besides, you only need to run to get infused, I've skipped this mission on all 4 of my characters and just went to Thunderhead Keep after fighting my way to Grotto.

If people are looking for a challenge to get infused, better to do the mineral springs run for the infusion at the end. Iron mines is not very challenging at all, easily done with henchies, and easily run. Not so Mineral ...you really have to work hard to get the infusion there.
Old Dood
It isn't that hard. I have done it a few times to infuse different armor. And now it looks like I will for Saintly Armor too.
neoteo
well , its what hapands when devs change the game , everything becomes diferent , this is a good exemple , when we had to do 5 runs , everybody was doing it ( i miss that times ) it was easy to find what what was infusion , and what was infusion runs , now people dont know what is infusion and dont run .... i hope all the people that complaind about the runs are happy , cose im not ...
infusion runs use to be fun ... now its history ...

More and more I find myself having to take the lead in such instances. There are still infusion runs going on, and I have seen people advertising for them.
What is really a pain are Cap runs. Goes the other way and making sure people are infused is just a pain.
And even then I get 4 Hammer Warriors, 3 Rangers, and 1 uninfused monk. Who we agreed to infuse cause it was a pain to get even that monk at that hour.
borkbork
Well. I've stood in town asking if anyone wants to go on an infuse run...
And promptly get called 'noob' for asking such a 'ridiculous question.'
I point out that I have new armor that I'd like to infuse up but for whatever reason, many people can't comprehend that.
Just grab henchies and go. It's faster and quite easy.

Running is fun. I just completed that mission. Remember kids, you don't have to outrun the monsters, just your slowest team mate.

I use to run this in the days it took 5 runs, but I like to foght it now, more interesting.
Again running is for weak.
Sanji
I don't know about the weak or lazy, but I do know about "the bored" and "the tired of doing that mission for the twelfth* freaking time."
Aside from the fact that infusion is still a horrible and superflous game mechanic, I'm still glad they made Infusion work on your current set of Armor instead of a single piece.
*Two Characters when it was Five times to infuse, Two characters when it only took one.

It's fun how people forget common sense and good manners as soon as they get on a public board.
"Running is for the weak and lazy."
No, running is for those who don't have 6 hours a day to play and want to do missions with the least amount of fighting possible. Or for people who enjoy running more than fighting Yet-Another-Wave-Of-Monsters.
No one says you HAVE TO run. But please don't tell me I have to fight through that mass for no reason at all because I won't. Am I weak? Maybe.
BTW, I run infusions. Need a hand, look for me.

I actually like playing GuildWars...
...that's why I fight, not run.
I don't really care how other people like to approach this mission, but when I do it I will state clearly that I won't run and I'd leave party the very instant someone starts to run.

My poor group in the fire islands had to do the bonus on one of those misisons to get my monk infused. I forgot that I had bought new armor and hadn't gotten it infused yet.

My only point was that this should be agreed on BEFORE starting the mission, that's all.

Anyhow, I don't like doing the Mursaat route even if infused since Markis is three easy Monster groups away unless, the exception being if you or your party needs to unlock skills. You shouldn't assume that just because you enjoy slogging your way through the mission that it's the only way to enjoy it and anything else means you are lazy or weak.
It's perfectly fine for people to have their own priorities, and to scorn certain methods of play. You don't want runners in your party because you think they're lazy, that's fine. They probably don't want you in their party because you're inefficient.

In my estimation, there's two basic types of players that do that and both have their reasons, agree with them or not.
People who are playing through the game again as a different Profession combo because that's currently the quickest and easiest way to get skills.
The second being the various casual players who might not be playing their third time through for skill points, but still ride the Guild Wars express.

?! And pray tell, what are they? Botters? blah.
I do "rush" whenever I can - I've been through the whole game twice and I'm tired of doing everything over and over. Or better: I like it a lot, but I do want to progress through it with all the chars to have access to more skills armors drops runes and stuff for my pvp. yet-another-good-thing about GW is that I can go back and redo missions if I want to.
Agree on the "runs must be agreed upon at start" part. I usually SAY it right away. I had a discussion with a guy yesterday who told me he wanted to do nolani's coop and extra. I told him I didn't want to do the extra, because I'd use the xp after ascension (I'm always always always low on skill points). He started insulting and calling me n00b (which is kind of funny in an italian conversation) - so entered my shiny new ignore list. But... I was just stating beforehand what I wanted. Is it THAT hard to say "ok, no thanks I'm not interested", or "ok we'll go without you"?!

I'm free to impress my point, I do personally think most runners are lazy, if I started to find a game boring I'd quit... just my take on it.

Hey, I found a gold max fellblade from a tundra giant well fighting my way to infuse my grotto armour with henchmen.
And I have never ran through a mission or high level area since.

uhm yeah, and one I know has found 2 (yes TWO and I was THERE, and it SUCKED!) supreme air magic runes in a row felling the healer mounted dwarf boss (forgot how he's called). That doesn't mean it's worth my time to kill everything when I'm just going to unlock the next area... when I'm looking for something, I fight, when I'm going somewhere, I avoid everything I can

Just because someone is more focused on the end result than the means does not mean they revile the means or hate the game.

same as you said, just a bit more emphasized. think about it.
PS:
do you sometimes watch a movie more than once? If yes, are there parts you like to skip or find a bit boring? like for example the intro?
Why do you watch that movie again? (or read that book again,...) if you find it boring...

Running is ruining this game. Every mission I have grouped with players that's all they want to do, run it, get to the end as fast as possible and bypass everything they can to do it. I don't understand the rush to boredom myself. Once you run everything you are left with UW/FOW, woopitiditydoo. It's sad one has to resort to using henchies to SEE THE DAMN CONTENT OF THE GAME. People should respect that others may be on their first characters and don't wish to run or rush a mission, but, nobody asks and nobody cares. RUN RUN RUN, this is nothing more than RUN WARS. Rush to Droknars, Rush to Elite Skills Rush to Ascension, Rush to UW/FOW with your 105/55 monk builds, Rush Rush Rush, have some respect for people who are new to the game, most all you beta testers are the ruinage of most of this game because of your rushing attitudes. But, heh why do I even post, you don't give a damn anyway. lol Disrespectful youth of today. lol

I think red sonya was trying to be funny, Sanji...
anyway what I find intriguing is how many people keep telling others "if you don't play like I like to play, you're an idiot/noob/lazy/game-breaker/cheater"....
Bertold Brecht once said - one who says "I believe" you might be a saint, but one who says "you have to believe" is a nazi. Not calling anyone a nazi (far from me) but food for thought...

That's rather rude.]
No it's not rude it's fact. Beta testers have seen the content, seen the game and above all else know most of the exploits, especially the rush to Droknars armor and where every elite skill and all skills for that matter are located. They are the very ones who put up websites like these with all the information redily at hand so other people can become like them and rush the content as well. They are the ebayers, they are the very people most dislike because they turn the game into a rush RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO and know where to go to get the best loot drop, etc. etc. I don't think I need to post all of them. Beta testing should be closed to the public, only employees of the company allowed to beta test and then not be allowed to post websites giving away features of the game. We've all seen them time and time again for every mmorpg/mmo out there. The ruinage of the game is knowledge beforehand by beta testers, the advantage of knowing before release. They get all the advantages and lead to the ruinage of most of them. The economy in every game is messed up, I don't know of a one that isn't just because beta testers exploit everything they learned before everyone else and take advantage of the mass population and their gold when the game is released.
When someone finally releases a game where there haven't been any open beta testers, then you will find a game that will take that six months to a year to figure out, just like beta does for beta testers. When you can't post all the exploits and best loot spots and best solo spots on day one, they you will find a game that is balanced and fair for everyone for quite a long time. Everyone will start off equally and not 6 months to a year ahead of everyone else.

I agree with the original poster, running in this mission is too much fun. Many good times running/racing/laughing at the dead/crying when the shadows knock down the last guy back when you had to run it 5 times...
When I got my 15k druid armor, I got lucky and hooked up with a party where pretty much everyone was getting their 15k armor infused and it was a very good time...

sighs and do not forget not only do they only have to do it once, but the protection is less
all three of my charcaters had to do the 5 runs that means i did at least 30 infusion runs back in the day (10 runs for each character) 2 sets of armor lol.
these kids now a days have no idea how easy they have it now.
oh well

Sighs obviously you were not here when we had to make 5 runs to infuse each piece of armor. i have a feeling ifyou had to do that mission 30 times you would have a different view.
but far be it from me to tell you not to try and tell others how to play. obviously you are a control freak and everyone must confrom to your idea of how to have fun or it ruins it for you (don't ask me how)
have a nice life trying to tell everyone how to have fun.

Running can be fun (especially this mission), but you don't have to run every mission or crawl every mission, you can change up. When I'm in the mood to hang out and chat I go to places like Port Sledge, it's out of the way and you can usually pick up a group to casually kill all the grawl around it, it's a fun place to enjoy the view. But when I'm helping someone get infused, it's get every running skill you have and get ready to race!
EF2NYD
Going on an infuse run made me realize you can actually go under the bridge and NOT fight the Mursaat. Infusion runs were always fun.

I like to follow a simple rule... don't leave a group alive that can attack you from behind if the next one stops you. Seen too many groups bite it that way.

You want people to respect the fact that you are new to the game: sure. But only as long as you respect that fact that many others are not new to the game and have different objectives.
