When you know where and how to farm for Black dye in Pre-Searing, you'll find about one every 2 hours, in other words: A waste of time. You shouldn't farm them, you won't get enough profit.

Wow bad luck for you all. Had around 25 at the high times of black sales and made a fortune selling most of them. Have since collected (through regular playing) approximately 10. Haven't logged on in about 2 weeks, but if I remember correctly I have about 18-22 in storage. Don't know how many silvers or other colors I have, but I know it it a lot.

448hours and 29 minutes of play time, and I have never had a black dye drop. My best friend has had 2 and she almost never plays! It is a little frustrating.

I've got one recoverable one in 300 hours. We were fighting our way to Dunes of Despair, and I got one from a devourer there. The whole group clapped for me.
I also got two black dye drops from stone elementals in Old Ascalon. Unfortunately, it was with my ranger, and they were far away. As I walked towards them, my poor character slowed... and stopped... and waited... ERR=7. Yeah, that pissed me off.
Silver, now, silver's a different story. I got like, 30 silvers in pre-searing. Unfortunately, I sold them all back to the trader before prices shot up in the summer. And I haven't gotten any since going post-searing, on any character, at all.

my best is still the double drop of the BLACK/SILVER followed by the SILVER/SILVER followed by the RED/BLUEstill hoping for that double black someday

The most black and silver dye I have seen drop is outside augury farming the griffons.

I've been playing for a while now and over 8 characters i've only ever gotten one black dye drop in the UW...my bro has gotten around 6 mostly from presearing..

I have played for nearly 1500 hours never found a black dye or a decent gold weapon at all, i once found a staff with +30 health but i got wood when i salvaged it. Only way i can make gold in this game is buying low and selling high as the game seriouly hates me and never drops anything good for me. Only good drop i have got was victo's blade, i was one of the very first to find it and got 50 ecto for it.

I've been getting a ton of silvers lately, mainly from Drakes outside Elona. I've gotten 5 blacks in my 771 hours.

I get at least 5 black dyes a character in presearing =) Maybe you should hunt there...

980 hours, no black dyes. I've only ever seen 2 drop and neither were for me. No sup absorption either.

(playing since the game came out (with a 2 month break) and not a single black at all. i think i've seen one drop for smeone else but thats it

Back when I was a noob, I found a black dye. When they were worth ¬45k. What did I do with it? apply it to my presear armour of course!

When I was making my N/Me he solo'ed the lv 10 mino's outside Ice Tooth Cave from lv 9 to lv 14... he got a damn luck day of (3) Vial of Dye[Black] thru out his leveling... then i was like... I HAVE OVER A THOUSAND HOURS ON MY MONK AND NEVER HAVE I FOUND SO MANY BLACK DYES WITHIN A WEEK!!!!

i got 2 blk dyes in i think 300ish hours. one is on my ranger today, we were helping some guildies gettting FOW armor (i too poor to afford that so i tagged along to have fun) the other is on my worrior outside ventaris, i just felt like killing something and was surprised when the first drop was a blk dye. i was one on the sanctum cay mission a person in our group got it.
